Mixed Drinks

Recommended Posts

Sorry, this is another beverage package question. While I enjoy the foo foo drinks, my spouse likes just a bourbon and soda. What is the average cost of say a Buffalo Trace and cola? The cost may make purchasing the package not a good value. Thanks!

The pkg is good on drinks up to $14. Most drinks seems to run $14 but I havent had this buffalo trace. Know your bartender and tip well and no extra charge?

@Sea Dog might know as I know he looks for that kind..I suspect the tip big method.

Most mixed drinks range from $10-$14 with $14 being a specialty cocktail. Though I’ve never priced a bourbon and Coke it should be $10-$12 range.

I looked at a current sailing of a random ship, and Buffalo Trace is $9.99, plus 18% gratuity. You can look on the app under the current sailing, under Dining, Bars and Lounges, and find prices. I looked at Casino Bar.

@Sea Dogwas on point.

Buffalo Trace is probably priced higher than say Jack Daniels as BT is considered top shelf. Personally I would never mix BT with cola. It’s too good of a bourbon. Try Buffalo Trace neat or on the rocks.

Buffalo trace definitely is not top shelf. It's a solid bourbon but the drink package would cover any cocktail with it

I agree I don’t consider it top shelf but I’m sure Royal does.

In March I drank many (too many) Buffalo Trace old fashioneds.  They were $13 plus 18%

Your comments have been very helpful. The package is running $71 (before gratuity). If he is only spending approximately $10 a drink (before gratuity), anything over seven drinks is beyond our drinking habits. I don’t think the package is really saving us money.

Package also includes unlimited fresh OJ, smoothies in the spa cafe, specialty coffees and bottled water.  Be aware that both must purchase the package, if one is a non drinker you may be able to get a refreshment package instead of the 2nd UDP.

and BT is better than Ten High. On NCL Ten High was included with my Free at Sea but the love of my life Woodford wasn't. One time I opted to pay the upsell to have Woodford and it was an extra $19 over and above the price of the cocktail using BT.

$19 That’s robbery.  Woodford is good but that’s ridiculous.

When one has the package, are the drink gratuities paid as an extra to getting the drink or are the drink gratuties considered as included too?

You pay 18% at check out - nothing else is charged when you get the drinks.

True, although some people even add additional tip onto that at point of service onboard. Of course this is totally discretionary and not required or expected.

Thanks Biker19 for the answer.

Now I need to ask if the 18% is included in the advertised (on RC email) beverage package of $66.99 per person, OR is that price without the 18%, which would be added if/when I book that package?

The 18% will be added on top of that.  You will see added at check out when ordering through the cruise planner.
