cruisinbabe16 Posted July 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) I know that there have been plenty of threads about this....but I haven't had any luck finding a answer to a question my boyfriend has. He is diabetic....so he basically drinks only water....but has recently discovered some liquid flavorings that he likes. Does anyone know....if these are allowed....because technically they are liquid and in a bottle. Such as right now his favorite are the lemonade and grape flavors made by Mio. thanks Edited July 21, 2015 by cruisinbabe16
pezhead Posted July 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2015 I think that wouldn't be an issue. I use Mio on a regular basis, there is no way any booze is being smuggled in those bottles. 😀 Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk
latitude918 Posted July 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2015 I don't think you'll have a problem bringing that on. Give it a try. What are they going to do? Fire you? Give you a spanking? The worst they can do is confiscate it. Then he will just be drinking regular water.
delerium98 Posted July 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Here is what I would do. The Mios are so small I would just stick it in my pocket and walk right through on to the ship. Wear a pair of baggy cargo shorts and split up the Mios in separate pockets. If the metal detector doesn't go off then they have no reason to search your clothing. They are looking in bags and soda cartons. It's not like TSA at the airports. The second option would be to bury it in your checked luggage. I doubt they would care about water flavoring. coevan Posted July 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2015 There are plenty of powdered flavors for water as well

nwcruiselover Posted July 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2015 My understanding of the new policy is that nothing in bottles can be carried on except a bottle of wine per adult. No bottles of soda, juice, water, etc. So that means flavored water could be carried on if it's in cans, not bottles.
katiel53 Posted July 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Mio is NOT flavored water. It is a small bottle, about 2 oz or so, that is flavoring that is added to water to give it a different taste, ie lemonade etc. I don't see that this should be a problem as it's not like a bottle of water etc.
mariemorgan Posted July 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Mio isn't flavored water bottles.. they are like little koolaid squirt bottles that you put in water.
evandbob Posted July 21, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Any chance the small Mio bottles can be mistaken for the small 1 1/2 or 2 oz booze bottles?
sandij Posted July 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 21, 2015 I don't see any problem getting them onboard, just drop them in your carry on or your purse. My DH is diabetic also and uses the powder ones to flavor his water.

luv2cruise777l Posted July 21, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Put them in your toiletry bag. They are small enough that they will mingle with your other stuff.
Barbluvstocruz Posted July 21, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 21, 2015 Take them and don't worry. They are so small no one is going to mistake them for smuggled booze. Crystal light packets are also handy. I also take powdered Gatorade. Have a wonderful cruise!! :D

ready2cruzagain Posted August 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Does etc. include bottles of mouthwash, prescription medicine, shampoo, sunscreen? I asked the same thing LOL. According to the policy it states "beverages" and since one does not drink shampoo, suncscreen, etc., then they are allowed. For cruises starting on or after July 9, 2015, a change to our Liquor and Beverage Policy will take effect where guests will no longer be allowed to bring on board water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages packaged in bottles. Additionally, any confiscated items will also be discarded.
rufflesmom Posted August 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 10, 2015 We were on the Freedom in May, took some in carryon. No issues at all.
emmak8 Posted August 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 10, 2015 I wouldn't worry. Has Canival given a reason for the new policy?
lizardhowson Posted August 10, 2015 #19 Share Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) I wouldn't worry. Has Canival given a reason for the new policy? Because too many are breaking their rules about taking alcohol on board. Smuggling alcohol in soda cans is VERY hard to do. dmdiver Posted August 10, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Take sealed Mio if you are worried, but I don't think that will be a problem. Sealed would be better anyway, so the flip top doesn't accidentally get flipped open & squirt Mio all over your stuff. My hubby likes the tangerine Mio. Cruisesfun65 Posted August 10, 2015 #24 Share Posted August 10, 2015 I took bottles of water enhancers 2 weeks ago (Minute Maid and Mio) and when my carry on was inspected, they didn't even bat an eye at these bottles. They took away my juice (in a carton) because it was 16 oz. but the water enhancers were fine.
