On the Carnival Miracle

It was the first night of the cruise Sept 24

My friend was on his first cruise ever, after years of me bragging about Carnival:rolleyes:

He had decided to do a cruise, instead Tahoe or Vegas, as he usually does for his B=Day, for the last 10 years

This was on Saturday night Embarkation day

His Bday dinner that he pre-paid for

SO he followed suggested attire of Cruise Casual from the Capers and showed up to the Steakhouse and was denied service.

He was in dress shorts, closed toe shoes and a collared shirt

WTH:confused::eek:

I am surprised only because of it being the first night. While not positive, I think all cards we have received in our cabin prior to going to the steakhouse have said no shorts. I know that we have been posts here that the steakhouse follows the MDR, just stating our history.

Pretty sure the upgraded dining rooms do not allow shorts at all, dress or not. You can do Khaki's or Slacks but not dress shorts or jeans.

First night of cruise, they have always been lax on attire, even years ago

Also on Carnival, in the past 8years I don't remember them enforcing a dress code at all

Is it possible that your experience and memories are of the MDR and not the Steakhouse? I also wonder if you friend read the MDR dress code in the Funtimes instead of the Steakhouse.

The sreakhouse does not allow shorts no matter what day it is. Its an elegent dining experience. If shorts were allowed the next would be why not tee shirts, then why not sandels. I wore dress shorts to the MDR about 5 years ago and no one said a word. I see shorts every once in a while, along with flip flops and sandels, and an occasional tee shirt.

The dress code is an aid to help what you will find others wearing.

The line he crossed was restrictions. You can't wear shorts to the steakhouse.
