No sign cdc will lift it sooner. Alaska will be done by then. Sorry dont understand what this announcement has to do with alaska.

Again, apologies. I should have quoted post #13 instead of your post which referenced this.

Please attribute the right quotes to the right posters.

I did not make this comment.

"we need the CSO to be lifted right if people don't want to vaccinated or can't be vaccinated. right? "

See post #13 in this thread for the poster who made this comment.

The reply was still a response to your post and It doesn't change the fact it was just a motion.

Hopefully the other ship will allow mixed (vax'd and unvax'd).  For the kids.  I would sail on either kind of ship but I do not want to wear a mask.  In DC, some businesses are now enforcing masks for unvaccinated peeps.  FINALLY.

I am willing to do what ever it takes to get the ships sailing again, and if that calls for people to be vaccinated for now, then so be it. It may not stay that way forever, but it is my opinion that this would be the best way forward for now. Sorry for all of the folks who may not be able to sail right now.

Just wish they would update their Health Protocols page as well as posting a news release on their Corporate website.  Not everyone reads the news releases on the Carnival Corp site.

It is unfortunate that Carnival is no longer a 'family' cruise line.

It really does look like they are doing everything possible to make things work for families. Hopefully, in a few months everyone will be able to sail again.

Didnt know there was an age limit to the definition of  "family".  🙄

Trying to be optimistic, but it seems that doing everything to include families would be going the test sailing route like RCCL. That way they wouldn't exclude children. If this sticks, I bet they lose at least some loyal customers. I know they make money on drunk party animals, but they also make a ton from families.

I think that, first, they must make sure they are a viable (income producing) cruise line. If that initially leaves 'family' out to some degree of the first month+ of sailings, that's a small price to pay for progress. We'd all like to see shackles off, but we're making progress - and it's accelerating.

Well considering that only teenagers are eligible for a vax, that excludes most families with children that are not already adults.

I like this decision and hope it sticks. Having to wear a mask on a cruise is garbage. No one should be forced to wear a mask because some people refuse to be vaccinated. If they do have mixed cruises, those that are vaccinated can have a special wristband to indicate they don't need a mask. Those not vaccinated must be separated 6' and it is their responsibility to move to where they can.

Semantics, but most people would take this to the level of children obviously. People should be a little more precise for the forum police.

If that's the case, I'll get a nice comfortable spot near a high traffic area (along the edge of casino or near the shops) and just have my camera ready !

And the wristbands should have a little laser that jolts any non-wristband-wearers closer than six feet, just to help the crew keep 'em in check.  🙃

IMHO, that was the best decision Carnival could make under the circumstances. Kudos to Carnival.

An even better decision would be to keep this policy in place until the CSO expires.

I might have to put on a mask just so people will stay 6 feet away while I am lounging on the pool deck.😅

Maybe by August they will find a way to exclude vaccination requirements for children who are not eligible.  They can easily enforce mask mandates with children.

Children are the hardest group to enforce mask mandates on.

CCL might have vaccinated cruises till the end of 21'.  just saying.

I don't think so.  I think they'll start with vax'd only (recall our discussion a week ago on this subject where antivaxers were "celebrating prematurely", thinking Carnival had decided to start mixed?) - oh, looks like they already ARE starting vaxxed only with Alaska and Galveston.  Then they'll mix it up and gradually move toward all mixed cruises.  That'll provide an opportunity to cruise for everyone, allow kids to sail, allow vaccinated to sail without masks, and let Carnival collect data on which ships had COVID issues and which didn't (hopefully zero).  I'll only sail on all vaxed IF the mixed cruises require masks at all.

I don't know about that.  My four year old grandson wore a mask every day to school until they finally did away with the mandate.  If anyone can't handle having their child wear a mask, then they should probably just stay home.

I think it's ridiculous that children have to wear masks, but certainly parents can have their children follow simple rules.

....we have to wait till end of the week for August protocols I'm trying to figure out if I can get full refund.

If the August protocols do not allow your granddaughter to go, you will be able to get a full refund since you have not reached final payment yet.  This was stated in the August sailings form letter that you should have received via email and which was copied on the boards on one of the threads.
