Lovely gardens. Looking at those pictures of the long lawned walkways, I can picture elegant ladies in long dresses and parasols, being escorted by  gentlemen in frock coats and  breeches.

Big sigh....☺️

Good afternoon.

Not too bad a day now after last night's rain. Very misty and damp first thing, but it's brighter now, if still chilly.

Nothing planned for us today, just the usual round of washing up, cooking, dusting and hoovering.

I hope everyone has a more interesting day planned wherever you are in the the world.

Best wishes to @Beckettand I hope you are well.x

Take care all.

Avril

I’m having a right pickle this morning trying to print off my luggage labels!! I’ve checked in and all details up to date and uploaded our photos but can’t access the luggage labels, anyone got any ideas please?

I always get my TA to print ours because it always says not available when I check in.

Quite pleasant 25o in Gran Canaria apart from an old tub spoiling the view. I bet some of you have fond memories of her.

It's nice to see the oldies doing something useful. At least that's what DW said to me.🤔

Good morning.

Another morning with heavy rain, hopefully it will clear up for the weekend.  I don't think.that I will take the dog for a walk after I have dropped my niece off at school this morning.

It could be worse, I have just heard on the news about Hurricane Helene hitting Florida and officials warning the inhabitants who haven't  already moved to higher ground to stay indoors.

Stay safe whatever you have planned today.

Good morning.

Not such a good one really though, the strong winds and rain overnight made for a very disturbed sleep. It's calmed down a lot now and the sun keeps trying to show his face, so it could pick up later🤞

The most exciting thing on the agenda today, other than the usual household chores, is bringing in the wheelie bin.😁

Such an exciting life I lead, I can hardly contain myself😃

Enjoy your day everyone, whatever you're doing and wherever you're doing it ☺️

Take care

Avril

Extremely cold again today but sunny and crisp.  Nice day for a walk.

The news is all depressing at the moment so I have been listening to more audible books if I can’t sleep at night (which is most nights now).

I love a proper book but audible is great for the things that I would probably not work right through (like Pompeii which makes a good door stop as a book) or authors I don’t yet know. I’ve also been listening to Alan Cummings second autobiography and it’s amusing, I read the first book and it was quite harrowing.

My hand is till badly bruised so off into town to buy bread, which just doesn’t taste the same at all but needs must for a few more days.

@Josy1953 the news re Florida is dreadful, I hope they have all evacuated and stay safe. I presume any cruise ships in the area will have got out of there fast.

Those photos are envy-making!    Has been rainy here, but not too bad.  Slight concern for me as the Florida hurricane is reaching as far as Nashville, where my grandson and family live.  They don't usually get anything there, slightly too far to the west luckily.  I will no doubt hear if there are problems, and will check their weather on the useful BBC weather info.

My news is as exciting as Avril's; taking rubbish out to the bins by my gate, and that is all, except I was relieved to find out (after far too long) that my echocardiogram did not show any real problems.

Have a good day everyone.

We are also watching the Florida hurricane because DH's brother lives in Fayetteville which is about 80 miles south of Nashville, His youngest daughter teaches in Nashville.  His other daughters are in Fayetteville and Seattle.  We are praying that they are all safe they are all safe, The Seattle family are obviously too far north to be affected by the current hurricane.

A windy and damp morning after yesterday evenings deluge with a number of incidents of flash flooding in the area, the clear up is ongoing this morning. Fortunately not affect as we are high up and we appeared to be on the very edge of the thunderstorm as we had little rain at the time that everyone else was getting soaked, it certainly lived up to the amber warning issued by Met Office.

Today and tomorrow are meant to be dry, rain late Sunday, which given I am volunteering at an outdoor event won’t be welcome if it arrives early.

I've just seen the terrible pictures of Hurricane Helene on the news.

I hope our CC community's families and friends in the affected areas of Florida are all safe and well.

That's the car serviced and through it's MOT for another year and yet again

needed nothing doing, all was well.  It has only done 2357 miles this year

since last MOT and may just top the 60k sometime next year.

I'm forever reminding some of my mates who are ready for retirement to

remember to let insurance know change to "retired" and lower their insured

10,000 miles pa unless they intend driving to Italy and back as Brian used

to do .

Hope you all have a good day, take care .🙂
