Lanyard and S & S card

Newbie here. What are the dimensions of the S & S card. Does Carnival hand out lanyards for the card and do they punch a hole in it for you too? Should we buy our own lanyard with plastic pouch on it?

There is such a huge variety of lanyards to pick from. Some with a plastic pouch, and many without. You can find basic lanyards at office supply stores, sports themed lanyards at places like Dick's Sporting Goods, or shop online at places like Amazon. If you're feeling crafty, you can get the items you need to make your own lanyard at places like Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

  1. S&S card is the size of your DL or CC.
  2. You can buy your own if you like. Last year we did the Carnival Victory and we got 4 lanyards from Carnival for free for signing up for a CCL Credit Card. We were approved and received our cards but got more use out of the Lanyards.

Just off the Miracle, and we just used the same lanyards from last year (hole punched yes) but it appears that they were giving these away as gifts when purchasing every 2 photos from the on board photographers (elegant night back drops, excursion photos, etc).Hope this helps.

An alternative to a lanyard, we got these things made for keys that you put on your wrist. Kind of like a rubber springy thing (I know my description sucks lol). We just clipped our card on those. I would put mine on my purse if I had it, if I didn't want to carry anything I would throw it on my wrist.

It was nice for when you wouldn't want anything hanging on your neck, less noticeable and they were rubber so we could have even gone in the hot tub, water slide etc with them on.

I just threw out about 8 lanyards I had gotten on previous premier casino cruises knowing I have another premier booked as my next cruise. Most of my S&S cards do come with a hole punched in them so they can either hang from a lanyard clasp or go in a plastic card holder.

Carnival does sell their lanyards in their clothing/merchandise store for $8, but one could go to the casino and get one for free.

We bought 4 of these a couple of years ago when our adult daughter and a niece went with us.

It's funny people saying they are expensive on the ship. I bought one for $5.00 on Princess. The ones in your link were $5.92. Just wanted to let people know. The ones in your link are really cute. I have my Princess one and one I got on Carnival when I did the behind the fun tour. I am surprised they are $8.00 on Carnival.

I got them for $1.29 each at Target. Nothing fancy, just plain ribbon type thing with a clip, with everyone getting a different color. On our last sailing (not CCL) they had "run out" of the free ones and we were stuck buying them in the gift shop. I didn't want to get stuck having to do that again for 5 of us.

I've tried the casino lanyards - don't care for them. And yes, they are free. They are that springy kind & we had one break on us. I use a nylon one with a clip that my hubby got on a business trip. I like it because I can wear it while in the pool/hot tub - handy when the waiters come around. We also have some from the photo shop on the ship that have a plastic pocket. We have a waterproof pouch on a lanyard that we use for beach trips - holds id, cash, sail & sign, credit cards, excursion tickets. The brand on it is drypak. My old phone used to fit in it, but my new one is too big. I just don't take it ashore unless I am looking to pick up wifi in port.

Just do what you do with a credit card keep it in your pocket. No need to wear it IMO

I wear mine because I don't have pockets on most of my clothes and I don't like carrying a purse on the ship. Fanny pack is definitely out. It makes my butt look big(ger) [emoji23].

Butts are good LOL.. I have my other reasons.. Why I don't Lot of hateraid on the ships some times

Yeah, I don't worry about anyone else. I do what works for me. If they want to give me an attitude about the color of my card, then that's on them. Doesn't bother me and I've never had that issue. And if they think it's tacky to wear lanyards, then I don't care either. I'm not there to impress anyone.

I would rather look like a goofy goober wearing my lanyard with my S&S card than have it lost or stolen, either on the ship or out of my beach bag in port.

I always leave my credit card, driver's license, passport, etc. in the room safe when I am on the ship. When we are in port we take driver's licenses and one credit card for the group, and one of us wears them in a waterproof pouch thing around our neck if we are going swimming. Years ago I was on Spring Break in the Caribbean and one of my friends had her credit card and license stolen out of her beach bag - we were literally right there, talking to some friends a few lounge chairs over, and someone still managed to take it. I learned from that and don't take any chances.

I use a key chain with an anchor charm on it that my daughter bought for me from Icing. There was one clip on it when I received it. I added a 2nd clip. One clip gets attached to my S&S card. The other clip gets attached to whatever is handy....purse, beach bag, belt loop, etc or to just carry in my hand or pocket. Easy to unclip/clip to hand to the bartender, exit/enter ship, etc. I used lanyards on our fist few cruises and have found this to be much more convenient for me.
