What type room are you sailing in?

to be honest, I like insides, but NOT with small children.

Inside cabin for 10 days with a 4.5 year old coming up in a week!

Save the cash where we can and spend it on other things. The room is where we pass out at night or take a nap during the day.

Although when the prices to work out we will get a window, but it's not a deal breaker for us in any way.

I got my first balconyas an upgrade on Costa Atlantica .My boys and

I slept towhoosh whoosh of the sea with delightful seabreezes. My little guy commented. It was the bestsleep he had ever had .I agree .Sin e then I book balconies almost alwYs .Ido not like A.C.i try to turn it off as often as I can

I need to breathe fresh air ..i go out a lot ..during the day at nightin the afternoon.i have breakfadt there or very earlymorning coffee .i read outdoors ....i watch the sea .i use my balcony a lot ....stargaze at night too

To me it is not a luxury it is a necessity ...I am claustrophobic so I need the fresh air ......sure it costs more but if I cannot get a balcony ...i would prefer not to go

It's only our second cruise coming up. For our first we had a premium extended balcony on Carnival and it was great. I don't think my husband understood how big that room/balcony was compared to even just a regular balcony room though. ;)

Next month on the Breakaway we have an angled balcony cabin. Again, I don't think he gets how big of a deal that is! LOL We have cruised with our 2 children (currently 11 and 3) so any extra room is a plus and suites are out of the question. If it were just him and I, I think I would be happy with an inside even though a private balcony is awesome. We wouldn't be as tied to the room if we didn't have young kids.

On my bucket list is an aft balcony. We spent a lot of time walking the deck last time where you could stand aft and just watch the waves and ocean. So peaceful.

We started out in regular balcony cabins, then the aft balconies. We could not pass up a great deal on a Fwd PH in 2014. This past May we were in a 2 bedroom PH, because my SIL sailed with us. Our upcoming cruises are in another fwd PH and a Haven suite. Unfortunately both my DH and I work in the gas and oil industry so future bookings will be the lowest balcony we can afford. We really won't care, the suite perks are wonderful and the cabins are fabulous but as long as I can still take a cruise I will be happy anywhere on the ship!!

To each their own ;). Hope you have a fantastic cruise!

We actually have 3 kids, but the oldest is grown and out on her own, and can't afford time off work even if we pay for her to come (we did offer). She was the one we took on Carnival, and that was fine (she was 14, so it was easy, too). Now, though, we have 2 at home (7 and 4), and 22 years of parenting under our belts, we're older, hopefully wiser, and more tired. Nobody slept well last year. Hopefully we will this year!

It's a very subjective question.

When we first started cruising about 20 years ago balconies were unheard of, so it was an inside or outside. We usually had an inside because of the cost difference. Our last few cruises have been balconies but only because we have managed to get a good deal. We are retired so can go at a moments notice and in off season the really good deals are usually late. Our main criteria is cost, we have a set budget per year for holidays so cost is important.

We wouldn't go inside now, a balcony does spoil you !

We currently have booked: The Haven Penthouse, a balcony, an inside, balcony, balcony. Sometimes we cruise for the ship experience (hence, the Haven), sometimes for the itinerary, and the itinerary determines whether we book an inside or balcony. Certain ships (Epic, Oasis, Allure) we would only book a balcony or Haven/suite. These ships don't have enough public space to sit and watch the ocean.

We usually choose a balcony of some kind (reg on CCL - meh; aft on CCL - better!; reg on Oasis - nice; "Hump" balcony on X- Silhouette - amazing!), but we did an inside on HAL, which was roomy and very comfortable. (I have since discovered that was a large inside, and HAL's large insides are known to be very good for insides.)

For our next cruise (our first NCL), I found an incredible deal on an inside cabin and just couldn't pass it up, so that's what we are trying next. It's been our experience that we don't really use our balcony all that much, but it is so nice to have for sailaways and early mornings that I am sure I will miss it a little.

Another insider here. Cheaper price = more cruises. Great for the odd afternoon nap ( nice and dark). Like others say spend so little time in cabin, and to me the best bit of a cruise is mixing with others. So to me not worth the extra cost for outside/balcony/suite

Though next cruise is an outside, as booked a package and that was the cabin included.

Have been upgraded on several occasions twice to an outside and once to a balcony .

First cruise was an inside on Carnival. It was small and dark.

Every one since has had some sort of balcony.

Personally I like/need to be able to go outside and take in the morning before heading out. I also like to know what the weather is before going out for the day.

I have been in the tiniest inside cabin on the lowest deck up to a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. I don't care where I am as long as I don't have to cook, clean, and make my bed.

We are in a balcony cabin on deck 9 on our cruise in May (10 night, a first for us) and we are in a Family Suite with no balcony on deck 12 on our cruise in October. Both on the DAWN.

On Royal we always do Balcony's on NCL we do Minisuits because the bathrooms are so much bigger. Our next cruise I am surprising the family with a 2bed on Escape. Its our first time in Haven and I can not wait. Think I will have to tell DH ahead of time but maybe not the kids (14 and 12 at sailing)

Between work, school and sports we don't get to vacation more than once or twice a year so its worth it to me to have the extra space and service. I hate crowds but love the activities for my family that the big ships offer. Haven is the solution. I can have my quite place to read and relaxe they can go run up and down the slides.

We have sailed in insides, oceanview, balcony,mini-suites and suites. We are currently booked in a balcony room on our upcoming cruise. The itinerary and length of the cruise plays a major role in what kind of room we book.

My wife and I decided long ago, that a suite was just to sweet to pass up, so for the last 15 years or so, we've booked as our first choice, stern corner suites with large balconies on Princess, HAL and NCL, followed by forward facing SE suites on deck 9 aboard NCL's Jewel Class ships.;)

I haven't been in suit yet, but have been everywhere else, depends on where we are cruising, in Caribbean try and get a balcony, but only price is cheap enough. In the Med we get insides as there are so many port days. Norway and Alska Balconies are a must for us as the whole point of these destinations are the scenery, we like to be able to sit out day & night enjoy the view and see what wildlife we can see☺

Balcony (Epic)

Balcony (Gem)

Mini-suite (Epic) - Was booked as balcony and upgraded for free. Loved the mini-suite on the Epic compared to balcony on epic - so much storage and the bathtub was welcome!)

Balcony (Oasis)

Upcoming:

Inside (Escape) - Watching prices for an upgrade

Inside (Getaway) - Again, will watch prices for an upgrade.

We love having a balcony. It's habit to sit out there with coffee every morning. I love to watch us coming into shore and sailing away from there. I've taking some amazing photos from our balconies. Sad fact is that with the Canadian Dollar so low, we're having to book less expensive cabins so we can afford to still play at the casino and do some things on shore. Thank God for UBP and UDP!

On NCL, the first two were in balcony and then I discovered the aft penthouse and it has been that cabin ever since.

Our aft balcony on the Epic was really nice - very roomy, and our room steward brought us a lounger. It was great to take in sights as we were pulling into ports.

Ultimately, we just didn't spend much time out there. We'd sneak out for a minute or two, but with our next cruise being a big family vacation, I couldn't justify the price difference for two balcony cabins vs two Oceanview cabins. I did watch suite prices, though. They never did come down or I would have considered paying the extra to put all six of us in one big room!

We don't get to cruise all that often. There are simply not enough vacation days in life and way too many other obligations on the ones we have.

The one upside to that is when we do cruise we can enjoy a suite. We're going to Alaska for our honeymoon next June. I'm just too excited; it will be our first real vacation since we got engaged almost two years ago.

We've been in inside, ocean view, obstructed ocean view, mini-suite (upgrade from obstructed ocean view), balcony (upgraded from OV), and our upcoming cruise is an aft penthouse which we got an awesome deal on! I don't care what type of cabin it is as long as I'm on a ship in warm weather!!! :D Looking forward to nine weeks from Saturday when we fly from cold Upstate NY to LA to board the Jewel on Sunday!
