E ticket says 14 30. Platinum level. Would you go earlier?

Just turn up whatever time you fancy. Cunard are not gits and will not leave you hanging around to prove a point.

On my last cruise my boarding time was 1.30 but I turned up at 11.30 and was on by 12.

We are Platinum level and on our cruise in October it states a time of 1-30 but as a benefit of priority boarding for Platinum we will be checking in around midday.

I am sorry, but I cannot agree with the advice Pisca has given, whereby you just arrive at will. Cunard stagger the boarding times in the hope that the boarding process will be more comfortable for all.

Given the number of Platinum and Diamond WC members now, perhaps that is why on the Cunard website it says that these members will be given priority boarding where “operationally possible”. Does this now mean that that on some cruises there is just such a high percentage of such pax, that one is given the later boarding time as morgotom10 has?

Possibly, we've had 12.30 but our recent cruises have been on Queen Victoria where it might be less of a problem.

I am Diamond and have been given a time of 1.30 for my QM2 crossing in November. I will be there early as there is not much to do in Southampton on a Sunday morning, if I have to wait then so be it.

We have been given 3:30pm for boarding in Hamburg. We have cruised six different lines (usually on around noon, in time for a spot of lunch) but this is the first time on Cunard. I suspect that there will be lots of round-trip passengers from Southampton so the Hamburg boarding will be well short of a full shipload.

We've sailed on about 9 or 10 lines, but unfortunately Cunard is the only one where we have had to wait for a very long time to board. We've boarded at many ports on Cunard and the experience varies from port-to-port, with the best experience in Southampton. My advice is the following: Follow the boarding time you have been provided on your e-ticket, otherwise, if you arrive much earlier, you run the risk of waiting a long time, and sometimes the condition of the waiting space will be unpleasant.

Off he went to check and came back to tell me that the 3.30 boarding time was because we are on deck 4 and that an earlier time was never printed on the e-ticket under those circumstances. As we all know, that is incorrect.

I almost gave up at this point, but persevered and spoke to a supervisor. What we have to do is arrive at the usual time, around 12 noon, and point to the mention of "Diamond" (or Platinum) on the e-ticket - we will be boarded straight away.

We shall see.

The higher your accommodation deck, the earlier you board. The current CUNARD system seems to simply churn out boarding times on that basis and appears incapable of recognising you membership tier perks. However if you turn up early and show your status, then you will be given priority boarding. Since this now applies to such a high percentage of passengers, this may or may not be earlier than on your ticket.

The perk of priority boarding has nothing to do with what deck your cabin is on it is a perk of CWC for Diamond and Platinum members at New York and Southampton where operationally possible.

same with us Diamond 1400 boarding phoned Cunard told to show Diamond on e ticket on arrival and will be boarded straight away at 1200

We are first time Cunarders and for our TA on 18th October we've been allocated a 1330 embarkation time, so I guess we're really lucky. We are on deck 11, Brittania.

We are Platinum so get priority embarkation but have also been given a time of 1330 for our check in on 18th October but we will be arriving at about 1130-1200. We are travelling down from Staffordshire the day before and staying in hotel night before cruise. We are also on deck 11.

I had to read your post twice....apart from the Platinum bit it's exactly the same as us...travelling down from Staffordshire the day before, staying in hotel, boarding at 1330 and on Deck 11 - you'll probably be in the next cabin to us!!!

My Brother in Law and his wife are getting on the train at Stafford and we're getting on at Birmingham. I drive trains for CrossCountry so it will be nice for me to relax whilst one of my colleagues chauffeurs me to Southampton. Are you travelling by train too?

And if I had needed to wait then I would have waited.

However as I mentioned, Cunard are not gits and will not keep people waiting unnecessarily and will board early arrivers if they can.

My boarding time in NYC is 3 pm. Perhaps, by then, with so many others having boarded early, my boarding shall be absent any long queue following a late leisurely lunch in Red Hook.

We found that in Southampton last month at 2.30, up the escalators straight to check in desk 1 person ahead of us at security and in our cabin 20 mins after leaving car.

If you get on board earlier than your ticket states your bags are unlikely to be in your cabin but if you board as per ticket time they usually are in our experience, which we prefer but might not bother anyone else

For our next cruise our embarkation time is 1pm but as we will be arriving by coach at about 3 pm don’t mind if someone takes our earlier slot.

The perk of priority boarding has nothing to do with what deck your cabin is on it is a perk of CWC for Diamond and Platinum members at New York and Southampton where operationally possible.

DW and I are Diamond and we have also been given 14:30 for our forthcoming BTB TA next month. I must say that I've always understood the privilege to be priority embarkation which was supported by the hitherto noon check-in time we have previously been allocated.

However, if one reads the benefit blurb verbatim, it actually says priority check-in and I wonder whether Cunard really mean that Platinum and Diamond Cunarders are given priority over others checking-in at the same allotted time as opposed to priority over the entire ship. That said, I suspect the "priority" relevance/benefit gradually reduces as the boarding process proceeds and there are little or no queues.

Interestingly, Cunard uses difference language for the end of the voyage where Diamond members enjoy priority disembarkation.
