Non Haven Suite check in at Miami

This is the first, and probably last, time we are in a non-haven two bedroom suite on the Jade in April. Do we check in at the Haven check in. Can we go to the Haven lounge before boarding or is there a separate waiting area for non-Haven suites?

Leaving from Miami.

Why would you even THINK you could use The Haven check-in????

We used the same check-in as the Haven suites when we had a penthouse suite on the Jade. It was a few years ago and it was in Southampton so I understand that I may not be like that but I really understand why someone might think that they can use that check-in.

As you can see in my reply abowe your question wasn't strange at all.

If you can't use the Haven lounge they must have another waiting area for suites, I think.

At the New York port, Haven and non-Haven suites use the exact SAME check-in procedure AND lounge. Not a strange question at all! In fact, I'd like the answer myself - I am booked in a non-Haven suite on the Jade in March.

I sailed out of Miami last December on the Jewel in a non-Haven 2br suite. There is a room with a Haven banner on the left just after passing through security which is where all suite guests should check in. Be careful, as in my case we arrived early and when I asked if non-Haven suites could check in there the lady at the desk said no and sent me to the regular lines. Once at a regular check in agent I was told I was in the wrong line and escorted back to the Haven check in area to get my cards, etc.... The lady who refused me earlier had no idea and actually ran over to the lines to collect other people she had turned away. I guess they are used to the BA and Escape with no non-Haven full suites and get pestered all the time with Mini-Suites trying to check in there.

There were two areas that both Haven and non-Haven passengers could wait before boarding.

On the Jade in Nov in Miami, the suite and the Haven check was the same area -- we were in a SE suite and the suite and Haven guests were checked in a small area together with some snacks but it is so small that guests were escorted up in groups of 10-20 so that there would be room for others to check in. Upstairs waiting area is separate from everyone else and all Haven/suite guests were escorted in by Lucille who is the asst concierge at the same time onboard straight to Moderno. Jade boarding is different due to its terminal size. There also is not a Haven restaurant on Jade so Haven and suite guest eat at Moderno/Cagney's for breakfast and lunch.

Just a curious question, for those ships with Suites and Haven suites, why would you pay the extra $1,000+ per person just for the private sun deck?

For those who like to use pools and hot tubs the courtyard ones are small but less crowded. Although some people have horror stories I have always found the haven pool areas yo be more relaxing and quieter.

Also, proximity is better. If you want to hang out there.

It's all about options.

Someone booked in an interior might question why someone else pays extra for an oceanview.

Someone booked in an oceanview might question why someone else pays extra for a balcony.

In each case, the more expensive option offers something better than the less expensive option. If the guest feels that the cost is worth it, they will pay extra.

There is a list of things that booking a suite/Haven offers over a non-suite. For us, those things are worth it. HOWEVER, if NCL continues to inflate Haven prices while other "ship-within-a-ship" options are out there, it will become more difficult to justify the Haven cost.

It's not only for the private sun deck, suites, especially Haven suites have more perks than just a private sun deck. It's a matter of cabin preference - why does anyone pay more for a balcony rather than an inside?

Wow, I would think if a person forked out the big bucks for any suite larger than a mini suite, would get all the suite perks and access to the Haven.

Did a cabin crawl on the Escape, went to the Haven and a non Haven, aft suite. The aft suite was much larger then the Haven suite. The folks in the Aft suite did say they had access to the Haven.

For my money, I'd much rather have the Aft suite with the really large balcony than the Haven.

On Escape and many other newer ships, all suites have equal Haven access.

The H6 that you saw was larger than the "inside the complex" H5 but the H4, H3, and H2 are either larger, nicer, or both compared to the H6. The H2 will be larger in size, have a 2nd bedroom, and a larger balcony than the H6...also a larger price. ;)

On some of the older ships, some suites do not have Haven access.

There are suites on ship that were built prior to the Epic that get all the suite perks except access to the Haven

There may be a separate line for suites at the main check in counter, however I can definitively say that you will not be permitted to use the Haven check-in lounge.

This is definitely incorrect. Suites and Havens all use the same suites check-in that is just beyond security.

Those suites are called Haven Aft Penthouses on the Escape, Epic, and -aways. They are not geographically in the Haven, but they are Haven suites.

Actually I am just talking about the difference between Haven and non-Haven suites. On the Jewel the aft Penthouse suite is larger and with a larger private deck than the Haven Penthouse, it has all the exact same perks as the Haven suites except it does not have access to the private sun area with small pool and hot tub. And for my cruise is costing me $3,500 per person less (3 week). When I looked at shorter cruises just to compare it looked like about $1k per person difference for a week.

Yes, I agree, all the other suite perks are substantial and create value for those who will use them, so does the private area. But is it worth $1k per week?
