Guests at Blu?

5:15...lol...yes, this was a 14 day Canada/NE cruise where the average age was 80. No joke. This was the cruise that had the angry mobs screaming that they could not get into early MDR seating, neither traditional or select, and as a result the 9 pm (early seating) show was SRO, and the 7 pm (late seating) show was empty - took us two days to figure out that if we ate in Blu early (5:15), we could have our choice of seats at the 7 pm (late) show. Worked out great. And we got to eat pizza every night (which was really good, btw) after our show, stint in the casino.

I know that Blu is reserved for Aqua Class and Suite voyagers. Is one able to bring along guests from other cabin classes? If so, is the charge made to them or to the Aqua Class cabin

Many thanks!

Nope.

I was on the Equinox in Sept. and tried to bring in a couple into the Blu dining room during a somewhat slower evening.

I think during a port day that ends late, it tends to get quieter.

But I was turned down, however, I believe if I had given the host 10 dollars there would have been no issue.

Thats my opinion.,

I doubt he/she would risk their job for $10.

There are no exceptions. I can assure you that a $100 wouldn't work. They would be terminated if anyone found out. Even the Captain can't dine in Blu as several Captains have verified to me. I've been in AQ more than 25 times and would not even ask the maître 'd who I might know quite well for an exception.

well....you know what they say about opinions...

in this case you are wrong......do you really think that hasn't been tried in the 5 years Blu has been around? tried AND failed.....

Why would a well-paid, long time employee risk his/her job for your $10? Or for $100? Especially knowing that there was at least one case where a MaitreD did let some non-eligible guests into Blu and was summarily terminated.

You are correct! A Maître 'd was terminated and a letter sent to every Maître 'd about the rules. I saw the letter!

Yes they are. A cruise critic regular sailing in the Penthouse was turned down. I believe it may have been holiday cruise...but still....I was shocked by that.

I sailed as a solo in the PH on Reflection last year, and asked to bring a guest and was denied, even though I paid for 2 people in my cabin (the single supplement). They said it was due to space limitations and a policy they strictly enforce. I was then seated at a table and made to stare at an empty seat across the table from me for my meal.

On another cruise in the PH, I was unable to get a seat at Tuscan on the last night as I waited till that morning to request.

So sometimes even the best cabins can't get everything.

I have sailed in AQ twice as well and I always sail solo. One of my

cruises I had asked the Maitr'd if someone could join me and was told

no....not in an offensive way, but just that they were following policy...

which is fine with me.

As for tipping the Maitr'd to bend the policy? It is not something that

would even cross my mind.

Just my opinion but I think if you are traveling solo (and technically paying for two or close to it) I think you should be able to invite someone to Blu as your guest. But I do respect that it is the current policy and exceptions cannot be made.

From what we can tell, every night, people approach the Maitre 'D and request a table in Blu. I have yet to see the request granted. I can't imagine the mayhem that would follow if they started making exceptions!

I don't know how many requests you have been made that have been granted, but if it sbeen just these two then I'd say a 'No Can Do' approach prevails and one would think for PH it would be a customer service approach of let me see what I might be able to do.

If anyhting the Tuscan is a prime example….put you on a wait list, notify your Butler of a cancellation, send the food down to your cabin…you know, think out of the box stuff.
