  1. Good morning from rainy SW Michigan.  Thanks for the Daily Reports and Maps Jacqui and Roy!   I like peanut butter on a low carb English muffin though the jelly we have is set aside for the Baltimore Orioles when they show in a few weeks.   @MISTER 67 Congratulations on your first big job as produce manager, what a mess on ordering though, either run out or have a bunch of stuff go bad.  A good quote by Keith.   I will pass on today's cocktail, lavender belongs in soap not a cocktail, I make Keto French toast with real 1/2 + 1/2 with sugar free syrup.   I think I had the wine before.   I look forward to some photos of today's port but if Lenda or Sandi don't have them I hope some show up.

Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports Vanessa.  I hope you slept better last night. @smitty34877 prayers for Tana, I worry when you said her cough and wheezing were different.   @doobieb Good luck with the bad storms going through.   John and I were driving home from Fort Lauderdale and spent the night in Huntsville.  We heard the weather reports for our morning drive and thankfully just as the storm arrived a rest area appeared and we pulled off to wait it out.  Lots of lightning.  When we travel south and north we always worry about some of the late winter storms you get in your state.  Prayers for everyone in war zones, the people of Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.

Since it is a lousy day we are sticking close to home.  Snow in the forecast for tomorrow, then finally I hope it warms up.  I got a happy gift from Direct TV (don't get those often) with a free week of the MLB out of market feeds.  I got to see Opening Day for the Orioles, part of Saturday's game.   I have two more free games tonight versus the Royals and tomorrow afternoon with the same team.   Hopefully they can get some nationally covered games more than in the past.  Have a lovely day!.  Nancy

I would suspect it comes from Norway. The US has banned seafood imports from Russia, including King Crab.

As of Valentine's Day 2024 HA still stocked Russian caviar.   This time I asked to see the jar before ordering.  This was the Eurodam.  I have seen others posting caviar and the lid definitely didn't say RUSS.   Needless to say I passed.

  3. @ger_77 What a wonderful friend you are to Ollie.  I am so glad that the Social Worker got hold of you to assist her and be there for her moral support in her grief and the hard decision she had to make.   I would guess from your communication about her situation she has no family nearby.   You did what good friends do, try to enjoy your time with Ollie this evening.

@kazu I am so happy to read that you found someone to stay with Ivan during your cruise.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Happy to read you are on the road today.

@StLouisCruisers and @bennybear thanks for sharing the photos of Tokyo.

I have got a lot accomplished today and am waiting for a call from my insurance broker's office.  Frankenmuth Insurance raised my homeowners by almost $500 for the year.   I haven't had a claim other than a new roof after a hail storm and that was replaced 2 years ago.   Everyone in town got a new roof.  I am going to ask her to check with other companies that they work with.  I don't pay it my DD DH's trust pays for it but I think it is too big of a jump.

Many thanks to everyone for your kind words about April 1.   Trying to stay busy today and it is working to keep my mind off things.   No rain yet so sunshine always helps too.

  4. Good morning everyone!  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports and maps Jacqui and Roy and for Sandi to note the NS is heading to Puerta Plata.   A sad quote by MM/   I would love one of those beautiful charcuterie boards, dates instead of figs please.  I am still getting over my date addiction from our days on the Eurodam.   The cocktail looks like a good one to ask for on a BHB and today's Cava looks wonderful.   I haven't been to Tokyo.  Thanks for finding these for us each day!

Prayers for everyone on our care list, especially Vanessa and Tana.  Prayers for everyone in war zones through no fault of their own, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.

Today's is April Fools and John hasn't tried to trick me, he usually fails as I have 4/1 burned into my heart as 9 years ago I took my DD DH to the hospital, he never was to return home.  It is a beautiful day here but three days of rain and possible snow on Wednesday are due.    I have a lot of admin catch up to do today.  I have to start reviewing for a talk I do next Monday and the following week another Zoom class on a totally different topic.  Hopefully it will get warm here soon.  Have a lovely Monday!  Nancy

  5. Good afternoon everyone.  Thanks for the daily reports and the maps Jacqui and Roy.  I used Bunsen Burners a lot in college but that was a long time ago.  Cesar Chavez did a lot to help the labor movement in the southwest to help people who couldn't speak for themselves.  Wages and working conditions got somewhat better.   I agree with Steven King's quote.  Reading the words makes them "live" in our brains, helps with spelling too.  Haven't been to today's port so thanks for the photos @Quartzsite Cruiser.   I hope you can leave on time tomorrow and safe travels on your way to your summer home in Texas.

I will pass on the spinach eggs and the fussy cocktail but will take a double dose of today's wine. Thanks for finding these for us each day!

@JazzyV thanks for the cares and celebrations reports.   I pray that your surgery will give you the pain relief that you need and you can sleep very well.  Prayers for Tana today in addition to Gord.  Prayers for everyone in our group needing them and those suffering in war zones, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.  I pray that they can return to peace in Haiti.

Originally John said let's go out for dinner today but we didn't make a reservation and the only walk in place is the buffet at the casino at $54 per person.  On top of that they have switched to plastic drinkware which I think is gross.   We are going to have a nice restaurant dinner later this week in a good restaurant with real glassware.  I have a big box of Gulf shrimp in the freezer and we are going to have scampi on linguini.  We are going to really blow the carbs because I found some beautiful ear corn at the grocery.  Please enjoy your time with family today everyone!  Nancy

I have not seen King Crab on any menu including Pinnacle in a long time.  Most recently the Pinnacle had crab legs (not King) for an up charge but even that was prior to shutdown.   Rudi’s which is no longer onboard, at one time had King Crab.   Your best bet is to find them shoreside depending on your cruise destination.

I am curious what they are doing with the Rudi's space on the Konigsdam since we are sailing her next year.

  7. Agree with @dogo88 the MDR has stepped it up.    Early in our Eurodam B2Bs we had a Pinnacle dinner and there were probably 4 sticks of pencil asparagus in our side dish.  Plus the service was so slow we had burned through the bottle of wine we had bought from the package before we got our entrees.  We asked for a complimentary glass of wine each.  They obliged but sent two each.  Didn't need that much wine, just a timely dinner.   That was the end of dining at our preferred hour and changed all bookings to 5:00.  Still wasn't 100% but much better.

  8. We were in Rio last February 2023.  We did no tours because they all involved heights and the land based were cancelled because of Carnival.  The Carnival photos were not mine but shared with permission from our Facebook group.  There were several people in the group who got the reserved seats which were primo and that is who published these photos .I remember @lindaler told me the regular HA seating was crowded and people would not sit down.  Still hoping GSA is offered in 2026.

  9. Good morning everyone.  I woke at 6:15 when John woke and was ready to turn the TV on to wake up but he called an audible and said he didn't feel like driving a long way in the rain.  Yippee!   Back to sleep.    I had planned to watch the Dubai World Cup races today so I am happily seated in my easy chair watching all the pageantry and horses from all over the world.   Then another wasted afternoon watching all the races from Gulfstream Park for Florida Derby day.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @kazu and for the maps @rafinmd.   Doctors deserve their day for sure!  Our local Western Michigan University residents voted to have a union because they are worked so much.  That is always the way it has been so I don't know where the hospital will get the necessary backup and that they will get the extra hours of experience.   A good friend is a retired Ob/Gyn and he said all his residents were always looking stuff up on their phones versus learning it from the book.   A good quote by Wilde.   Thanks for the photos of Rio @StLouisCruisers.   I will have to see what I can find in the computer versus what is on my phone.

Vanessa I hope that you got some sleep last night and I pray that you get your needed relief with your surgery next month.   Prayers for all on our care list and for those that are ailing that are not on it.  Prayers for those in war zones through no fault of their own, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.  Prayers for all involved in the collapse and clean up of the Key Bridge.

  10. Good morning everyone.  Today is Good Friday.  ✝️ Thanks for the Daily Reports and maps Jacqui and Roy.   A good quote by Truman Capote.   I will pass on the Broccoli, the melon drink but I'll make up with a triple of today's vino.  I have never had it.   Thanks for the photos of today's port Sandi!

Prayers for everyone on our care list, thanks for keeping this up to date for us Vanessa while you are going through your own trials with your leg pain.   Prayers for Tana, Allan and other in our group or their spouses are ailing.  Dixie I hope no damage from your golf cart knock over.  Prayers for those in war zones under fire, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.  I hope Haiti can get straightened out.

Nothing major happening here.  John is going to power wash the deck today.  Way last fall I had scheduled window cleaners for next week in anticipation for a shower for my niece.   Since my family nearby weren't flexible the shower is off but the window cleaners are still coming.  Power washing first then window cleaning.   It is a cold but beautiful morning.

Since I had heard that HA is sailing fewer ships out of Port Everglades I got to work on scheduling our back up winter getaway so unless there is a January Grand SA, Australia or Africa in 2026 we will be going round and round the Caribbean on the Konigsdam.  John wants to make a very early road trip tomorrow so I will be late checking in tomorrow.   Have a lovely Good Friday.  Nancy

  11. Good morning everyone!   Thanks for the Daily Reports each day Jacqui and for the maps Roy.  The maps make it easy to see where the ships are and the direction they are heading.   Holy Thursday, special prayers for this day.  Hopefully opening day will be a go today in Baltimore,  I understand they have a very good team.  It is hard to keep up with them since I moved away. Go Birds!  A very good quote from Kathryn Hepburn.  The salads all look yummy especially the spiralizer one, I don't own one though.   Pass on the Campari cocktail but today's Bordeaux wine looks like a spendy winner.  I was unfamiliar with the winery.   Thanks for researching these for us each day ladies.

Dixie I hope that you are not too badly hurt in light of all of your bruises.  Prayers for everyone on our care list, especially Tana and Allan.   Prayers for everyone in war zones through no fault of their own, the people of Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.    Continued prayers for all involved the horrible bridge collapse in Baltimore and the people who are without work for the foreseeable future.

It is a beautiful day here though still quite frosty.  We were invaded by a large flock of Grackles that didn't belong here so the feeders weren't filled until after they left.  I let them get empty at the end of the day as we have a pesky raccoon that knows how to pull the feeder over to the top rail and licks the seed out of the feeder at night.   House cleaning today and helping John get his lawn aerator hooked up, and working on the plant list that still isn't complete.  Have a nice day!  Nancy

  12. Good morning everyone!  Another cloudy day here with gusty winds.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports and the maps Jacqui and Roy.    I'll celebrate whiskey day tonight after dinner.  I have several to choose from but I guess since one is a whisky I better choose the bourbon whiskey.  A funny quote today.   Thanks for the photos of Falmouth @grapau27 and @StLouisCruisers.

Vanessa thank you for the cares and celebrations list.  Prayers for the poor immigrants who perished just doing their job on the FSK Bridge.  Kudos the MD Transport Police for closing the bridge so quickly, it was scary watching the last two cars and a semi crossing the bridge and getting off right before the bridge strike.   Prayers for everyone on our care list, @JazzyV I hope you got some sleep last night.   Prayers for all in war zones, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.

I got sick of waiting for the Tours by Locals guide in Papeete to reply so I contacted one of his colleagues.  Her English is Advanced versus Fluent but she has an 8 passenger van for 6 max for the tour.  I already have 2 couples interested in our very active roll call.

We are heading out after lunch to take a couple of pair of shoes that need repair and probably hit the local casino and go to our favorite dumpy tavern for dinner.   We don't eat there much because we aren't in this home much.   I got a lot of my plant list done for my talk but I put the photos aside for awhile.  It is hard to go through them and weed out some and then get so many happy memories of a lifetime ago.   April is a rough month for me many years.    Have a lovely day!  Nancy
