I agree. Many of us have gone through some tough times over these months.

Late last week my cousin, in Alberta, had a growth in his brain removed.  It tripled in size since it was discovered in late December. The surgery went well and they got most of it. That being said even with continued therapy he has been given 2 years.

He isn’t barely 40 with two kids and a wife. He came out of the surgery still able to speak and has mobility.  Having lost my dad to melanoma cancer, specifically an inoperable brain tumour, I fully understand what lies ahead of them.

It is gut wrenching, and we all know that feeling.

So sorry to hear about your Cousin.  Hopefully the doctors have under estimated and he will have many years ahead for him.

It’s been snowing here the last couple of days as well. The wind is gusty tonight but I have held off in blowing snow until tomorrow. The wind will just make a mess of everything tonight.

I have spent the last couple weeks cleaning out the garage at my moms and the office in her garage. Things are much tidier and organized. A few items are lined up to go to the scrap yard and auction sometime later this year. I just have to sort through the vault and sort out what can be shredded but that’s a job for March when the weather is better.

Much better now that it is done. Feels great.

Looks delicious!!    You just gave me an idea for dinner this week.  I always forget about stirfrys.  Thank you.

We haven’t had it in a while, but I have to say it was delicious.

You should have come over to hang out with Charlie,  his was 220/110 last week when he went to the hospital 🥴

Today my doctor gave me a prescription for Norvasc. The side effects are headaches, dizziness and other wonderful things.I have had 36 falls.I will not likely survive another fall.My doctor said that the normal BP for people 70 and older is 150/90.

What did your husband do for his elevated BP ?

We both got our first vaccine shot this afternoon, so far so good.  From when we left the house until we were finished was just under two hours.  Found out the site we went to ran out for tomorrow and Friday!  However, getting the second dose is going to be a headache.  Earliest appointment we could get was for Feb. 27th, too far out but took it for now.

Glad to hear all is well after getting your first jab.

Eric was notified to schedule his appt. And I reached out to the site immediately and called several times this morning as well as email.  This afternoon he was advised they are all booked up for the amount of doses they have in stock.   Referred to a couple other places and they are all saying the same thing.

Our county, Bucks, needs more!  They all said try back next week as they have no idea when more is arriving.

Ugh!

Hopefully soon!!!

36 falls.  Hopefully you arent breaking bones with these falls.

I find it usually takes time for new BP meds to regulate and get used to.  At least for Mom that is the case.

My Eric is the opposite, he is orthostatic and his pressures drop too low.  Just yesterday he was running around 86/52.

I have broken more bones than I knew that I had.My falls are due primarily to the Parkinson’s.Medications to treat the disease lower the BP causing me to get dizzy and fall.

Falling is very bad, you need to really try to not do that.  That means take your time and be extra thoughtful and conscious before you try to do things.

Easier said than done with Parkinson's.  Between the stiffness from the disease and the low blood pressure from the meds, falls are very common.  We got many calls in the middle of the night to go help pick my Dad up off the floor.

Sending prayers your way, Lenny.

LOL, yup.

The office portion is the end single car bay, which was turned into an office. It has a roll up shutter as well, similar to a hurricane shelter. The garage has room for 6 cars etc... in the other bays. I blasted through the car areas quickly, in just a day while it was just above freezing. The office took longer, but it really hasn’t much attention since dad passed in 2003. It needed it.

Thanks. Unfortunately my wife cannot pick me up from the floor. It is usually a call to family members or 911.

I once fell on a city street.I was lying and bleeding and begging passers by to help me but nobody did except for a homeless man who normally sits on a bench in the area. Now I do not have that problem because I have not been able to walk on my own in 5 years.

I know that feeling. In 2017 my 42 year old nephew died from a brain tumor.

He left a wife and 3 children.

My Mom couldn't get my Dad off the floor either.  My husband and I would go over and do it.  Luckily, he never fell on a street.  That is terrible people wouldn't help you.

Luckily I have a daughter and son in law living 5 minutes away from me.He has been working from home since the pandemic began and helps me a lot when my wife has to go out.

Yeah all the falls are such great fun. Mine are due to a spine that the last specialist I saw called a complicated mess. It’s not a fall that they think will kill me, but a sneeze of all things I have instability in the cervical spine, a sneeze cuts off the blood supply to my brain, they say one day it will probably rupture it and I will be dead before I hit the ground, actually other than what happens between now and then it doesn’t sound like a bad way to go.

Not much fun is it, my most embarrassing was off the toilet in the shopping centre, the disabled toilet doubles as a baby change room and the door must automatically unlock after a period of time, this poor lady and her three kids walk in to find me naked from the waist down, crying my eyes out, barely able to speak (yep I had sneezed) she and security, rng an ambulance and refused to leave, even though I am pretty sure her youngest soiled their diaper, until the ambulance was there, and even then remained in the vicinity till Mrs Gut arrived, unfortunately I was in no fit state to get her details to properly thank her.

I doubt even my son in law could get me off the floor, all the years I spent building my self up to play football when I was already a big boy. Normally either call the ambulance, and they then call in the rescue people, or wait till I can manage to drg myself into bed.

I consider self fortunate to be still having falls, it means I still have some mobility.

Probably to only negative is the comments I get from some about seeing me out of my wheelchair “the other day”. Indeed I ave at times been accused of only using the wheelchair to get preferred boarding etc. each day I use the aids I think I need to use based on how I feel that day and what I know I have ahead of my in the coming days. That can range from one walking stick, two, a walking frame or a power wheelchair. No matter how good a day I use my chair to board, how else do I get it on the ship?
