Jewel Suite or Odyssey OV Balcony for Our Next Cruise

We kinda narrowed down our next cruise to either...

1.  Jewel OTS Grand Suite for 6 nights out of San Juan to Ft. Lauderdale.  Stops are Philipsburg, St. Maarten ... Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas ... and Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevisat.  We would have to get a 1 way flight to San Juan (which isn't that big a deal) and our son would just pick us up at Ft Lauderdale. (We live in Sarasota, Florida)

2.    Odyssey OTS Ocean View Balcony for 8 nights out of Ft Lauderdale.  Stops are Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas ... Oranjestad, Aruba ... Willemstad, Curacao.

We are in our 50s and it will just be my wife and I cruising.  We like the casino, bingo, eating and going to a few shows.  We like hanging in our cabin relaxing also on the balcony.   We have never been to any of these ports including San Juan PR.  Thank you so much for any advise you can offer.  🙂

#2, an easy choice for us.

You did not mention your plans for Puerto Rico.  Would you be adding days to explore there?  If so, is that something that sounded great to you both?  If you answer yes to those questions, I’d have a reason to say you should consider the Jewel cruise.  If not, Odyssey.

We were just going to fly in the night before.  We are leaning heavily towards Odyssey.  Seems alot of people love this class of ship.

Given you don’t have really special plans for Puerto Rico, I’d also choose 8 nights on Odyssey.

Both classes of ships have their fans.  I can be happy on either class though they have different charms. You might have gotten more varied answers if you were comparing a longer cruise on Radiance class to a shorter cruise on Q class.

I don’t like idea of flying to San Juan, Odyssey I sure has better entertainment. But I love grand suites, not a lot of perks on this class but still get breakfast in specialty restaurant, 3 hour happy hour , priority embarking and disembarking, concierge to help with any issues and a really nice cabin , large bathroom with double sinks .

We just booked the 8 nights on the Odyssey ... and decided to upgrade a little to the Junior Suite for a little extra room.

Thank you everyone for chiming in and helping with our decision.  🙂

You will LOVE the Jr suites on Odyssey. 2 bathrooms and so much space. It also gets you into CK with a reservation.  And that itinerary is great.

Do all of the JS on Odyssey have two bathrooms or is Odyssey like the other Quantum class ships with the three different types of JS?

Odyssey has 2 types of Jr suite bathrooms.  Ours had a powder room with sink and toilet and another with sink, toilet and shower/tub combo.  Others have a powder room with sink and toilet and another with sink, separate tub and separate shower.  I think there’s another type too that’s more square than long with a single bath.  There are just a few of those I think? We love the 2 bathrooms even though there’s just the 2 of us.

Okay, so it does have the three different types.  We are looking to take someone who can't get into the tub, so the difference is very important.  The one with the split bathroom with the walk-in rain shower with the bench is perfect, even if there is only a toilet in the other bathroom, not both.
