ms Nieuw Amsterdam in Port Everglades October 23, 2021

Saturday is the day that we have spent the last year and a half waiting for - a HAL sail-away from Port Everglades that has passengers on board!

 

Nieuw Amsterdam will be at Pier 19 (Starboard to) from 4:45 am to 5 pm.  She is heading out on a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise.

(I can't figure a way to make this smaller.)

 

Also in port are Celebrity Edge at pier 25 from 6 am to 6 pm, Odyssey of the Seas at Pier 18 from 5:15 am to 6 pm, and Caribbean Princess who will be at pier 2 until Tuesday.

Next up:  Our first glimpse of Rotterdam in FLL on November 3.  Nieuw Statendam will be pier 19 October 29-30 but no passengers.  She is scheduled to leave at 9 pm on the 30th.

Thankfully, the ugly Edge is in her usual spot - but a HAL ship isn't being blocked. 😄

 

I plan to be here for the first real sailaway, I can't wave at empty ships.

It's time for a sailaway celebration once again on October 23rd!  I hope the Captain has not forgotten where the "tooting button" is located as the ship sails through the channel.  

 

Maybe there will be some tugboats to offer a water salute to her sailing?

Well, Nieuw Amsterdam has arrived into PE, but I missed the sail in.

She arrive just before 5 am local time.

We'll be waving back from our deck 5 balcony!  Somehow we got a late check-in time of 2pm, so afraid the turnaround may be a bit chaotic today.

We disembarked at Pier 19.

Nieuw Amsterdam is at PEV Berth 26 according to marine traffic.com. She arrived at 5:18 am EDT.

We were very close to each other then, Father as we were on Eurodam in Adriatic including Split in Croatia, which is less than 100 miles from Medjugorje.
