Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Not much in enterntainment that interest us tonight so we went to casino around 10 pm.   Another good night.  I turned $60 into $753.   I am ahead somewhere around $1000 so far.   Eric is not speaking about his #s so he must be behind.  Plenty of time to catch up.

So today is the big day!  Leaving tonight for a 12night trip to France and Spain.  Not a cruise but a land trip with SIL and BIL.  Staying in Paris 2 nights, then outside of Narbonne, France with a final 4 nights in Barcelona.  Packed carry-on only and very proud of myself, as this is not an easy task for me 😆.  Thank goodness we leave tonight instead of last night.  We had crazy storms roll through Michigan with over 200k customers in the Detroit area without power.  Ours never went out but we have a whole house generator so no worry for us.  Anyway, I will try and stay as caught up as one possibly can!

Have a great trip.

No, I was hired to take care of the cast and crew.

Good grief! I can’t even read. 😆 I read “hired to be A physician” and not “hired to be THE physician”. I guess with all the talk of people being extras, or knowing someone that has a friend of a friend of a friend that was hired to be an extra😁, I was reading that you were hired to PLAY a physician. Sorry about that. I was thinking maybe while you were in college or something.

Ryan spent 2 nights in the Pediatric ICU.  His blood sugar count was extremely high, but by the 3rd day they were able to release him after getting his numbers down, after meetings with the Endocrinologist, and after Ryan and my daughter could show them that they could handle doing the finger pricks and the insulin shots.  This sure is a life-changing experience.  Lots of phone calls and doctor visits.

Thank you for asking, Dani.  Right now it's pretty stressful, and will be...until it's not.  Thank you again.🥰

Glad to hear Ryan is at home and learning what needs to be done.

Coming out of lurking mode temporarily to give a brief review of our recent cruise on Adventure.   We were on the 9 day sailing departing 8/18.  Ports of call were Bermuda, San Juan, St. Martin and Labadee.   Overall, it was a great cruise.   We won a reasonably priced Royal Up bid from Jr. Suite to Owners Suite.  The suite lounge concierge was amazing.  She held a sail away party from San Juan on the helipad.   We loved the extra space in the OS.

We had late seating; the wait staff was just overwhelmed.   Our assistant waiter was responsible for at least 2 waiters stations.  The staff was working so hard, but it was complicated by people coming in at least 45 minutes after service started.   They also had to deal with people from MyTime dining coming up to empty tables up to an hour after service started.  I felt so bad for them trying to keep up.

Food in the dining room was good.  Windjammer was a mixed bag, but perhaps just not to my personal taste.  A shortage of waiters to clear tables here was also evident.   In both venues, the baked rolls/breads were absolutely addictive.

Bar service was quite good; we didn't experience any shortages of preferred wines or bourbons.

Ports of call were good, although due to the itinerary, times in ports were quite short.  We did shore excursions in Bermuda and SanJuan.  We stayed on board in St Martin; it was quite rainy there.

The ship was in great shape.  Lots of maintenance being done--all of the railings on deck 12 and 10 were being re-varnished.

And finally, since everyone is posting cute pet photos, here is our recent addition (we do basset hound rescue; she was a foster that we adopted last year.).  We also have a camera shy senior golden that was also a rescue.

Glad you came out of lurking mode and had a good cruise. I definitely agree there is a crew shortage. Cute pups.

Day 3 doing clean out at our other house in the mountains, and we spent the afternoon with Roto-Rooter:classic_rolleyes: All 3 toilets were overflowing, and water was coming up in a shower drain. I do have to commend them for their services! I started calling plumbers at 2 o'clock, unsuccessfully. And Roto-Rooter was able to come at 3PM and was able to complete a main drain cleanout by 5. And the hauling guy is supposed to be here tomorrow at 9 AM. We are exhausted, and this is only the first load, but last for this trip.

Congratulations on the new kitten Sue. Lizzie is really cute! Kittens are equally fun and annoying. 😊

Mike left over 3 hours ago and I got a text about 30 minutes ago. Incoming flight had a bird strike. Only injury was the bird, but I guess there’s problem with the plane also. At first he thought they were going to be able to leave, but now he’s on his way home. This will probably mess things up for later in the week. Will have to find out what kind of damage there was. He just said there was a lot of blood. Poor bird. 😢

Wow, good job.  I never know which slot machine to play.  If there is a particular type that you have good luck with, post a pick and I will see if I can find the same type on Allure!

We finally got checked in for our October cruise but it was the most difficult check in.   Sharon started on her iPhone at 11:01 pm.  It let her sign in but when she tried to get all 5 of us in it kicked her out 3 times.  Then it started locking up.  Then we tried just us.  No luck.  Then we switched to my iPad and put just us in and everything started working.   Luckily all 5 of us are linked because when we got the next two in it showed that the whole party had the same assigned check-in time! BTW, we got 10:30 to 11:00.

Oh that looks good. I love sandwiches.

One of my summer favs is tomatoes & cukes on toast, slathered with mayo.

Where did the bird hit?  What is going on with the plane? You should know you have my attention now. I want details!☺️

Good thing it was just the bird.   I guess that happens more than us passengers know about.

Until Renee will reply, here's the "result" of a close encounter between a bird and my son's (FA) plane...

The plane was damaged (it seems that the radar is there), and the crew "gained" an unexpected night in Paris...

charlie is much improved, so hoping he stays better.

Excellent.   Hopefully a quiet relaxing spot with feet on sand and in water will make him even better today.🥰

I will take a pic for you.   These machines in exact same location on Allure in 2020 were very good to us then too!

That would scare the crap out of me but I'm not a pilot. It's like driving along and seeing something come straight at you and hits the windshield. Probably in his case because they are going so fast no time to react.

Kind of like deer that think they can make it across a highway when a car is barreling down at 70mph toward them. Bird should not fly into the path of a B787 moving at 250kts.

Deer, and birds, have something to learn about playing Monopoly.

Here you are.  I have to cut thru casino to get to DL for my coffees.    They are to the right of the bar, when facing the bar.  Sorry I have trouble putting a space between photos from my phone.    I was playing the blue one.20220831_081517.thumb.jpg.b2003620cc497d5c607539c31c3813c0.jpg20220831_081440.thumb.jpg.1a4cb962c1093ee6921cb26b5aaa5387.jpg

I'll stay up to 12:01 tonight to check in for our Liberty/Galveston sailing. Last time for our Symphony I used a combination of the app on my phone and my computer. Picked the time on the phone but when it asked to upload passport info and vaccine cards I had all that info on my computer so I just jumped over to that. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly tonight. I'm not looking forward to try and stay awake tonight.
