Something different all right, today I was diagnosed with severe renal failure after blood tests and ultrasounds the past few days. My kidney function has taken a big nose dive. Do not know where I go from here, specialist? Dialaysis?

Suffice to say I am not well and could be a shot duck.

Not dwelling on it, bye for now.

Oh Uncle Les that's lousy news. Take care and we are happy to help out if you have treatment in Canberra.  Just shout out. Xx

Well the house sale fell through, oh well I guess we're not moving. It rained today for the first time in more than 3 months. I don't know how much but it's been a steady rain for a couple hours. This was the longest dry spell in recorded history for Victoria which goes back to the 1890s.

Bad luck this time, Lyle.  A better, successful transaction may be looming.  Australian communities are enduring serious and tragic, in some cases, flooding.

I'm sorry for any confusion, I'm the friendly Canadian from Victoria BC Canada. I've been adopted by many on here. Hopefully my wife and I will get to meet people in person some day. We were forced to cancel not one but two trips down under due to the world wide situation of the global plague.

Cheers, Lyle

Sorry to hear your news about your house. Will you put your house back on the market Lyle? Our daughter and son in law sold their house in June and had a 120 day settlement. Son in law was not convinced that settlement would go through as the buyers changed their conveyancer a week or two before the due date but fortunately it all went through without a problem. They were quite on edge as they didn't want to have to go through the selling process all over again particularly as property prices have has gone down.

Are you up to another Cat lunch, or even just a Crumb coffee soon?

Thanks, but not at the moment, might be moving down to Moruya at my daughter’s she is 200 metres from the hospital where I can get get some treatment, like dialysis if required and where the visiting specialists work from.
I get giddy and tired.

Getting hammered by the storms at the moment, rain, thunder.

Sounds like the sooner they get on to it the better, Keep pushing if you aren't happy with the treatment.

Understand perfectly.  Moruya sounds just the ticket for you right now, particularly with specialist treatment on tap, and more especially, you’ll be with family.  Thinking of you and wishing you positive results from any treatment.

Uncle Les, my adored Uncle John lived for many years with only 16% renal function (he passed away in his 80's without ever having dialysis).

I wish you all the best and hope this is a manageable diagnosis for you.

We have a listing that is active until December, so the house is still for sale. We will let that contract lapse and re-list at a later date. There has been a large shake up at city hall and the rubber stamp development council is gone so all their buddies are running for the hills. I don't think the New council will be as bad as those developers think. Our land is a good prospect for a small development.

We are not in a hurry to sell, it has to be a good deal for us. We have worked for the equity we have in our home and don't intend to give a bunch of it to somebody else.

Sad news Lyle, but to be blunt it is an occupational hazard, too many criminals and lunatics out there. It is a jungle out there.👮‍♀️👮

Thank you for reminding us Kyle of the good people out there protecting us and trying to help. It is too easy to ignore the losses.

We're looking at switching our New England/ East Coast Canada cruise from HAL to Oceana. The Oceana itinerary is slightly different and in many ways more appealing. We haven't asked our TA about it yet but we did get a brochure from them with a what looks like a favourable price point at first glance. It may seem strange to ask about a cruise in my country to my friends in OZ but I know some of you have recently sailed with Oceana and wonder if it is worth the premium price We did a cruise in Viking Orion in the spring and that definitely was not good value for money spent (not for us anyway) The HAL cruise would start on my birthday in August while the Oceana cruise would include Lynn's birthday in October and would more likely give us the famous "fall colours" Eastern Canada is famous for. Unfortunately that later date could also give us the Eastern Canada crappy fall weather that seems to be world famous.

Oceana is top shelf Lyle, stick with HAL.

Lyle, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Oceania.  We embarked  on our fifth Oceania cruise six weeks ago.  The fact that I was diagnosed with Covid two days before the end of the cruise didn’t detract from our pure joy at sailing with them again.  My problem with Viking was that Oceania had set the benchmark, particularly with cuisine.  The ambience is reminiscent of a relaxed country club, and the crew professional and marvellous.  Yes, it’s more costly than Holland America, but not as expensive as Seabourn or Silversea.  A good mid-range option.  Of course, Murphy’s law seems to be following us lately, so I hope my recommendation doesn’t result in an unpleasant cruise experience for you and Lynn.
