Whoops. Emerald Greenland deals revoked.

Besides not honoring the offer or offering something better than an IE guarantee interior, my major gripe is that the email didn't tell us what the pricing would be to keep our originally booked cabin.  Or the other cabin types.  They had to have known before the email went out so there was no reason to not give us the information we would need to make an informed decision.  And sending the email Friday evening so we can't contact our pvp until Monday was very poor customer service.

Princess should have included a reference code on the letter they sent out so that when we called Princess, per their instructions the Agent would be able to look up the details as to the options offered….but, no the did not resulting in the Agents clueless as what this is all about and waisting our time.

I do not think so….the Bait, an offer for a free cruise with Princess plus…the Switch…revolting their offer and now if you want to go it will cost you more if you want to keep the category you booked and paid the fees per their terms.  Plus, they took away the Princess Plus and changed the OBC from $200 pp to $100 pp.. I would not have booked the cruise under that offer…so I was Baited and Switch.  Fortunately I read my email often and was able to act on this promptly where with some people they may miss the May 6th deadline…which is not much lead time.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but I am not sure I understand the "bait" part.  Did Princess send you an email with a comp offer for the cruise, or did it come up when you logged in to your Princess account?  I feel really bad that this happened, and I'm not excusing Princess's poor customer service, but I saw the same zero fares when I logged in to my Princess account and let it list all cruises according to the fare price.  The two cruises in question here were the first to come up.  I did consider booking the Star Princess cruise, but I personally don't feel that Princess baited me into booking.  It appeared to me to be a glitch, or error, on Princess's side.  That is just how I felt and, of course, everyone may have had different perspectives and some may have considered it as Princess baiting one into it.

How do you get it to list all cruises according to fare price?  I logged into my account but didn't see that option.  Thank-you.

Nor do I want to be argumentative…but when booking the free offer, there were conditions attached of paying the $200 pp non-refundable deposit, which would revert to OBC upon embarkation.  So, there were risks when booking, it was not totally free.  Then to receive an email that Princess is not going to honor their offer is disappointing.
We have been cruising with Princess for over 30 years and we have been offered Casino offers in the past….so, I had faith that this was a valid offer because it was titled Prestige Casino Offer.  I thought this must have been sent out to select people…not the general public.  So yes I thought this was a valid offer…but, now I have lost faith in knowing what is a valid offer from Princess.
I respect your opinions and wish to take this no further.  We’re all disappointed and how it was handled.

Did you receive an email offer from Princess with this deal as "bait" or was it from reading on line? If you booked it because you read about it in here and not from a direct offer from Princess, then there isn't any bait and switch.

We all knew we were taking the chance when deciding whether or not to book. The terms for Princess are clear that if a mistake like this is made, it does not have to be honored.

I feel that Princess is being fair is allowing the booking to remain but with an inside. Nothing had to be offered and it could have just been a straight cancellation.

Many who booked discussed hoping it would be honored. The words too good to be true were on here. I had a cabin set aside and all I had to do was hit the last button to book but realized it would be canceled. As exciting as it was to think I could have such a great deal and I have had some decent casino deals on the past, I knew that this was too good to be true and decided not to gamble.

Sorry for all of those who are very disappointed.

I wouldn’t call it “ bait”, however the “switch” from mini suite I had confirmed with a non refundable deposit, did happen within minutes of the email saying it was an offer made in error.

Princess did not deliberately scam us.

The threat of Monday cancellation fee- decision etc set me off.

The upgrade offer to keep the mini was over $3500 without perks.

I do not consider that fair nor wondering if I will get my $769.50 back is unclear.

I thought that comp was interior room already?  Did it have a beverage package?

They sent the same form email for the Star comp bookings Oct 2025, except those were for MS cabins.  Disappointing they didn’t honor those.

We were offered a balcony and the premier package, including drinks, gratuities, WiFi, etc….its very disappointing that they have rescinded the offer, even though it was paid for.

I had no reason to believe that this was not a legitimate offer. Last May I was offered a two week Alaska cruise for $0! And I took it. I was also offered a two week Hawaii cruise this past December for $0 and I took it. So I had no reason to believe that this was not a normal offer! It did not seem like a too good to be true offer to me since I had been offered these in the past. So, yes, I’m very disappointed.

how was this offer presented different from a valid casino offer? - different contact? different wording? different department? - In other words, did you think 100% that this was just another casino offer?

That doesn’t sound deeply discounted to me.  That probably was what CS told you?  I’m just waiting till Monday and talk with my CVP.  Then, we’ll decide on this and the TA that I booked for a b2b.

It is disappointing, but what can we do…not much.  Go with the flow.🥴

I saw that and I assumed it was a computer glitch.  Is it ethical to book a "0" fare knowing well that it's a mistake?  Very few things in life are free and certainly cruising is not.

Last year, I was offered a 2 week cruise to Alaska for $0 and a 16 night Hawaii cruise for $0 and I took them both! I had no reason to believe that this was a computer glitch or a mistake, since I have had several $0 offers in the past, and successfully took them.

We were already booked on this cruise, so when the prestige package showed up, I called my casino host as I knew it was not a valid offer.  He confirmed.  When I did a mock booking online for the offer and checked the details of the offer, it clearly said your offer may vary and refer to your casino offer.  So, just because there was a system issue does not mean I was entitled to the premier package, higher level cabin etc.  it was too good to be true and I had no prestige offer so I was not eligible.  Princess is making it fair for everyone.  I paid my upgrade fee and for the plus package on my casino offer.  Why should others get it for free due to a system error.  That is not fair to everyone that already paid their rightful share  for this cruise.

Thank you for sharing.

When I posted OMG thread posing my question about comp offers, I had no idea that 300 others were seeing the same on their site.

I have had casino discounts done completely through online just as I booked this Star offer.

Each of us has to decide what we consider fair for our own situation. Don’t let others tell you what you should think.

Hopefully, it will work out well for everyone.

I think most that have an issue isn’t about the revoking but how it was handled. The letter received was poorly written, confusing, and a bit threatening, I say that as the sent it on a Friday night with a deadline of Monday.
When contacting the number as instructed, NOT A SINGLE rep knew what we were talking about. Releasing notification with little explanation before instructing customer service was an awful decision,

and for the record , the Star booking did not mention casino offer, it said Comp offer.

I'm sorry that this wasn't the case for you this time.  As you have had these before, it certainly must have seemed like it was legit.

Many who booked had never received a $0 offer but booked after reading about it.  So for those, like myself, it did seem to be too good to be true.

That is true.  It showed comp offer for me.  It was the Emerald sailing that showed prestige casino offer.

I didn’t see “casino offer” when I booked (I found out due to the posting here, not through a direct offer email.  I did do a search by lowest price and found the two “zero” cruises.)

the Booking Confirmation says this under payment details:

Booking is paid in full.
Complimentary stateroom cruise offers are non-transferable. Invited guest must sail or full cruise fare will be applied to other guests sailing in the cabin. Casino offers are not
combinable. Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses are the responsibility of the guest and not included in this offer.
A non-refundable deposit of $200 per guest is required at the time of booking (applies to first two guests in stateroom only). Deposit will be returned to guest as onboard credit on
folio.
In the event of cancellation, the non-refundable $200 per guest deposit will be held as a cancel fee and is in addition to the cancellation schedule outlined on the booking…

I have never had a casino offer, so I don’t know if “Complimentary stateroom cruise offers” is standard wording.

Dog did you get your deposit and taxes refunded yet?  If not email Jennifer Wright (email address in your roll call thread) and she will fix it for you.  I did that last night and within 10 minutes I had my full refund.

As I said in the roll call thread Dog you don’t need to apologize to any of us.  You were only sharing what seemed like an amazing deal.  Sadly it seems the Princess norm, not the exception, is poor customer service and the appearance that no one knows what is going on.  The different departments appear to be isolated, poorly functioning companies within a company.  Which in turn causes chaos and confusion when there is a problem.  Ultimately the customer is the loser.  We put up with this because the cruise itself is a decent product for the money paid.  When that changes we will move on.

My FCD & FCC are in my account. I was told the fee will be waived. After this I got a cancellation fee charge email for $540.

No credit card refunds which will take time.

I have emailed. No response to get the cancellation fee waive clarified in writing.

For my August 2024 Boston-Greenland roundtrip booking, I can see that the cabin has been changed from guaranteed mid-aft obstructed oceanview category to a guaranteed forward inside category and the Plus benefits have been removed.  However, I have yet to receive an e-mail notifying me of these changes.  Is anybody else still waiting for the e-mail?  I've checked my spam folder and don't see anything there either.

As I said when this was first reported it is a glitch in the system. I would have questioned getting something for nothing. Remember if it looks too good to be true it probably is

Here is the discounted pricing for the various cabins on the Star October 2025 cruise, per Jen Wright:

Hello Susan -

I am including the pricing options below should you be interested in the discounted upgrade.  We can honor the interior room complimentary, meaning at the rate you have already paid, but it does not include the Plus or Premier package.  The offer does include a $200 per person onboard credit.  Should you choose to purchase the package onboard you can use the OBC to offset some of the cost of the package which I highly recommend given all that's included.

The rates below are per person, in addition to what you have already paid.

Oceanview: $280

Deluxe Balcony:$630

Mini suite: $1050

Cabana mini suite: $1120

Sincerely,

Jen

We have not received the e-mail and our travel summary still shows the inside we picked and all the OBC’s and the Plus benefits.  Very strange 🤔
