nzrainbow Posted December 25, 2017 #451 Share Posted December 25, 2017 This is the reply to the email I sent requesting the information usually contained in the Cruise Log...... Complete and utter rubbish..... they didn't even bother to check their facts! The ship did NOT visit Dutch Harbour on Oct 4th..... in fact it didn't visit there at all on this cruise. We did NOT visit Nagasaki on the 31st oct. We did NOT visit NaHa on 2nd Nov. I would really rather they reinstated the proper Cruise Log and saved themselves (and me) a lot of trouble. Rare Alphen Posted December 25, 2017 #452 Share Posted December 25, 2017 We were on Collector cruise Nov 29-Dec 20 on the Koningsdam. We received this on the last night for only the last leg of our cruise: Sent from my iPhone using Forums They are obviously working on it, since Koningsdam did not have cruiselogs until now! knittinggirl Posted December 25, 2017 #453 Share Posted December 25, 2017 We were on a 38-day Collector's cruise San Francisco to Auckland, and sadly, no cruise log. They also didn't prepare any maps for Milford, Dusty and Doubtful sounds. We got one in 2016 on Voyage of the Vikings. I think the narrator on scenic cruising day had them prepared. Anybody know who's job on the ship was to prepare the cruise logs?
Rare erewhon Posted December 26, 2017 #454 Share Posted December 26, 2017 nzrainbow, Thank you for posting the response you received from HAL. A cruise log at the completion of a cruise would have a greater chance of correct information.
KroozNut Posted December 26, 2017 #455 Share Posted December 26, 2017 That's exactly what I got on Eurodam. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app That is very cool. Hope Eurodam continues providing them!

Nanner Posted December 27, 2017 #457 Share Posted December 27, 2017 As another noted, we did not receive a cruise log (first time ever) on the Koningsdam in March, 2017. We were told it was the new policy. I am glad to hear some of the other ships didn't follow suite immediately. I think it's shameful that they weren't even offered for a cruise as special as VotV. We are going on a string of 3 cruises this coming year, and it will get very hard to recall where we were and when without the logs to assist. We always enjoy and keep them, the only real "souvenir" from the ship after some photos from the first few voyages. They took up very little luggage space and we also loved the statistics included. Bad move, and while we noted it on our surveys in March, we will add to the email chorus!

Kind regards, Jennifer Lake Special Advisor Office of the President NZRainbow, if you are willing to post your e-mail address, I can send you the info from Vancouver to HK. We weren't on the HK to Singapore portion of the cruise so I don't have that info. Don't write out your address the normal way put spaces between each section and use at for the @ symbol and dot for the period. I had already registered a complaint to Orlando's office before the cruise. And arrangements were made for me to receive the info which we did at the end of our cruise in HK. I wasn't concerned about the arrival and departure times as my DH had already recorded that info. What I wanted was the nautical miles traveled each day and the speed. And the total distance traveled. My husband used that info for our cruise diary which I posted with our photos on Facebook as I don't do a blog. Avery's Gram Posted December 29, 2017 #459 Share Posted December 29, 2017 They are obviously working on it, since Koningsdam did not have cruiselogs until now! Just off the Zuiderdam yesterday, and that is the sort of cruise log we received. Dining room information regarding breakfast opening time was included in the disembarkation letter. Barbara M. Wehwalt Posted December 29, 2017 #461 Share Posted December 29, 2017 I'm on the Amsterdam, having joined the Grand Asia in Sydney. In my mailbox was the "cruise log" for the previous segment (from Hong Kong), with distances sailed between ports and the names of the officers. On one side of paper. When I got off last Wednesday, I received a similar one for the Sydney-San Diego segment.
JennysUncle Posted January 18, 2018 Author #462 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Near the bottom of the "Current Captains" thread, Copper10-8 reports that "they are working on a different version of the cruise log". People have been sporadically reporting different variations being given out; maybe these are trials. Sounds like something 'new and improved' may roll out eventually. OlsSalt Posted January 18, 2018 #463 Share Posted January 18, 2018 We got a very lovely cruise log after our recent holiday 2017 Veendam cruise that included Cuba - new format - very nice. Actually includes the name of the ship which curiously the former ones were lacking.
