rp23g7 Posted May 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2017 Been on lots of cruises, and searched lots of cruises, but it seems nobody sails to Tortilla regularly. We ended up going there by mistake on a Western cruise when hurricane Wilma was going on. Rented a left hand drive car and drove on the left side of the road, that was interesting. Went to Frenchmans Cay on the other side of the island. Can't seem to find the way back there.

cksv Posted May 24, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Tortola is one of my favorite ports. Not as crowded as some of the others.

OCruisers Posted May 24, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Wish Princess would, once again, have port stops in Tortola. Lovely place. :)
Flatbush Flyer Posted May 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Tortola was great before cruise ships. Nonetheless, still a great place to start a sailing charter. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
canadarocks Posted May 24, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Don't know if it's a regular stop, but we were in Tortola on Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam in January of this year.
Rare JimmyVWine Posted May 24, 2017 #12 Share Posted May 24, 2017 Tortola was great before cruise ships. Nonetheless, still a great place to start a sailing charter. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Agree. With the exception of St. Thomas, I wish that cruise ships would leave the Virgin Islands (U.S. and British) alone. Trunk Bay is testament to what cruise ship crowds can do to paradise. Would hate to see the same fate befall Cinnamon Bay, Cane Garden Bay, Brewer's Bay and The Baths. Some places just don't absorb crowds well. These are places tailor made for sailing charters or land-based visitors. Not excursion tenders. jocap Posted May 24, 2017 #14 Share Posted May 24, 2017 I notice there's a lot of European ships visiting- Costa, MSC, Fred O, Thomson. P&O has 2 ships based in the Caribbean over winter, and they do regular visits in their fortnightly schedule.
