Hi Pia!

Glad you didn't have any major delays. So it looks like we could've done brunch after all, huh? We spent the afternoon with Dee and John and did nothing but dish you. ;)

Have a great cruise!

It is unusual to go around the other side of Alcatraz. We did it on our first cruise out of San Francisco, but on all the others we have sailed past on the city side of it. Have a wonderful cruise. We will be on the next sailing to Hawaii on the 21st.

Pia, I was wondering if I would see you at check-in. I was working at the pier today. Too bad they held muster during the Blue Angels.

As far as the delayed and strange sailaway, America's Cup racing was taking place in the normal path until close to 6:00. I don't think they wanted another obstacle in the racecourse. What a gorgeous day in the city today.

The Harbourmaster will have set aside special courses for the America's Cup boats , and there would also have been special shipping lanes just for the days events.

What an exciting day to sail out of San Francisco Harbour:):)

Hi Pia! Glad your embarkation went well. We never had a problem with wine either and took 2 wine boxes and 4 bottles on board as well as my Bombay. Somebody at the CC M&G said the cut off for the Captain's lunch is 501 days so we won't be getting to that, but we haven't checked with the Captain's Circle host. Will do that today. We are on our second sea day and reach Cadiz Southern Spain tomorrow.

I am going to follow along, we were on the BVE today! What a beautiful ship! When we got off , I have never seen so many people and the streets were jamed packed today. Have a great time. The food in the dining room was excellent!

Hi USNUZULOOSE

I will be on my first Princess ship-Star - BVE in December...looking forward to that. Can you provide any more details on lunch and BVE experience? (hoping for a quick new thread to learn more... :))

Bon voyage, Pia!

And why are you losing an hour's sleep when you're heading west? Have they moved Hawaii into the Mountain Time zone?

I was thinking the same thing. Going to Hawaii you gain time with it being 3 hours earlier than the west coast. (2 hours when we go off daylight savings time)

Good Morning, it’s Sunday and it’s sort of cool. I imagine the first few sea days will be this way until we get to the warmth of Hawaii. As long as the skies are clear and sunny, I’m happy. When I reread what I had written last night, I saw an OOPS about losing an hour’s sleep. We went back, not forward, so we actually gained an hour. We’ll give it back eventually, but it’s always nice having 25 hour days instead of 23.

Surprise, surprise, we did go to the Welcome Aboard show last night; might run my image. Am I happy I did? Not really. Hard to stay awake when it’s always repetitious and sorry to say that Martyn Moss is not the most upbeat CD. The four singers however, are excellent. But the comedian, Tom McTigue, was a dud. He is THE main show tonight and unless Mike makes me go, I will find something else to do. Like read a book. We also paid a quick visit to the casino so I could begin donating to their cause. Perhaps they will eventually donate to mine.

On today’s agenda is the Eagles vs. Steelersgame on MUTS at 9:00 AM, a shopping spotlight show at 10, Bingo at 11 and a lecture, “Stargazer 101; Overview and Orientation to the Night Sky” at noon. Our Meet and Greet is scheduled for 11 in Skywalkers.

Afternoon brings more MUTS football; Broncos vs. Patriots, another lecture “Volcanoes of Hawaii” and the movie Iron Lady in the theater. As previously mentioned, the (ahem) comedian is doing three shows tonight, music and dancing only in Vista and MUTS has The Artist. Not a very exciting day at all.

The Wake Show will have one prize of the day and toda’s is a coffee card. The chances are like winning the lottery, but I will enter anyway. Oh yes, there will be ukelele lessons too.

Jim: weather was great and that’s all I could carry. J

Simon: I do hope the “dishes” were/was good.

David: Thanks for being here. Always can depend on you.

Annie: I knew if anyone would notice it would be you. <grin>

All: Yes, we saw Alcatraz and didn’t realize we weren’t

supposed to be going that way.

We’ve already been to the gym which was very crowded, so now it’s time for breakfast. See you later.

Hi Pia,

Glad you made it. I was beginning to wonder! I love eating in the dining room on embarkation day. It's a wonderful and relaxing way to start your cruise. My son and his two girls were in SF yesterday and he sent us a picture of them with the Star in the background. Hi to Mike. Enjoy your cruise!:D

On day 2 & 1/2 the weather will warm up. When we did this cruise, the on-board entertainment was great, especially a male/female duo who played in the atrium often. Plus Hawaii Bob who no longer is on board gave fantastic lectures. But I can hope you will find some good entertainment. I have neighbors on board this cruise. Their names are Ziggy and Jane. They are German and very nice folks. If you meet them, say hi to them from us.
