What happens if you get Covid 3 days before boarding

So now we have Covid what is Celebrity policy?😵‍💫

Don't go.

Cancel with X and contact your travel insurance. Here's what happened last September when we had to cancel for medical reasons: We cancelled with the cruise line first, and they refunded the portion of our payment that was taxes, port fees and pre-paid gratuities. This happened pretty quickly. Our travel insurance gave us forms to have our doctor fill out, verifying we were advised not to travel. We also needed an invoice showing the total we paid for the cruise. The travel insurance paid in about 60 days.

So, this is what Celebrity says:

If you feel ill in the days before your cruise, you should not travel. Keep in mind you will need to answer a health questionnaire prior to boarding. A positive test result, or documented symptoms of communicable disease during the boarding process, will result in denial of boarding.

We recommend guests purchase travel protection to cover any interruptions to their travel plans such as illness and travel delays. Travel protection is available for purchase through our CruiseCare® program.

IMO, You should talk to your primary care physician, and get a lab test if you haven't had one. Get your physician to write a letter that you are unable to cruise due to quarantining for COVID and cancel. You will not be permitted to board.

I'm curious how one gets a doctor's note confirming they have Covid?  I didn't go to a doctor when I had it last year, and I assume your doctor's office doesn't want you to come in.  How exactly would you get them to complete any paperwork without examining you?

Telehealth visit and proctored test.

One could always use one of the monitored covid testing service and they send you results which can be used in lieu of a doctors note.   Also at lest for us with Kaiser you can go to a Kaiser Testing Center and get results as well as an anti-viral.

When we booked direct with Celebrity the agent told us if we cancelled due to Covid, celebrity would fully refund our money and we didn’t need insurance for this. He was pretty adamant and was offering us their cancellation insurance.  I realize that was one agent and it was august.

It was also incorrect.

That's how it was for awhile when cruising resumed .  That is NOT how it works now.

Thanks everyone for your input.  After testing twice my wife and I decided it was not worth risking the health of those around us to not be truthful when answering the health questionnaire.  Truthfully, I was in no position to travel as I was quite sick.  So here is our situation as it stands now ….. we have now returned home, called Celebrity, and we were asked to provide documentation of our Covid tests, which we have done.  And after discussion with one Agent, we were told a fFCC could be issued.  The second individual we spoke to indicated that that request would have to be approved by an Executive, and it may not be for the full amount.

At this point we are at peace with our decision and only hope things work out for us.

I hope they do the right thing for you since you've voluntarily done the right thing for everyone else on the ship.

I'm sorry to hear you are ill!

THANK YOU for making the right decision and protecting others.

I truly hope all works out well for you with the refunds. It would be really awful if doing the right thing lead to a financial loss for you in this sense.  That only incentivizes people to go when they are sick which perpetuates the whole problem.

Feel better soon.

That's what I would expect, since Celebrity is saying you can't board with covid, even you wanted to, so it is essentially Celebrity cancelling your cruise.

In my case last September, I called my doctor's office and told them I had tested positive on a home test, and gave them my symptoms. One of the doctors called back and we discussed how to handle, when to go to ER, and when to call them back. The illness is then recorded by the doctor on the date you call.

My doctor was fine with providing the letter for the insurance company.

My Immediate Care asks you to park and call them. They come out and test you. If you need a Dr they escort you to an office to be seen.

when I was in Jackson Hole on a vacation tour and felt bad and tested positive, I called the ER. They had me come in, wearing a mask and I saw a Dr who provided the documentation I needed.

I isolated for 5 days and flew home insurance required a Dr report so all worked out. Took 2 months to be reimbursed.
