Live from…Z and TB’s Scandinavian Escapade

Good Morning!  We are on our way to Tallin, Estonia with an expected docking time of 1200.  It is another beautiful and sunny day with temperatures up to 80 F.

Yesterday was a sea day and we did nothing but eat and sleep with a happy hour or two in between naps.  After writing this blog, I went back to bed until 1030.  TB and I strapped on the feed bags and went to the Tex-Mex lunch buffet and it was not bad, just a little too salty for my taste.  After a well deserved nap, I went to the pool bar to see what I could rustle up.

We had dinner reservations at Chartruese were we had another great meal.  We both had the same items, being Alaskan crab app, the silky smooth mushroom soup, and the halibut.

We decided to break tradition and went to the show!  It was hosted by John O’Hurley who entertained us with stories and songs.  You may know him as Mr. Peterman from Seinfeld.

Overall, it was another great sea day!

Today, we are in Tallin the capital of Estonia. We cancelled our tour today due to the weather being pretty hot and took the shuttle into town.  With three ships in port, the old town was one giant mob.  Regardless, we walked around and took some pics of the cobblestoned streets and medieval buildings.  This is a very photogenic city full of restaurants and shops.

Sad to report that we are now down to two more nights left in this cruise.   It has been excellent in every way from the weather, food, and service.

Tomorrow:  Helsinki

A question: does Regent have DonQ for  you ?

K

Negative. Not even a drop.  I am forced to drink Mount Bay rum.  I am off life support until I get home.

Good Morning.  Well, we are getting close to hanging up my pen and paper.  Today is our last day before we disembark.  The next two days will be long ones as we fly to London for an overnight then home on Saturday.

There is a threat of rain today. But, I’m trusting the tour fairies to keep us dry.

We had a slight mishap yesterday.  TB/ Inga lost her tennis bracelet.  It could have been while in town or swimming laps.  We reported it to Regent who sent a search party to our room. They left nothing unturned. Lo and behold, some kind soul found it near the pool bar and returned it. We got it back around 2200 and TB was happier than a pig in mud.

Last night was another great dinner. TB had mushroom soup and lobster risotto.

I had the soup, salad, and a steak and lobster.

Of course, we had to split dessert.

Thank you for so many great posts these past couple of weeks. I'm so sorry your journey is coming to an end, though it also means that ours is about to begin, and we must confess that we're not sad about that! We board in a little over 24 hours, and are very excited, though Stockholm has been a magnificent distraction that has made the waiting much more than tolerable.

Very glad that the situation with the bracelet panned out!

Enjoy Helsinki, and safe travels home!

Last summer on Regent I lost a gold and diamond bracelet.  I had no idea where.  I called lost and found and they had it.  It was up near the observation bar bathroom.  Someone turned it in.  I don’t know if it was by crew or fellow passenger but I was so grateful.  I’m so glad your wife’s bracelet turned up.

I am surprised you even got on the ship. Did you have your IV line removed ? Have a safe trip home, Putz.

Thank you for the wonderful posts....the only thing that could've made it better would've been sitting at the pool bar with you and TB, telling the tales of the days adventures....

Hope to run into you guys on another Regent voyage.

Fair winds and following seas!

Thank you for all of your posts.  I appreciated every single one and the effort it took to produce them.  I certainly hope to find you on a bar stool on one of our cruises.

Or on the deck when he falls off the bar stool !!!!

OUR FLIGHT GOT CANCELLED!

On Thursday evening, we had a wonderful last dinner at Pacific Rim.

Upon disembarking, we had a lovely tour of Stockholm.

Then things went south.  Stockholm-Arlanda airport has no signage.  No one had a clue on where the specific check ins were located.  To make it worse, there was no food for purchase prior to check in.  Poor little old me was wasting away after being Regent spoiled with chow. We waited four hours with two other couples to check in.  We finally got a bite to eat at the lounge (again, no signs to find it). We got to our hotel around 2100 totally exhausted.

I checked my emails before going to bed and found out that our BA non-stop flight to Miami was cancelled.  Fortunately, we were rescheduled to fly home on AA via JFK. Unfortunately, our luggage was checked in non-stop to Miami on BA.  I’m down to my last pair of undies at this time.

We found an angel called Robin at the LHR AA First class check in who worked her magic to unscrew some flight snafus and reroute our luggage.

We are now at the Flagship lounge having a little champagne and waiting for our flight home.

I hate travel.  We are in JFK waiting for our next flight and went through one of the worst travel experiences.  To make it worse, I’m cranky because I had a steak on our flight that I could not cut.

JFK: it needs some serious sprucing up. It has a lot of dirty walls.  The MPC line is supposed to be expedited when going through immigration but was on turtle express speed. Our luggage is somewhere over the Atlantic. Finally, security was what we called in the military a CF.  It was a mess.

We have one more flight and a two hour car ride.  Pray for us.
