Vaping in Celebrity casinos

I may not play in the casino, but it may well cost them future cruises from me. I'd planned on booking a cruise while onboard my upcoming Summit cruise - an actual date to avoid extra work for my TA converting it. Now I'm thinking if I book anything it'll be the Book Later thing so I can see how the vaping thing plays out and if it becomes policy to allow it, I can just not book anything and get the deposit back.

I mean, I know I'm just one solo cruiser who does ocean view, basic veranda, or solo IV - and who doesn't go near the casino - but..

booking future is not really extra work for your TA.  If you booked the cruise you are on with your TA, and book future - the TAs info is associated with the "future".  If it is not, you can associate the TA with the future booking at time of booking the future.  (assuming they get this vaping thing sorted out and you decide to book)

I too have written to Celebrity about my concern with this potential policy change and if it does take effect will show my displeasure by cancelling some 9 cruises that I have booked...

I can as easily spend my money with the few luxury lines that limit smoking/vaping to exterior decks...

And some even offer better itineraries... more exotic and after 100 cruises I tend to look for the more exoctic / out of the norm ports of call/itinerairy

But vaping is so safe

From Canadian Lung Association

  •  The maximum nicotine levels in e-cigarettes in Canada are 66mg/ml. That’s three times what is allowed in the European Union (20 mg/ml) leaving users over exposed to high amounts of nicotine, which may lead to lifelong dependence.  That's like tripling the size of a regular cigarette.

Princess is another that still allows smoking/vaping in the casino.

IMO, Celebrity will rejoin that list soon. Just a random prediction from some guy on the internet.

Is it Princess or HAL that allows smoking in the casinos of some - but not all - of their fleet?

Princess is fleetwide. Princess also has a cigar smoking lounge by the casino on their ships called Churchills. Flashback, Celebrity's Michaels Club.

We've only taken 1 HAL cruise and that was in 2001. At that time part of the MDR had a smoking section toward the back.

But there is a difference. the e cig chemicals are heated. Many chemicals become more toxic with heat.  And in a condensed form. (sorry. sis has Masters in biochemistry so I ve been getting input).

And again, John Hopkins report….. posted on other threads, is just one that indicates ecigs are not healthy

The huge point here is Celebrity has been known for ages as a non smoking line unless in designated area. That is why many book.  For some reason vapers think they can get away with it.  pls read a post I submitted about witnessing 2 separate vapings on the Summit-on our April/May cruise

Bottom line. Celebrity wants to try upcharging for meals, one has the option of not buying.  Doesn’t impact me.   Smoke …. that is a whole different ballgame because one impacts you.  Vaping impacts others.

I wish I could disagree with you. I may be putting my Celebrity cheerleader pom poms away when it comes to no inside vaping anywhere, fleetwide.

Random thought. I can see a lot of smokers taking up vaping while cruising with Celebrity.

Interesting, I just spent 3 nights in Las Vegas. Visited Flamingo, Red Rock, Bellagio, Linq and O'Sheas. Smoking smell permeated all of them, and Red Rock especially had numerous smokers both on the machines and playing at the bars. Many table players had ashtrays with butts next to them. Couldn't even get close to  BJ table without hating the smoke.

I expect vaping if it goes fleet-wide will be more tolerable but still annoying.

I generally stay on the strip and I do smell it but do not see many smokers/vapers.  When I do see smoking, it’s generally cigs who are 40+ years old.  I almost never see those in their 20s vaping at the casino so do not believe it’s an age thing

There is extra work if I do the certificate and not a specific cruise. That requires her to then contact the cruiseline to convert the certificate (for lack of a better word) to an actual cruise.

One step at a time.  Vaping first and then smoking.

It is a money grab.  Gamblers tend to smoke more than others.

Yes, but it's just like booking a cruise really since their name's already on the booking.  You are a dream client.  ❤️

People are already vaping in the casino and pretty much everywhere else on the ship, as well as on the airplane ride to the cruise, you just are not noticing it or smelling it.

How can you not notice a puff of smoke on an airplane?  I see it at the pool on a lot of my cruises but saying something is the same as saying something about chair hogs.  Nothing ever happens to them.  The crew is afraid to anger any passenger and that is the cruise lines fault.

That is disappointing.  I can go on a land vacation and not have to put up with it at the pools.

I have occasionally seen a person or two vaping at outside bars on Celebrity ships over the past few years.  Although not allowed by the rules, it seems to be tolerated.

Fair chance it’s marijuana and not tobacco.  I have smelled it every cruise I’ve been on and it’s usually someone smoking it (very strong smell) and not vaping it (very faint smell)

Agree. The burnt marijuana smell was less when I used a bong vs smoking it using Zig Zags or a pipe.
