Currently on our first Princess cruise. Is there nowhere to get a drink(ice water, tea, lemonade, etc.) without buying one after 11:30pm? What am I missing?

You can ask for a glass of water at any bar.

By 11:30pm most bars are closed except maybe Crown Grille Bar and Vista Lounge (which will have became a nightclub)

International Cafe should be able to get you a non-alcoholic drink…if not, try BellBox (what US calls room service; in the princess app)

Is there no iced tea or lemonade available in the buffet then? I'm never up that late! 😁

So far, after two nights of this cruise, the answer is no.

seldom up that late either - but I will state that if we were, I wouldn't be looking for a tea or lemonade - but the OP made a solid post that I had never thought about asking...

and depending on if you have a package - there may be a charge for room service or using the app

waiting...

Last week, I found the dispensers out of order more often than I found them working in the buffet. The staff was carrying around pitchers, probably from a dispenser in the back.

But, any bar can get you some ice water, as can the international cafe. I don't know if they have a lemonade/iced tea dispenser.

Last bar to close is Vista lounge, around 12:30 or so as I recall.  Thereafter, it's International Cafe or use your app for delivery, including alcohol which they will deliver as well.  Also, if the casino is open, you can take a seat at a machine and wait for a server, but that wait may be way longer than you want to endure, especially if its busy.

We do not have the drink package. The drink machines/ice machines are indeed out of order on this cruise (and evidently have been for several cruises) - But are closed in the late evening, anyway. Options for nonalcoholic drinks past 11 pm are a glass of water at a bar or buy something else from said bar, or purchase from medallion delivery. Last resort, tap water from your room.

We can certainly survive with these options, but this is surprising to me that it’s buy something or enjoy tap water in my room.  It is also surprising to me that a ship with @4,000 people has but 2 drink stations.

i thought the IC was almost 24/7. I guess it's closed during your trip?

The IC is open, but it does not have free drinks.

I too found the lack of drink stations in the buffet (working or not) surprising. There is also a drink station at the Wake View bar, but I don't know when it closes.

But then again, I'm usually in bed by 11:30 (not a night owl). Plus by then, I'm only drinking water since I can't do caffeine or non-diet sodas.

@BandmanYou must have an ice bucket in your room.  The "tap" water is purified and good to drink.  Grab a glass of lemonade or tea without ice earlier and put it in your refrigerator and add ice when you are ready to drink.  I agree that one should not have to do this.  Drink dispensers should work 24/7 but it is a solution under the circumstances.  I sometimes get a large glass of OJ at breakfast and store it in my refrigerator for later.  Hope you are enjoying the cruise in spite of this shortcoming.

@Bandman since I think you are on a ship right now - inquire with the crew. How about asking one of the bar or buffet staff etc. what your options are that might work out well for your needs.

or fill up a few glasses or how many you anticipate needing and put them in your fridge ,like others have said. Should you have to do that ? No ,but I think your best bet is to ask ! if you don’t ask the staff, you’ll never know.

Is there a noro outbreak?  If there is, then that might be be one reason that the water/ice dispensers are out of order.  If not, the ship must be waiting for a part to get them fixed.  Been on several ships where the missing part excuse has been given.  I'm not sure as to why Princess doesn't order several spares so that they are on hand when they are needed.

Some our friends asked for a pitcher of water when they were quarantined during the restart.  Maybe you can see if server will oblige?  They have small pitchers which will fit into the cabin mini-fridge.  I've seen them used sometimes in the morning for ice at the buffet because the other big pitchers with blue lids are occupied with water and OJ.  Worse comes to worse, maybe you can have them fill one of the thermal carafes used for coffee served when room service door hanger breakfast is ordered.  Ask to have it rinsed out well so it doesn't taste like coffee.

Save a water bottle (Buy one and reuse it if you have to) and fill it up during the day with the tea or lemonade and put it in your fridge. If you get the complimentary mini bar use one of those water bottles and refill it.

We bring soda from home in a 1 liter plastic bottles & reuse them to store juice from the buffet in the fridge. There's not much choice in the very early morning (or late night) for OJ or lemonade until they setup the stations in the buffet area.

Although inconvenient, you do what you have to do.

As far back as I can remember Princess has always indicated that beverages like lemonade, ice tea, certain juices, were available during meal times. I would not expect these to be available 24/7.

Very true but it sure would be a nice gesture to have a few pitchers of ice tea, lemonade & OJ at the IC each night.

we usually stop by the buffet after the show and get a couple of glasses of water for the meds.  Or we refill a plastic water bottle or an insulated tumbler. That way we don't have to venture out of the cabin past midnight (the horror!) in search of something to drink.

I cruised without the plus package last month for 12 days ....prior to the cruise I ordered a case (12 bottles) of water delivered to my cabin..the cost was about $7.00. The bottles came in handy for going ashore and it was nice to have bottled water chilled in the cabin.  I asked the cabin steward to provide a bucket of ice each day and he was happy to do so.      If you like fruit juice or lemonade or ice tea late at night, you could take a large glass back to your cabin during the day to keep for later. I always pack a few ziplock bags and folded peices of aluminum foil in my lugggage to cover the cup or to store a few cookies in the cabin for a late night snack.
