Is there a way to find out how full the Equinox is on the Sept 1 2019 sailing

I was wondering if there is a way to find out how many passengers will be onboard, or how many cabins are booked on our Equinox to Alaska sailing on Sept 1.

Try going to the X website and do a mock booking in the various classes of cabins. When you get to cabin choice, click on "Choose my own" and you'll see the unsold cabins in that class. Do it for each category, inside, ocean view, verandah, Concierge, Aqua and Suites.

Equinox is currently sailing the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale...

 

Eclipse is sailing to Alaska on September 1, 2019 (round trip Vancouver)...  With a week to go before departure, it is likely that the trip is now booked at or very close to capacity save for potential last minute cancellations but—by all means—research if curious...

Most cruise lines do not like cruising with empty rooms as they do not generate any income. They offer opportunities for guests to upgrade (filling the better rooms) then offer last minute bargains for cheaper rooms. If they are struggling to fill they also offer deals and promotions to guests who spend time in the casino.

 

Is there a particular reason you wish to know? For example, you have concerns about your booked room, or are you just wondering how busy the ship will be?

Equinox is sailing August 31, not September 1.

No, not always but nearly so.  Also, there can be more capacity than there are actual passengers on board since they do allow for a certain number of triple and quad occupancies, and there may be none on voyagers during school term

You are all correct, I meant the Eclipse.  I had been reading reviews of Equinox so it was stuck in my mind.  We are leaving on the Eclipse on Sept 1st to Alaska, and I was hoping there was a way to find out how full the ship will be.  Thank you for all your comments.

Not always.  We've been on a number of sailings where passenger load was between 80 and 90%, although most have been close to 100%.

It depends on what is meant by full.   Is it every cabin filled, or every cabin filled to capacity?   Then again is it filled when it reaches a percentage of sold cabins to intentionally leave some empty in case there is a problem in a cabin?  

 

Actually it shouldn't matter as long as your cabin isn’t double booked.  

 

When on board you can ask about the passenger content and they may tell you.   They have a list of the amount in each category of CC status, USA  Citizens and etc. and children on board

Celebrity does not sail a lot of ships to Alaska, so those cruises are almost always full or close to it.  Also, since that is at the end of the season the pricing is usually a little less than for summer dates which attracts us retirees and couples with no kids.  For that date there should be very few children onboard as a general rule, so most staterooms will likely have two passengers.  Again, a generalization but likely to be true.

May I ask why? Are you concerned about the potentially large number of passengers if she is full? As mentioned, ships usually sail full or close to it, and the Alaska itinerary is very popular.

I am a little concerned about how crowded it will be.  I sailed on the Norwegian Bliss last January, and that is when I decided I wanted to go for smaller ships.  I figured the Eclipse would have fewer passengers than Bliss, but I am thinking I may even try for a smaller ship than Eclipse in the future.

Bliss carries 1150 more pax than Eclipse. I haven't cruised on NCL but I have never felt like any of my X cruises were crowded. I hope you are pleasantly surprised.

Well Ritap, I have never sailed NCL but I love Celebrity and Royal. Eclipse is phenomenal and I too have never really felt crowded. Of course, you will notice the crowds on sea days, in the casino,  in the theater, and at muster, but I hope you find your space and enjoy this beautiful ship. Eclipse is not a small ship in the grand scheme of things. Let us know what you thought when you come back. 😊

How crowded a ship feels is dependent on a few things. Obviously the number of guests on board but then the ‘flow’ (ease of getting from place to place) and variety of venues comes into play.

 

We are regularly Celebrity cruisers and find the flow on Celebrity  very good. You rarely feel in a crowd, rarely feel the ‘hustle and bustle’ we have experienced on other cruise lines.

 

There are some ‘hot spot’ areas. For example, on sea days on warmer cruises the pool areas can be busy but you can usually find a sun bed...On an Alaskan cruise on sea days the Solarium pool is more likely to be busy but you will probably be able to find a sun bed, if not go up to the sky lounge instead and enjoy a drink in a pleasant lounge with great  views!

 

In our experience the only bar that is ever ever seriously crowded is the Martini bar at about 7pm...In all other bars you will almost always easily find comfortable  seats. You do not need to book for the theatre, just arrive about 10 minutes before the show and you will find a good seat. The only show that occasionally gets full is the comedian in the smaller venue. If you want to be sure of a decent seat there just arrive early.

 

Dining, if you are Select just miss peak time (7.30) and you are unlikely to wait for more than a few minutes before being seated. Even if there is a wait they will send you away with a pager rather than make you queue.

 

If you do want to experience something a little more ‘refined’ consider upgrading to a suite where you have all the benefits of a large ship but with a private lounge and restaurant to ‘escape’ to if you fancy a quieter experience.

Someone did not do their copy and paste right. How can Millie get to the east coast and then back to do a Pacific coast cruise.

It's been revolutioned, didn't you know?  If we can see these glaring mistakes, why can they not?  Do they not read it before they post it?  Look at the Solstice.......it's even worse.  Seven days into the Tahitian cruise, it's going to fly over to Barcelona!!!  Even our cruise in Oct is the wrong ship.  Whoever did this was extremely careless.

Don't know if you are still following this thread OP.  I got a notice from a site I follow, this AM and it looks like there are 5 available cabins on Eclipse, Sept 1.....3 inside, 1 o/v and 1 2C.  Maybe we should grab one of them as that is our 52nd anniversary!

I second what others have said about Eclipse.  Even if it is full, it will not seem crowded except, maybe, at the oceanview at the peak lunch time.  We were on her in April/May on the repositioning cruise from Honolulu and this was the case then.  We go to lunch either ahead of noon or a bit late to avoid the crowding.

We are on the Equinox now and the cruise director told me the ship was not full. When I asked him how many empty cabins there were, he wouldn’t give me a number.

Thank you, Chemmo.  We still don't feel old, but I guess this is going to happen one of these days.😉  I say cruise while you can!  We are on Summit in Oct, otherwise we would probably be on this one since there is no airfare involved.
