Landmark Sale (May 1 – June 19, 2018)

We have a 2019 British Isles booked out of Dublin. They have a stranglehold on the number of cabins they are releasing for that port. I had to play games to get the obc with the 3 cabins we had booked.

Cabin 1 - I had to change our cabin up one category to release our cabin, understanding that we might lose our cabin and be stuck with a slightly higher price and less desirable cabin. Before they finalized the details, I saw my old cabin pop up and asked to be put back. It was all a pain, and took an hour and half of my time, but for $1000, worth the effort and risk.

Cabin 2 - Minisuite, they refared with no issue. Took minutes.

Cabin 3- Minisuite, (same category as above), not a clue what went wrong. It took another hour and half to get this one cleared up. Instead of having us book up one, clear the cabin and rebook, they went to a supervisor to add the obc. When it finally came back, they had jerked the price way up. They had to call back, (we use a big box co), and start all over again. It was a mess and would have been easier to take a risk on losing the cabin and booking up one and then moving back.

Long story short, all the cabins are unchanged and all have the obc applied now. I seriously doubt we'll get any further deals applied to that trip given the stranglehold on cabins out of Dublin. Knowing this now, I would not have chosen that sailing, but with a group, it is hard to move plans around.

I'm thrilled in any which case. Now we have gratuities, drinks and a couple of excursions covered, and enough ta refundable to cover hotels precruise! :D:)

The limited number of cabins out of Dublin could be because the cruise hub is Southampton. Although they sell it as various other ports, all cabins are available out of Southampton. We just booked our 25th Wedding Anniversary cruise of the BI for August 2019. Got the $500 pp credit plus $100 as a vet! Thanks to everyone for the heads up on these perks. First time on Princess and looking forward to it!

Took me a few to reconcile the "$500" and the "$100": Your cruise is 11, 12, or 13 days. Had

it been 14+, that veteran credit would have been $250.

My friend and I have a 12 day Alaska cruise booked for April 2019. When we booked we received prepaid gratuities of $162.00 pp. Saw the e-mail for the Landmark sale and our TA was able to take away the prepaid gratuities and add the $500.00 pp OBC. So thankful!

I compared my 2 cruises left this year and taking everything into consideration the prices and especially the extremely low Easy Air that I have made it a no brainer. Stick with what I have. Someone is going to be paying for the inoperative ***** in the future and I don’t think it will be the Board or President of the corporation. Mike

Just re-fared my April TA to take advantage of the new promotion. It took two calls cause the first Princess rep told me my deposit is now non refundable. I was pretty sure the Landmark Sale deposits were refundable, but didn’t have the details in front of me so I told her “never mind” and I would call back if I wanted to change my original reservation. I reviewed the sale details and, of course, found that the deposit is refundable so I called back and got a different rep. This isn’t the first time I have received conflicting info from different reps.

I found the voyage list.

Thanks

Thanks for posting the list. The good news is our cruise on the Pacific Princess, 10/30/2019, is on the list. It doesn’t look like there is any savings on the cost of the cabin but those OBCs are a nice bonus.

Even though our cruise was listed under the Landmark sale and our TA contacted Princess, she was unable to get the obc added....Their reply is that we are on a land tour/cruise and this sale doesn’t apply to land tours.
We’ve run into this sort of thing before; it is because your cruisetour is not sold as a cruise+tour with each part sold independently. You booked a package deal at a single price. If the cruise-only price goes down, you cannot get a similar price reduction in your package either. Wish I had better info for you, but that’s the way it is.:(

We got an email from our TA. By hook or crook or sheer

tenacity she was finally successful. We got the $1000 obc added to our cruise. She said Princess also sent apologies. It’s just too bad she had to spend two days on this when she has many other clients trying to book cruises. Bottom line -we’re happy.:D

I booked a TA on the Emerald for Nov. 2019, great price plus $460. OBC. I will have to figure out the best way to get from Southampton to Barcelona! I have 4 days between the 2 cruises so plenty of time!

We sailed with some folks on an Alaska cruisetour that had a similar thing happen. They took an upsell to a balcony and, even though we were booked as a connoisseur cruise tour their TA got them added under the Sip and Sail which wasn't actually included with the cruise tour. When I heard them talking about it at lunch on the last train ride (we shared a table) I was a bit bummed as we had taken an upsell to a window mini suite and apparently could have done the same thing but never even considered asking as the cruise tour wasn't included under the Sip and Sail promo. I guess it just goes to show that it never hurts to ask.

Booked the same TA. Price was great and with all of the OBC we're getting it was a no-brainer.

Without any long drawn out dialog here I saw the "Landmark" sale become available for our Sept. 2019 cruise, which we booked through Princess website when it was published, I just called Princess direct and ask them to add this sale to our sailing, bingo, bango, bongo no problem done in less than 5 minutes. I just don't understand why put a middle man into the equation, ie: Big box store or a TA.

Because we got an additional $100 OBC, specialty dining and VIP boarding from the TA. I do all the research, choose the room I want and then call the TA to book it. Then I email her whenever I see something I want her to check on, such as thenLandmark Sale, and she emails back with the new confirmation. One other time I used a TA because he was able to get me a corner aft cabin with double occupancy which could only be booked online or by calling that particular cruise for quad occupancy. He had an "in" with someone at the cruise line.

We are on the same TA. One person is talking about flying and we might look into that and maybe even check EZ Air when it's close enough to check pricing. My wife wants to take the train to Paris and spend two nights and then continue on to Barcelona. It's a high speed train but I'm not sure about the luggage issue. I'll be checking out train info on The Man in Seat 61 web page but haven't done so yet as it's still quite while until the cruise(s).

If you want to throw money at the luggage issue, luggage shippers will send a "standard bag" to

a US address from Paris for around $250. Google for "luggage forwarding service".

They can even send it from just about anywhere to a stateroom on a cruise ship at embarkation.

Nowhere does this promo say "New Bookings Only" but they certainly won't honor it at the price I already have booked. They insist that I have to book at the current pricing which makes this a non-sale for one of my booked cruises. I'm used to seeing that "New Bookings Only" notice for many sales but it's not in any of the info for this one.

I saw the sale and decided to go ahead and book an Aug 2019 British Isle trip. I got the $1000 OBC but feel like it's not such a great deal. The prices on the cruise are full price so no savings. The BI sailings for this summer are about $1,500pp less. If the price drops (which, I'm counting on) and I refare, I'll lose the original OBC anyway.

Even though our cruise was listed under the Landmark sale and our TA contacted Princess, she was unable to get the obc added. Their reply is that we are on a land tour/cruise and this sale doesn’t apply to land tours. I think Princess needs to hire IT employees who know what they are doing.

Are you saying that the cruisetour was listed under the Landmark sale or just the cruise by itself?

If the cruisetour was listed, you have a legit complaint.

But if only the cruise was listed it is no surprise to me that the sale did not apply in your case. I found out long ago that a reduction in price of a cabin did not apply to a booked cruisetour that included a cabin class that had a sale.

I see that your TA was successful, so congrats. Someone asked earlier in this thread "why use a TA?" Your success with this issue is the answer. A good TA (such as yours) will go to bat for you.

I saw that a lot after we put our land and sea tour. I would constantly see our cruise on sale but if I would click on it to get prices with the whole tour it would not be on sale. Seems to be very common. It's not fair though, because land tours greatly increased the amount of money given to princess. Especially Alaska in my opinion where the excursions are quite pricey and the only places to spend money on other food and souvenirs car Within, for the most part, the Princess Hotel compounds.

Well, you would just refare or rebook if the total savings was over $1000, right? I am hoping for another type sale for my August, 2019, European TA sailing- perfect for me would be a decent decrease in the pp fare and free gratuities!!!!!!!!!!!! Not so much concerned about OBC- would really like the decrease in fare and free gratuities. So book with the $1000 which is decent and hope for something better later - after all we have around 15-16 months to go!!!

I’m with you! I’ll wait for the price reduction and free grats. In the meantime I have $1000 OBC!

Anyone know if the Caribbean cruises for Nov. and Dec., 2019 will be released before this $1 sale is over?

Even if they’re released before the $1 one day sale on 5/10 is over the Landmark Sale does not include those cruises.

Take advantage of this landmark offer on summer 2019 cruises to destinations from Alaska to the Caribbean, Europe and Japan!”.

While the $1k OBC is specifically designated non-casino and non-gratuities, my experience

so far is that the ships' computers lose track of such distinctions once onboard. YMMV.

For the moment, leaving aside your observation about the actual behavior of the ships' computers once on board...

The flyer I have for the Landmark Sale says in the fine print that the OBC "...is not redeemable for cash, cannot be used in the casino, expires at the end of the voyage, and is not applicable during the land portion of cruisetours."

The fine print in my booking (which does reference The Landmark Sale) says that the OBC is "not refundable and not transferable." There is no reference here to not being able to use the OBC in the casino.

Nowhere have I seen that the OBC cannot be used for gratuities. Did I miss that somewhere? (Whether it ends up being enforced or not, I would at least like to know if this was stipulated somewhere.)
