Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! After an afternoon & evening of storms, it is a beautiful morning with expected highs in the 70s.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us. Yesterday was sad, but wonderful, with some fun thrown in.  My nephew’s 15 year old son was finally able to release some of his grief at the memorial service yesterday. Hearing all our memories helped all of us. Then we headed to the place with the best ice cream in the area. It has grown from an ice cream stand & farm to a mini amusement park. Pony rides, goat pen, tortoises, bumper boats,

zip line, mini golf, batting cages - I might be forgetting something. What a great way to repurpose the farm. And since we arrived early, our ice cream was free! The first hour of the day, the stand was promoting going green by not charging for the ice cream. And best of all the ice cream is amazing as I remembered.

My cousin trying to finish off the melted remnants of his banana split. 7 year old Cara loved it!

Today I head into Boston to meet two longtime friends for lunch. Then a visit to the Tea Party Museum, and a walk around Rose Kennedy park, before heading to the North End to meet the family for dinner.

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone!

Bodegas Ego - Goru Gold red blend Jumilla 2018
Boy I need to taste this red blend. Lots of fans and a price that makes it an easy mistake to overlook. And very interesting name. Numerous distributors that ship to me with prices starting at $9.09.

Winemaker Notes

Intense cherry-red color with violet shades. Delicate black fruit aroma with high roast and smoky features. Structured, subtle and smart palate, ripe appetizing and a sweet tannins marked by elegance.

Pair with beefsteak with mushrooms, hare, partridge, leg of lamb suckling, lamb, smoked meats, stews and rice with meat, hake stewed, salmon, codfish and red tuna, eggplant with parmesan, blue cheese and cured cheese.

WE92 Wine Enthusiast
This dark ruby wine has a bouquet of black currant, espresso bean and aniseed. It is soft on impact, then plush tannins set into the palate with flavors of blueberry, dark plum, mocha and oregano that dissolve into a Valencia orange finish.

Good morning.

Thank you Rich for today's daily reports.

It was my Father in Law's 15th memory yesterday and he was the nicest man you could ever meet.

We had this lovely cheesecake twice last week in our Yorkshire Dales hotel.

I have lots of international friends on cruise critic as well as at home.

I had an amazing fish burger for lunch at our hotel on Thursday.

I hope everyone is safe and well and all of our sailing friends are having a great time.

Happy Sunday,  Thank You Rich, Vanessa, Tina, Ann, and  Dixie.  I had only one Father-in-Law, my brother's first wife's father, and he outlived his daughter.  I'll salute International Friendship Day but pass on the cheesecake.  I love the Anouilh quote.  I hope the House of Burgesses was more productive than our current legislature.  I've been to Puerto Chiapas twice, Zaandam in 2017 and Crystal Symphony in 2018.  I'll pass on the fish sandwich.  My alternative is Mixed Ssasonal Greens, Top Sirloin Center Cut Steak, and Tiramisu as served on MS Prinsendam July 30, 2011.

It looks like a nice day here and I'll head out for my walk soon but worship today from home.

Good morning.  Thank you for the Report.

A cooler morning, only 13C (53F) this morning.  We should get to a sunny 24C (75F) this afternoon.   A big change from the hot humid weather of last week.  Bertie and I had a short walk already and now it's breakfast time.

An interesting collection of days.  I don't have a father-in-law, he died the year before DH and I married.  Friendships should be celebrated everyday.  Cheesecake sounds like a good suggestion.

Thought provoking quote.

The meal, drink and wine all sound scrumptious.

I've never been to today's port.

Prayers for everyone.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  After some strong storms last night we woke up to cool crisp air.  The windows are open to air out the house and give the ac a rest for a few days.  Mona slept next to me all night and at 4:30 she was all get up and serve breakfast!😆. Today’s chores are a trip to Aldi and mow the lawn.  We are starting to review excursions for our September cruise and have settled on two to book to use the HIA promotion credits.  I’ll pass on a fish burger and instead I think we are going to the 99 for dinner.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

When Debbie posted Salmon Burgers a few weeks ago, the recipe didn’t have many fans.  However, I make salmon burgers all the time using canned salmon but I call them salmon cakes.  I wasn’t sure what I would find when I Googled Fish Burgers with Creamy Slaw.  The recipes for these fish burgers use whole filets.  I think many of you will like these better.  Based on @grapau27comment and photo this morning, I believe that what we in the US call a fried fish sandwich, those of British heritage call them fish burgers.  They all contain a slaw recipe but feel free to make your favorite or even purchase premade at the store.

15 Minute Fish Burgers suggests the use of red snapper but you can use any white fish.  The fish is dredged in flour and fried.  The creamy slaw will add a nice crunch to the sandwich.

Crumbed Fish Burgers recipe comes from an Australian women’s magazine.  I like the use of Panko to provide the “crumbs” and extra crunch.

Here is a traditional Fried Fish Sandwich  The recipe uses a combination of flour and cornstarch and cold beer.  The fish is coated in a dry flour mixture before and after the wet batter to achieve a light and crisp outer coating.

Sending you peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good.

Good cool and sunny morning. It’s 64 and lower humidity, only going up to 82 today. The heat has finally broken.
I haven’t had cheesecake for a long time. Years ago HAL made a black cherry cake. It was delicious.

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.

Bon Voyage @AV8rix🍾🛳️

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn.  Hard to celebrate friendship today our friends headed back downstate after a month up here. It was nice not being up here by our lonesomes.  No FIL to celebrate but a local restaurant back home makes a fabulous keto cheesecake. A great quote, people would be much happier if they could follow that suggestion.  Fish sandwich #3 and the beauty Graham shared are right up our alley.  A great classic Margarita and sounds like a tasty wine.  Thanks for researching these for us each day.  Looking forward to photos of Chiapas.

Thanks for keeping us updated on everyone @JazzyV.  Prayers for everyone on our list and the people of Ukraine.  Prayers for baby Murphy.

We have gorgeous weather ahead.  Sun and 70s and 80s with lows in the 50s.  The humidity finally dropped.  Have a lovely day! Nancy

Good morning. Slept in a little later this morning. I think both of us are fairly worn out and we enjoyed some down time. Bought some fresh Alaskan Salmon and cooked it on the grill on a cedar plank last night. The plank really enhances the taste. We wanted to go out for dinner but with summer tourism it’s usually too much of a hassle with traffic and long lines. September is coming and we’ll get a piece of paradise back.

Need to get ready for church. Thanks for the Fleet Reports and contributing post.

Have a great day. Bruce

Good morning from another sunny day in central Texas.  It is 77F and feels like 77F, with a predicted high of 103F.  As soon as I finish here, I'll take my walk and then work on a project outside.  We have about four yard art critters, and every few years they need painting.  I cleaned them yesterday and will paint them this morning while it is still cool.

Sadly, my wonderful FIL died 23 years ago, and DH's DFIL (my father) died 30 years ago.  International friendship is important and through cruising and the Daily, we have many great international friends.  I love cheesecake, but only have it on BHBs, and other ships.

The Jean Anouilh quote is a great one.

We'll pass on the fish burgers, but we'll be having fish tonight.  The drink and the wine sound nice.

The VA House of Burgesses was the beginning of democracy in the colonies and ultimately in the US.

We have been to Puerto Chiapas several times.  It has been the port of the day three times, with the last time using a new name of Puerto Madero.  Here are the links to the three previous times we've had this port.

@cat shepard  Ann, I'm glad your nephew's son was finally able to let go of some of his grief yesterday.  It is good there was fun mixed in with the sadness.  Enjoy your day in Boston with friends and family.

We have been to Puerto Chiapas three times, and I agree there is not much in the port.  The first time on the Statendam in 2009, we did a tour to the Izapa Archaeological Ruins and then a stop in town.  The next time was in 2014 on the Veendam.  We did a tour that included a stop at a local school and a visit to a banana plantations. Then in 2015, again on the Statendam, we took a van into Tapachula.

Because I have quite a few pictures, I will post the ones from the two Statendam stops here.  Then, I post the pictures from the Veendam on another post.

Here are a couple of pictures from the Izapa Archaeological site.  It was interesting, but very hot that day in April.

A couple of pictures of Tapachula.

In 2015, we took a van into Tapachula and just walked around, trying to follow streets we hadn't walked in 2009.  However, all the pictures taken in town are repeats of those others have posted.  That day, the ship treated the crew to a barbeque breakfast/lunch on shore depending on their free time.  It really smelled good.

Here are a couple of pictures of the port, and our BHB.

The pool looked so refreshing, we were temped to try it.  That was the year we took the Statendam to FLL to meet the Ruby Princess for her 49 day cruise to LA via Cape Horn.  It seemed like a better idea than flying to FLL and then flying from LA to Phoenix.

As I mentioned in the previous post, in 2014 on the Veendam, our tour took us to a local school and a banana plantation.  There was an unscheduled stop at the local church.  The church ladies had prepared a lunch for us which was quite good with local foods.  There was a discrete donation box, which we all gladly added too.

These are just a few of the imagines from the school.  The fathers greeted us with a marimba concert.

DSC00949.thumb.JPG.58683b82e6d63d08c0693968106cf6a6.JPG

This is a typical classroom.

DSC00955.thumb.JPG.1ebdea3d1133d13250a05ff367b9690d.JPG

The students performed their local dances for us.  Before we arrived at the school, our guide gave each of us a packet of school supplies (cost included in the tour cost).  We figured we'd give the packets to one student each.  Instead, we were told to open them and talk to the kids before giving them one item from the packet.  The way the kids converged on us, reminded me of sea gulls when you throw breadcrumbs at them.

DSC00965.thumb.JPG.cabc3f3d0c3348901eb6730776a4c56c.JPG

This is the inside of the church.  Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a picture of the lunch.

DSC00969.thumb.JPG.4c76803d5fef5212e42905103b77905a.JPG

After lunch, we headed to the banana plantation which is close to the border with Guatemala.  At that time, most of the workers at the plantation and packing facility were Guatemalans, as they could make more money working in Mexico.  We thought that was rather ironic.

Of course, the first stop was the banana plants where our guide explained a lot about them.

DSC00972.thumb.JPG.9036ccff93bb957338cded1238719783.JPG

The banana stalks are first washed before being packed.  The ones that do not meet the standard for export, are loaded loose in a truck for local use.  You can see the truck in the background.

DSC00985.thumb.JPG.b05adc55fe3e8f28f338255d217560ee.JPG

Those little stickers on the bananas when they get to the store are put on by hand, with at least one sticker per bunch.  They pack the bananas for several different brands.  That day they were packing for Dole.
