Back to back procedures advice

Hello we are shortly going on a cruise on Enchanted Princess for a couple of weeks followed immediately by a further week.

When completing the check-in we see that we have different stateroom numbers for the 2 cruises.

Is that normal?,

What is the procedure at the end of the first cruise, do we get off?

Can we leave luggage onboard?

This is a first for us never been with Princess and never done back to back.

I would ask Princess direct but cannot get through to them on the phone.....actually still on hold whilst typing this message.

Thank you.

We have not done a B2B since prior to the pandemic, but I understand the procedures are still pretty similar.  You will get a notice in your cabin before the end of the first cruise that will outline the procedure.  When we did it, all the B2B passengers met at a certain location, we were led off the ship, went through customs and then went right back on the ship before any of the new passengers. We had the same cabin for both legs although it is not abnormal to have different cabins, it just depends on how it was booked.  From what I understand, you will pack up your things and your room steward should be able to assist you in getting things moved to the new cabin.  There is definitely no need to take your belongings off the ship during the turn around.

You will receive a letter in your cabin with instructions if changing cabins pack up and I believe your cabin steward will help you move on morning of turn around then you will be told to report to a certain meeting place with all b2b passengers escorted off ship go through customs wait for ship to be cleared then back on ship.

The only differencenI I will add is if you WANT to get off the ship then you can.  In your instructions you will receive a card that says "in transit".  This allows you to get back on the ship without going through the check in process.  You can only get back on once the new passengers have started to do so.  If your cruise is turning around in the US you still have to go through customs though although you do it in the terminal and don't meet with the other b2b people as previously mentioned.  The posts above are only if you are staying onboard the ship.

As for different cabins, it is because of the way your cruises were booked.  Apparently you were not booked to be in the same cabin.  You keep alll your clothes that you hung up and they are moved that way.  The clothes and things in drawers or shelves you will pack up in your suitcases.  I have heard of stewards helping move but my experience was we did it ourselves.  Once the steward had his supervisor help us.

I take it you booked GTY cabins, hence you’ve only just found out you have different cabin numbers, or did your TA not specify if you wanted the same cabin for both cruises? Have you been over to the roll calls for your sailings? You’ll find that there are quite a few B2B guests on for the next few weeks as many on our roll call (26th Aug) are staying onboard for the TA at the beginning of September.

The room stewards are super busy on turn around days, and may not have time to help with your move.  But if you need help moving your belongings you can always speak with Guest Services ahead of time to make arrangements.

Where is the turn around day? If it is in the U.S. then there are immigration procedures which have to be followed.

Moving cabins.

-Speak with your cabin steward an the new cabin steward.

-There will be information provided to you. read it carefully.

-Hang as much as you can on hangers in the closet. These items will be moved hanging and will be hung in your new cabin.

-Place other items in your luggage and leave in the cabin. The luggage will be moved to your new cabin.

-Remove items from your cabin safe. Ask your new steward if you can place them in the safe. Occupants should be out of their cabin by 8am

-Your on board accounts will roll over and there will be one invoice on disembarkation day.

-For the future when booking b2bs it is a good practice to select a cabin for all legs of the cruise and then have your booking marked "no upgrade."

Did you book these cruises at different times?  And as gty, I presume.  It could be that they did not have any cabins left in your category that could be assigned for both cruises.  I once booked a last minute B2B Alaska cruise as an inside gty, solo. They assigned me a huge HC cabin.  I asked my TA about it, and she said they knew I didn’t need HC but it was the only one available for both weeks.  I felt guilty rattling around in all that space.  EM

The only thing I would add…ask your TA or Princess if you can get the same cabin for both cruises?  Makes it a little easier.

Just in case it may be open.  You could look on the website and see what is available.

Where is your b2b port?

The B2B instructions left in your room near the end of the first cruise specifically state your steward can/will help with the move.

While I will have a similar situation in Jan 2023 - and intentionally have two different cabins, I think there's a 'wrinkle' that no one has covered.  As far as I know b2b still requires a covid test - which as far as my TA and Princess docs specify, means a day or so before Princess will administer the test.  If positive, I assume we would be removed from the ship (with all of our luggage) and not be allowed to return on the next leg of our journey.  Since I'm booked on the world cruise as the 2nd leg, sure hoping that's not still going to be the procedure come January.....

@PacnGoNow

B2B port will be Southampton UK

Then, you will probably be given a transit card if you want to get off and return without waiting in line with a the new guests boarding.  There was a big discussion about b2b’s previously, you may want to read.

There are reports that cruisers who test positive during one leg are isolated until they clear the virus and are given the option of leaving the ship or staying on. We have a close friend on the Island Princess now who just went through that situation. Caught Covid, tested positive, moved from an interior cabin to a ocean view (not a balcony darn it) for five days of isolation. Tested negative afterwards and is still on the ship. Was given the option to leave or stay, obviously he chose to stay.

Guess you have never done a change of cabins on a b2 b . They will help you.

It depends on the rules/regulation of the turnaround port/country. We did not have to get tested for Rome turnaround on Regal Barcelona-Rome/Rome-Athens B2B last month. I know Greece had stricter rules than Spain and Italy so possibly people staying on in Athens had to get tested.

Yes, LA you will have the government formalities as mentioned above.  You also will need a covid test, which PCL does complimentary because you are going on an oceanic cruise for your b2b.  So, your TA is correct.  Who knows what the rules will be in 2023?

Just hoping something will change by then.  But even with the test, the comment that we could remain on the ship is hopeful.

I know.  That keeps me from booking cruises before my long cruise.  We did

a bunch of b2b’s a few months ago and I was so nervous we would get covid and it would ruin the rest of my vacation.

We were very lucky. So, I understand.

Is L.A. the first U.S. port after visiting another country, example Mexico? If so, then you will have to leave the ship to go through an immigration passport inspection, then re-board. Sometimes immigration comes on board and you actually don't leave the ship. It is done as a group. You will not be able to just hang on the ship. You will receive instructions in your cabin. This immigration procedure has nothing to do with covid testing nor does it effect changing of cabins.

I had B2B (May 28-June 4 and June 4-11) out of Southampton.  I had to have Covid test to get on the ship May 28.  I asked Guest Services 2x, if I had to have a Covid test for the second cruise June 4, “No, you would need to have a test if the country you are going to needs a test to enter”.”Princess required you to have a Covid test to get on the ship for the first cruise and you are still on the ship”.

Southampton was treated a a regular port day.  I received a “In Transit “ card to show if I had got off the ship.

During the week, I received a letter explaining about turnaround day.  I had the same cabin, so nothing to do.  I stayed on the ship.

See if you can change your cabin to have the same cabin for both cruises.

I have never had to change cabins on a B2B.   Get off the ship, yes (a moot point, since it was another port-of-call to us).   Change cabins, no.

There have been times when we decided to add on a 2nd crisis e to one already booked and our suite was not available on the 2nd so we did have to move
