Price for the maiden is the same as the next 2 week cruise we paid £4k each for P2 for 7 days the next cruise to the Canaries was also £4k each in the same cabin , for  2 weeks, so we have paid a significant premium to be on the cruise , to add to some other comments regarding speed of service, you are not alone, Princess grills was just as bad, for both food and drink, to forever to get even the basics.

I'm sure there was a premium added to the Maiden but although invited to book the original dates [along with others], the cabin we would want wasn't one available and we didn't want the BoB in winter and so can't remember the price structure.

What I would say, and have said before, when comparing like for like, The Canaries are cheaper than other 14 nighters we have taken /have booked.

May I just ask if the present cruise is a full price, normal, cruise, or a special pre-maiden cruise essentially to get the staff etc. completely up to scratch, perhaps at reduced prices or some other incentive?  We did one years ago with another line where you paid up front for your 4 days on board, but then got all the cost back if booking and taking another  cruise within I think a year.

No discounts or offers. Cruise was more expensive than others. Carnival Maiden Voyages usually attract a significant premium as this one did.

That makes sense; the PG price for the Canaries did seem cheap. Maybe it’s a bit less per 7 days on 14 day cruises anyway. Should be.

I have all the guest invoices for past, present and future cruises so can refer to them and I wouldn't use the word 'cheap', 'cos it's not. I would say 'less expensive'.

I would also say The Maiden was expensive. To be expected I guess.

I’m sorry to hear that service, for both food and drinks, has been unacceptably slow so far. Let’s hope that this was first night troubles (presumably being the first time that everything has been tested at capacity?) and that by the end of the week everything will be as it should. At least I hope that’s the case, as we are on QA in 3 weeks time and with the price we are paying (for Britannia Club) I would not be accepting of some of the wait times being reported 🤔

Thermal Suite in the spa was lovely this morning. Nice to have everything working, which is a luxury compared to the spa on Queen Mary 2, as it can be temperamental.

In regards to the seating in the area, there isn’t much. Some soft benches, and a few arm chairs. However, if limiting the amount of passengers in at a time, it’s manageable.

Relaxation area was nice as well, great seating with windows looking out at the ocean.

May I ask -  Names of the maître d in PG and also in QG for this maiden voyage ? Do we know them from other Cunard ships?

Yes, and in general I was wondering if people had come across many staff they knew.

Certain from video and pictures that one of the Oldroyd twins is on board

Some of our favourite crew from Queen Mary 2 are onboard, some returning back to her shortly.

In the Commodore Club  for our first martinis.  First thing we noticed is no seats at the bar. Must be about double the seating capacity of the Vistas but with the same number of staff. The room is also completely flat so has a different feeling.

Edit: Just been advised by @Solent Richard that there's no canapés. And won't be any !!!

that's a shame. Sitting at the bar is one of my favourite Commodore Club activities! Love the canapes too. I noticed on QE in 2022 that they weren't there every night but were there on formal nghts.

Did someone say room service is chargeable now or have I made that up? A jug of hot chocolate delivered last thing was one of my favourite things!

There are some additional extra charge items on the menu, though some come from restaurants (burger from Goldon Lion, steak from Sir Samuel’s, etc) so I think the charge there is suitable.

I’m actually a fan of this change. On our summer voyage last year, there were times where I wanted to eat restaurant food but not have to dress up (sometimes for me over 7 weeks, I just wanted a “chill” evening) — and this was one of the reasons I looked into maybe doing a longer trip in the Grills for the in suite dining.

While i’m aware we won’t get the same level of service due to not having a butler, it will still be nice for me to have restaurant food in the cabin.

thanks Myles. So some items are chargeable but some are still included? I know what you mean about chilling - we were confined to cabin with Covid on our 4 week QE trip in 2022 and it was actually quite nice to just eat on the balcony (they kindly moved us for the duration of our isolation from an inside cabin) without getting dressed up. Have a fabulous time, can't wait till June when we go to the Fjords.

Another first for Queen Anne, as we’ve apparently travelled back in time to the 5th of April 2024 according to the captain.

Seems that in the past the burger was always available no charge day or evening on the room servuce menus. As to no seats at the bar. That seems to be the popular way the younger crowd likes to consume their beverages by standing around the bar in large numbers. Have witnessed this on several other lines.

Ending off today in the Commodore club where the service has improved in speed! Seems like everyone is getting used to things, passengers and crew.

Unfortunately the 4pm production of the show was cancelled due to bad weather, and we missed the 8pm and 10pm shows due to dinner in Sir Samuel’s.

Speaking of dinner, it was fantastic. I tried the caviar with chips. Happy to report that it has all the additional caviar items with the addition of the chips.

I also tried the wagyu, which was better than previous ones I’ve had in Verandah in the past. We were offered a knife selection as well.

Also, for anyone interested, I spent some time in the casino which has some nice slots, though (I believe) a limited amount of tables.

Has service (table and sommelier) improved in the main restaurants and what are people’s first impressions of the new Cunard Queen -now that you are likely getting your bearings?

The games room has these lovely organised book style covers for each of the games.

It’s a nice space to play, though some games are missing. There is also a notice kindly asking for games not to be removed from the area. IMG_4737.thumb.jpeg.90410b254c7596f1231d12290252e225.jpegIMG_4738.thumb.jpeg.fecdef2fa70f74c70ec55405d517ace7.jpegIMG_4736.thumb.jpeg.02cd5d73a68893ec78d692102985731e.jpeg

We are in a Coruna today and the challenge was to climb the San Pedro Mount and photograph the Canons.

Shock horror, the Panoramic elevator wasn’t operating ( I blame Brexit) so nothing for it but shanks pony.

Job done….

Rust found. Pursers desk complained to. Full refund requested. Early disembarkation wanted. Absolutely unacceptable!

My first thought was that the corridor carpet design pointed forward, but it actually points to the closest staircase/lift.

Yes, I had assumed the same, but pointing to the lift is not unhelpful. Has the ship felt steady so far?
