Vaping in Casino on Equinox

Has anyone seen posts about vape concerns on other Social Media,  or discussion at prof  travel agent groups?

Such a step back for X which spearheaded healthy cuisine, attention to special diets, etc,  environmental sensitivity etc. Starting to feel all that was  just PR hype  and not genuine!

It was seeing posts on the Book of Faces that sent me here to see if anyone was on either the Eclipse or Equinox to confirm it was happening.  Lots of concerned posts there as well.

I saw a couple of posts on the Celebrity page on social media. One poster mentioned the vaping test a couple of times. No response from Celebrity.

This is not “soliciting”.  It is a discussion amongst passengers who might or might not be bothered by the vaping.  So it is feedback to officers on the ship as you also suggest.

I was just advising caution when approaching too many other passengers. Friendly discussions is one thing but too direct an approach whilst on a ship suggesting  that others should contact X is another - it's X that decides what is or is not "solicting'.

My other suggestions where that individual passengers should take every opportunity to use the public channels provided by X to raise the issue (for or against).

Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are often how customers get a company's attention. Celebrity seems to use each, somewhat inconsistently, as does Captain Kate (who seems to always be posting as a paid spokesperson to promote the company).  The YouTube influencers (many of whom are TAs or receive freebies from TAs or agencies) are also a method to draw attention to the concerns here through education and providing perspective.  The influencers are catering to the cruise lines, and monetized clicks and likes, but often will have comments and chats that encourage discussion and sharing of information.

Shipboard, there are daily meetings of senior staff.  So, repetition far and wide can help get concerns on their radar.   Good times to bring it up would seem to be when using the QR code survey in the daily, when someone asks how is the cruise going, the stripes are out on deck or in the halls, in the elevator, clapping to the martini bar show, etc.

I’ll be the guy outside the casino in a trench coat and fedora, whispering “you wanna see what I got?”  Solicitation?  Celebrity ain’t seen solicitation!

Which way is the wind blowing the smoke/vape today.

I thought no smoking/vaiping inside was a good compromise and with it being allowed outside in designated area.

I would not have a problem with smoking inside if it stayed with the person smoking.

There are several different groups on FB with postings regarding this.  The biggest one is the CC group, 360 reactions and 480 comments, most opposed to the vaping, and a lot emailing X.  There were also 2 polls when word first got out with 97% opposed.

The question no one seems to know is, what is the air circulation system like in the casino?  Does it filter anything or does the air get recirculated in the ship?  I ask that whether it is vaping or smoking.

Depending on how / where you walk, you may have to cut through the casino, where vaping will be happening.

As Zenith, your opinion matters a lot - at least, I would hope so!!  Have you been in touch with any other Zeniths about forming a united front? Theoretically, as the most loyal of passengers, your united voice should be impactful.

We have a Zenith FB page where virtually everyone posting is also up in arms about this whole thing.  Many say they are contacting head office.  But honestly, I'm not so sure our status means a lot overall.  The vast majority of us don't fit the demographic being catered to.

But at the very least unless you go up or down a floor you need to walk right past them.  And on M class you definitely need to go up or down a floor.

My point. You will have to make a detour. It's a bummer and shouldn't have to but it is what it is. So we do have options. Hopefully Celebrity will not go forward with this after the so call 8 week trial period.

It isn't good enough, no matter what.  It is supposed to filter some, all the indoor air is supposed to filter.  They were supposed to have upgraded the filtration as they returned the ships to service after Covid.

Either way, it won't be good enough if you are sitting there enjoying playing and some jerk comes up and starts vaping with one of those that creates a cloud of garbage around him the way some do.

I sent my first e-mail of complaint on July 4th about 3:45 PM Alaska Standard time.  I certainly didn't expect to receive an acknowledgment on a holiday but as of 1 PM AST I still didn't have a reply,  So at 1:07 PM I sent another complaint to the Executive Office indicating that I hadn't received any response.  Also sent one to the new CEO.  At 1:33 PM I had an acknowledgment of the complaint.

We are Zenith members of the loyalty program and all of our future reservations with Celebrity are booked in Suites.  Wonder why some folks are having very quick form letter responses while some of us, at least initially, did not.

I emailed both executiveoffice@celebrity.com and lhodges@rccl.com on Monday and just received a phone call from Aurora on behalf of Laura Hodges. Aurora said that both Laura and her had read my email informing them of my husband's previous history of having a significant allergic reaction to second hand vape emissions exposure in an outdoor setting and our shock and dismay that Celebrity is conducting these trials. Aurora stated several times that Celebrity and the Royal Caribbean executive group are listening to all feedback from all sources, in person on ships, emails, and social media. As we spoke Aurora was typing my comments which she said she would share back to Laura and the executive team that make the decisions. So, please voice your concerns to the email addresses above and if you are a shareholder to ShareholderBenefit@rccl.com. Your opinion matters, to your health and mine, speak up to the decision makers.

Dianne

I have no idea how they are prioritizing their responses, we are Elite and while we have sailed in Concierge and Verandas, all of our recent cruises have been oceanview or inside cabins. We all pay for what we get. Second hand vape emissions, no extra charge, lol

I just had a thought. What if everybody that is able to stand it could get hold of a vape device and continuously blow those huge clouds of vape smoke in the casino. That might just put a stop to this stupid test in a hurry.

I emailed the executive offices on 7/4, on this issue and the Beyond deployment. Received a call today but missed it. They left a call back number and I will call them Monday.

Doesn't matter how good the filtration is, smoking is still noticeable. Pittsburgh enacted a smoking ban in all indoor workplaces.  My boss was high up on the food chain and smoked continually. She bought a filtration system for her office but the smoke and smell linger.  I finally refused to meet with her in her office. She either had to come to mine or we would go to the conference room.

It is interesting that we are even talking about this as I thought Celebrity was all about health of passegers, the environment, conservation.  Does not even make sense to even go down this path.

It used to be Healthy@Sea, now it's ToHellWithThee@Sea

And then there was one. It seems that this is the only vaping/smoking/Celebrity embarrassment thread left standing. All others are closed to further discussion. Or removed all together. Just goes to show what happens when someone or something is overwhelmed with negativity and left with no defense. It is particularly embarrassing when there was nothing worth defending in the first place. Shut it down or take it away, that'll show 'em. At least we can be assured that there will be no vaping/smoking in the casinos, or anywhere else indoors on X ships.

Do you really think we needed so many threads on the same topic?

I have expressed my serious concerns to Celebrity regarding Vaping in teh Casino (anywhere inside) and did get a phone call...

I let Celebrity know that if this policy goes forwrad I will confirm my displeasure by taking my vacation money elsewhere... In other words will let my money do the talking...

I have already investigated smoking/vaping policy on other ships and have continued by looking at their itineraries finding a couple I could switch my money to instead of sailing in what for us would be an unhealthy enviroment....

Of course.

Nothing like a good lobster thread.

Nothing like a good dead person in the Celebrity cooler thread.

Nothing like a good cheeseburger in the MDR thread.

Nothing like a good smoking/vaping/pot thread.

🙂 🙂🙂
