Strange. Although DH plays the slots on cruises hes hardly a big spender limiting himself to $20 a day. He never plays on land. Thanks for your speedy reply

If you have played a hand on a table game or 1 spin on a Celebrity ship in the 18 month period from around 1/1/17-6/30/18 then you would have 1 point and then be Pearl status.

Ah!  That explains it, but I feel a bit of a cheat......we only spin to use the Captains Club vouchers, when one of us chooses red and the other one black so we can't lose (unless the ball lands in the green slot which it has occasionally)

I think the limit may be around $5.00 even on slots.   My spouse and I both played our free promotional -  I lost all $5.00 immediately and my spouse won and replayed the money in the slot until gone.   He is Pearl and I'm not.

We have “Pearl” on our boarding pass also and have never gambled in the casinos onboard other than the slots a few times.  When we do, we always use cash, so I don’t think they would even know who we are, let alone give us Pearl status.  Go figure!

We got that too - I thought they were renaming Elite.

I only play the slots, with cash, but I do use my seapass card each time - so they do have a record.

ahhh .. thanks for the explanation ... I have Pearl on my express pass, husband does not.  We too use cash for slots on occasion..I do recall putting our key card in the machine while we were using it.   Interesting ....wonder what this status does for us once we are on board?  We certainly don't spend more than 20 or so dollars per cruise!!

  • 3 years later...

Just viewed this post as our x press passes say elite pearl.  We should be at least emerald! With the amount of money we have put through the casino over various cruises, the problem is we always use cash so they have no idea who we are. Is this a new thing?

Does matter if you use cash, got to use your card as well, whether at a machine or a table

They know who you are because if you play at tables they scan your sea pass card and if you play slots you scan it. Blue chip has an earning period of 18 months so everything doesn’t accumulate. Trust me, after our last 2 cruises we thought we we at least be amethyst,  but are still onyx. Thankfully we have earned 2 conked cruises so that’s something!

That's the status of the Casino's Blue Chip Club and Pearl is their entry level tier. You only need 1 Tier Point to qualify so basically everyone who ever played at the Casino and signed up for BCC is Pearl.

The next level up would be Onyx (2,500 points) followed by Amethyst (25,000 points) and Sapphire (100,000 points). The real high roller levels are Sapphire Plus (500k) and Ruby (1 Million).

Here is the flyer that explains the Blue Chip Club.

There is no such thing as Emerald with Blue Chip. You have to tab your card on the machine whenever you play in order to track your activity. Same for table games. Although the tracking at the tables and the conversation to points is sketchy at times, the machines track entirely accurate.

Keep in mind that the casino points reset at the end of the qualification period unlike the Captains Club points which are lifetime.

Uh oh...I've been playing too much. I'm amethyst. I don't even know how to take advantage of the benefits, that I didn't know I have.

The freeplay based on the last cruise's gaming activity should be loaded to your promotional balance automatically. If you can't see it talk to the host or cashier. The digital photo package fee will be waived, just tell the staff at the photo shop that you're eligible based on Amethyst.

For the annual free cruise benefit you call up BCC, no need to wait for a mailer.

Priority Embarkation isn't available right now afaik, we have to adhere to the slots we get assigned.
