On the way into the port our shuttle driver told us that monarch was staying and freedom is going to New York and that allure will be replacing freedom. I didn't know if I should believe him but I'll pass along the gossip!:D

And the shuttle driver's name was Lester Goldstein and he heard the above from his Uncle Adam? :D

Right now there are three ships that don't show up on the calendar after March, 2013 - Monarch, Navigator, and Voyager, so either one could replace Monarch, or one of those two could cycle into the spot vacated by the one that ultimately replaces her.

From Google Translate:

Monarch expands Pullmantur fleet in 2013

PressTUR 03.16.2012 (10h49) Pullmantur will increase its fleet to five vessels in April 2013 with the introduction of the Monarch going to count in 2013 with a fleet of five ships, increasing its total capacity by 24% or approximately 500 000 passengers.

Pullmantur says in a statement that the new ship, which was part of the Royal Caribbean fleet as Monarch of the Seas will be the flag ship, along with its twin Sovereign.

The ship will be completely refurbished before its "debut" scheduled for later in April passengers can enjoy the All Inclusive service of Pullmantur who will be present in six restaurants, four bars, disco or piano bar and cabins in 1993.

During the days are promised a set of varied activities around the two swimming pools, solarium, gym, Jacuzzi, dance floor area and recreational area and sports facilities on the highest deck of the ship.

To enjoy moments of relaxation and beauty treatments at the Monarch passengers have available to service del Mar Spa and beauty salon. The evening promises lots of entertainment in the hall of Broadway shows and glamor at the casino in the purest style of Monte Carlo and the Starlight nightclub.

The Monarch has a capacity of 2,769 passengers and was built in 1991 in the shipyard of Chantiers de l'Atlantique (now STX France) in Saint-Nazaire in France, thus becoming one of the largest cruise ships with 73,192 tons.

Thank you! :)

And I'm sure Lester Goldstein is in tight with a cabin steward. We all know that cabin stewards get all the best info from the top. :D

Isn't Voyager going to be in Asia ?

AAAWWWW... She was our first cruise back in the early 90's! Southern Caribbean, sweet, sweet memories! She's responsible for my cruise addiction!;)

She is responsible for our addiction too. We had our honeymoon cruise in March of '98 on her. 7 days of fun and sun!

Sailed on her when she was only 2 years old. She was my first RCI ship and first ship to absolutely wow me (she, along with her sisters, was the "Allure" of the early 90's:D).

The schedule only shows her in Asia until the end of March. Then she disappears (one month before any other RCI ship except Navigator and Monarch. When she repo'd to asia from NOLA, it took approximately 30 days, so she could easily repo back by April 24 (or at least repo to wherever the Monarch replacement is coming from). Not saying she'll be replacing Monarch, but whichever ship is replacing Monarch will either be one of these two, or will be replaced by one of these two. My best guess is say bye-bye to NOLA - again:(

Royal Caribbean shows sailings up to March 25th 2013. That is a pretty quick refurb if it is going to be ready to sail in April?

Rhapsody is being completely reconfigured in 45 days, so doing a complete refurbish in 3-4 weeks is not difficult.

I like the last one:) I would also like to see some itinerary changes, something like the Majesty does with a key west stop:)

Jewel of the Seas in PC After just cruising on Jewel out of Tampa (75 mile drive) having Jewel in PC Just over 100 mile drive would be nice. Going to be interesting to see.

Maybe with the Vision so close in Ft Lauderdale next spring, it would be able to easily move into Port Canaveral. So would the Grandeur on her way back from Panama. I'd gladly sail on either for a short cruise.

Of course, the Navigator or Mariner (please come back to PC!) would be more than welcome, too. But these ships almost seem too much for the Bahamas run. If they could do an alternating 9/5 day itinerary that would be fantastic! CT-10 will be available on Saturdays once CT-6 opens, so I do hope RC would consider having 3 ships atleast seasonally in PC.

It's sad to see her go but the bright side for me is that the Majesty is spared for a little while longer. But unfortunately it just means the clock is ticking for her as well...

I suspect the Majesty will replace the Monarch and the larger ship will go out of Miami. The Miami 3 and 4 night cruises appear to be priced slightly higher in general.

Monarch was higher for the 3 day we booked for November and there were A&C certificates offered for the Majesty, not Monarch.

Doubtful. With both DCL and Carnival stepping up their offerings out of PC, I expect RCI will move the best competitive match in its fleet into that port. Monarch may have been able to compete with Disney's Wonder and Carnival's Sensation, but with Disney placing Fantasy there to directly compete with Freedom, and Carnival building a new terminal specifically to handle larger ships, RCI needs to up its short game. I expect a Voyager class ship to end up there (although I'd love to see a Radiance class).

I will like having more options in PC! Most of the cruises I take are from either Tampa or PC since they are about equidistant from my house.
