They're not the only one.  Carnival Luminosa is skipping ALL of its Alaska itinerary (2 ports & a glacier) and heading out on its Transpacific to Japan.

I was going to mention that I read about this so don't think RCCL is lying to people. I know i would be disappointed but better to be safe.

Yeah and we picked the dome upgrade because we took the coach here so I'm super excited about the views back!!

If you want to see nature there are a lot of things to do in Seward.  Anchorage is more built up and spread out.

Right?!?! And yes DH is still hungry after dinner!! Seriously are they already running out of food??

With an app bread and dessert that looks like a full meal to me.  You can always stop by the WJ for a snack if the meal isn't enough

Well, this is a disappointment! I came all the way here to be entertained!

The Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound would have been great places to visit while in Seward.
but I guess Anchorage still has Chilcoot Charlie’s.

My post got deleted. So will post again. I think the OP is overreacting. The “cruise” has been fun since boarding and the free booze has taken the edge off everyone. OP is hardcore overreacting and I wonder if they even researched the boat before boarding. Good riddance that they aren’t still onboard to kill the vibe.

I hope no one takes their opinion seriously. Prob will get deleted again but it’s wild that people have such outlandish and unreasonable reactions to things outside RC/captain’s control. A ship parked next to us that should be in Sitka but came to Seward because the weather was awful.

While the OP can be dramatic, I would be very disappointed if our Radiance sailing had sat in Seward for days and lost the ports we were looking forward to the most.  I know there is nothing the cruise line can do because of the weather but free drinks would not be something that would take the edge off for me as I hardly drink.  We planned our first Alaska sailing for a long time, thinking it was going to be a once in a lifetime trip.  Luckily, we have had the opportunity to go back.  I am not sure if we would have gone as far as leaving the ship and trying to go out on our own in terrible weather, but it is her choice to do what makes them happy.  Weather has caused havoc this summer.  I hope things calm down a bit before we head out again in a few weeks.

If there are places that you absolutely, definitely need to see and are looking forward to it, then a cruise is never the best option. Uncertainty - whether it be mechanical or weather related is always a possibility.

Of course there is uncertainty, we have cruised enough to have missed ports, had itineraries changed last minute and have had to cancel outright more than once. It doesn’t change the fact that the OP is disappointed and wants off the ship.

Seems to me OP is blaming vs. expressing disappointment.

Right?!  And YES they knew at 9am on Friday about weather, or do you seriously think a passenger had to warn them a couple hours later, AFTER we boarded??  I can't believe everyone wants to believe Royal is ignorant as a PASS!!

I heard that Alaska was magical and we're going do this the best ways we can starting tomorrow! And YES next year we'll pick a different trip - I get it though everyone wants to stay and drink hard because adulting sucks.

I was SO hesitant because of Royal's reviews but in hindsight, I'd rather skip and see as much as possible because the coach down here it was just . . .wow.

I’ve seen more complaints from OP on here than overheard on the ship.

It’s so important to compare what they would say if it was suddenly Carnival. And yes many people are Loyal to Royal and Royal can do no wrong. There is such a huge difference in maintenance for various lines. Seriously, who broke down in Alaska??

FINALLY they're painting the ship after being here for weeks!! It is so weird like they knew it wasn't going to sail Friday! And yes our tour driver today thinks the mechanics STILL need fixed!!

I'm gutted.  Don't leave!!  SERIOUSLY! We need your insight into how things are.  You are a voice that needs to be heard.

Thanks so much we're on for one more night to get an earlier train ride back. Seriously should have picked Grand Princess - no propulsion problems!!

I would love to have sailed to all the ports but it was too expensive for us to get here just to drink!! At least our cabin was cheap and we spent a couple days in Seward. The casino is down too so not easy to blow the OBC!

We are very excited to pick tours from Anchorage and ride the train back in the morning!!
