Anthem engine issues this week

That would put them on the dock at 3:00 am, which isn’t likely.

On Sunday, GMT will only be 4 hours ahead of EST (due to DST change) and the ship may have put in the time they will be at the outer point of the harbor. She's up to 19 knots so whatever the issue is/was doesn't seem to affect increased speed operation.

Did you ask for chips at the salad bar area of 270?   Usually have to ask, haven't seem them sitting out on any of 2022 cruises on Anthem.

We were on last week.  I asked for chips at 270 Cafe and they told me they didn’t have them anymore.😠

Got this in my email just now

I feel bad for those who had plans for Port Canaveral but I hope the same itinerary and credit happens for the March 19 cruise that we are on.  We were not planning to get off in Port Canaveral anyway and would enjoy the credit

On another thread (March 12 roll call), someone posted that the captain on the current sailing said that the plan was still to dock at 6am Sunday in Bayonne.

I got the email too for our Mar 12 sailing. Skipping Canaveral all together, but leaving on time Sunday, and getting early into Nassau (9am) on Wednesday.

There is a SpaceX launch planned for Tuesday evening - we were supposed to just be leaving Port Canaveral, so I hope we're still in a proximity to see the launch in the sky - it is visible for quite the distance.

Got the same email for our sailing this Sunday.  One day of a free casino cruise equal to $0 OBC for us and we were planning to get off in Port Canaveral, so this is very disappointing.

Well, the casino should be open more🤣🤣🤣

Sorry to hear that. I would be happy to give up my desires (skipping Port Canaveral and getting OBC) so that those who wanted to go there, could.

On the 19th as well, and was planning to stay in the ship anyway and take care of some needed “work” that day. So I hope the internet is working better since StarLink took over.

It's not.  It's "spotty".  Some locations are fine; some are not.  I was told that while Starlink is installed, Anthem still has the old hardware.  And the old access points are just not up to the task.

We are scheduled to be on the March 26 cruise.  We had a cruise canceled with short notice in the spring of 2019.  That was also due to engine problems which required a dry dock before the ship made its transAtlantic to Europe for the summer.  I hope it doesn't happen to us again, as this is another try at a 3 generational family cruise, and the kids keep getting older.  I wonder if they are adding more hours of IFly and bumper cars and other things.

Fingers crossed for you. 🤞

I'm watching this one closely as we're booked on the last cruise before the TA.

I don't really care about potentially losing a port but since we're coming from Europe, it would be a huge issue if the whole cruise were to be cancelled like happened to you. 😬

This was a propulsion problem with one of the ship's azipods.  The current issue is with one of the ship's diesel engines, which is limiting power generation capacity, so there is less power to the azipods, so the ship goes slower.  It would not require a drydock to repair, nor would it likely cause a complete cancellation of a cruise.

This is a significant problem with the ships that have gone with only 4 diesel generators.  If one of the larger diesels is taken out of service, for repair or maintenance, if the itinerary is not carefully determined, with regards to speed, then the itinerary can become impacted.  The ships with 5 or 6 engines have more flexibility, and less impact from an engine being out of service.

Sounds like you understand ship construction and maintenance issues, which I do not.  Thank you for the information and I hope we all will be able to take our cruises as scheduled.  It is my understanding that people on the cruises scheduled for today and the 19th have received an email with the new itinerary.  We are scheduled for the 26th and have not yet received any email.

I am on the 19th cruise but I have not received an email yet.  We’ll see.  Hoping for the letter as it works out better for us
