Thanks for the Report.

Spring arrives today, so, of course, it's snowing! 🤔 We've got a weather advisory.  Windy and snow accumulations to 10cm (4in).  I don't think Mother Nature is happy with us.

Hooray for nurses.  Reading is important.

I love the quote.

The meal sounds great - looking forward to seeing recipes.  I'd love the drink on a BHB, but only 1.  Hope the wine is tasty too.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.  I hope your weather is better than ours.

Have a great day.   Stay safe.

Good morning friends!  It's 32F and it will be a sunny day with a high of 60.  Spring begins at 11:06 pm tonight.  DD took down the St. Patrick's Day tree and put up the Easter/Spring tree.  I'll post photos at the end of this post.🐰

Thanks go to Jacqui @kazu and Roy @rafinmd for today's Daily and Fleet Report as well as the maps. I recognize the good work of certified nurses, international clients who help make our businesses a success and would love to have someone read to me.  Another twisted Oscar Wilde quote.  I'm sure someone will enjoy the chicken dish with polenta. Long Island Iced Teas are pretty potent aren't they?  Not a fan of chardonnay unfortunately. Good info on the days in history.  Thank you Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for the great reporting each day.

Prayers for our Care list people and I do like to mention you all by name.  Also for the people at war in Israel and Ukraine, and their hostages still held, plus for the safety of our troops in the region.  And certainly for DB, great nephew Alex's twin boys, my friends Scott and Susan, and for Bob's widow Sandy.  She is struggling with all the paper work for pension problems and the life insurance people.  They all just want you to get frustrated and go away, don't they?  So many prayers and I hope for improvement in all situations!🙏

Cheers to our folks celebrating happy events like birthdays 🎂 and anniversaries and to all who are cruising or preparing to. 🚢 Enjoy!  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the Care and Celebration list keeping.  Wonderful job every day.  I hope your pain issues can be addressed again before things get too bad.

The port of the day is Colombo, Sri Lanka.  It was our port before on June 19, 2022.  I have missed that port before due to various reasons, Covid cancellation being one of them.  Here is the link for your convenience in retrieving your photos.  Thanks in advance!

This morning we have our roofer coming over once the frost on the roof is gone to replace the boots around the vent pipes up there.  Apparently they don't last forever so best to get that done before total failure.  I hope you all have a successful day.  Stay safe and keep well.

Here's the latest celebration tree.  Sorry Debbie about the carrots!

Nurses definitely need to be celebrated! Some of my clients are a pain, but they pay the bills, so I will still celebrate them along w/the nice ones. Not sure what Rwad to Me day is, but I'm sure someone here will know.

Was Mr Wilde being funny or serious?

The meal sounds good if I can leave out the polenta. Pass on the drink, yes to the wine, not been to the port.

Interesting collection of history days.

DH says he wants to take vacation last week of April to end of first week in May, so I will start working toward that. No cruise, he wants to go home to see his family. We were in AK on Eurodam that week last year.

For the 2nd time in a week, the cat spent the night outside - I hope that's not the start of a trend. The kids need to be inside overnight.

Currently chilly 39° headed to sunny 70° with more rain 🌧 tomorrow night; the yard is still wet and we really need to mow.

Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.

Long Island Iced Tea cocktail:

A Long Island iced tea is a type of alcoholic mixed drink typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola, which gives the drink the same amber hue as iced tea. A popular version mixes equal parts vodka, tequila, gin, rum, triple sec, with 1+1⁄2 parts sour mix and a splash of cola. Wikipedia
Main alcohol: Vodka, Tequila, Triple sec, Gin, Rum
Ingredients:
1 oz Gomme Syrup
1 oz Lemon juice,
1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Triple sec,
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz White rum
 splash of Cola

Preparation: Add all ingredients into highball glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon spiral. Serve with straw.
Served: On the rocks; poured over ice
Standard garnish: Lemon spiral
Drinkware: Highball glass

Good Morning, thanks for today's daily fleet report.  It's going to be another beautiful day on the Eurodam. We have nothing planned other than getting off the ship and walking around.   Thinking of taking the water taxi to downtown.

Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie.  Spring doesn’t arrive here until 11:06PM and winter is hanging on for dear life.  I have certainly benefitted recently from the services of Certified Nurses.  Never had an International Client.  I don’t know if it is today but there is a day when volunteers come in to our local elementary school and read to the younger students.

Strange quote by Wilde.  I have not been to Sri Lanka.

I’ll celebrate Faust and the Syndey Harbor Bridge but not so much our refusal to join the League of Ntions.

I’d definitely pass on at least the polenta.  My alternative is Celebration of Fruit Cocktail, Breaded Pork Chop A La Milanese, and Strawberry Sundae as served on MS Prinsendam March 19, 2024:

Good morning.

Thank you for today's daily subjects and HAL fleet locations.

3 interesting days.

Yes to the importance of nurses and reading to children.

I have been out seeing Clients this morning.

I called at the beach to eat my breakfast first.

We have never been to today's port so the highlight for me today is seeing photos of today's port.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

Today's sunrise is from my 2019 Prinsendam Grand South America cruise.  On March 19 Prinsendam visited St. Vincent and Grenadines:

Extensions were granted to submit paperwork (literal old school faxed papers) for both LOA & Accommodation. I have repeatedly checked w/PCP, even made 2 trips in person, being told last Thursday they would send them on Friday. 5:30pm yesterday they called (so they did not submit them) saying they need the visit notes AND recommendations from the specialists as PCP is only the middle man consolidating their findings and recommendations into one form. She will not make any recommendations of her own -  could have said that a month ago - she's the one who suggested the LOA.

The eye doctor gave me drops to use every 1 - 2 hours & told me she has no recommendations beyond that as the only way to see clearly for any period of time is to stop looking at a computer screen, which she understands is not reasonable. Working for xx amount of time then taking a break for xx amount of time will not prevent the blurriness so she will not recommend it. She wanted to perform a procedure, but insurance denied it. So no recommendations from her.

The neurologist said the EMG was clean so the numbness in left hand must be from my neck & sent me to PT. He wrote a script to help w/the tremors, but insurance won't fill it saying they need more info from him. He says even if I take it, the tremors won't stop and will continue to get worse, the meds may only help them not be so severe. The drug is prescribed off-label for tremors - he cautioned me about some of the side effects. He said I'd have to live with the numb left foot. No recommendations from him.

I asked PCP for a referral to a podiatrist and we'll see what they say, but that will not be before the deadline.

The ortho surgeon I'm seeing for my frozen shoulder & eventual surgery to address some tears will sign off on a leave when it's time to operate. Until then, it's PT. So no recommendations from him.

I am at a loss as how to proceed and am beginning to think my only option is to quit my job. I had planned to do that once I reach the age for max SS benefits, which I think is 72 (?), and am not financially in a position to leave now. I am fortunate to work from home w/a somewhat flex schedule, but I still have to show up and get my job done.

Little things alone are manageable, piled together, multiple little things become big things.

Thanks for listening. I'm open to suggestions.

Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte.

Sunny and a high of only 72 today as we had a cool front move in last night.

Good selection of days, DW was a registered nurse for 40 years including running an Intensive Care Unit for 25 of those years. Taking care of me can be very intensive at times.

I’m thinking real hard about the quote.

The meal sounds appealing.

DS and her hubby are visiting us today as they are spending all of March in Clearwater.

Have a great day and stay well.

Happy International Read to Me Day! IMG_0311.thumb.png.8e256f326b31938891b016f6eb9251d2.pngOur local library has a wonderful program where children read to dogs.

More than one out of five students in primary school is reading below their expected grade level. Research has shown that reading out loud to another person can improve overall reading performance for poor readers. Reading out loud to a dog improves reading comprehension even more than reading to an adult.

The learning process is really simple. The child gets to choose a book at their current level of competency and sits and reads to the dog out loud. The dog provides a nonjudgmental and socially supportive presence, and by staying near and paying attention to the child the dog provides positive reinforcement that improves both self-esteem and motivation in the child.

Sending you all good wishes.

Good morning. The cold has returned for the first day of spring and will remain for a few days. We have  quite a few nurses in the extended family and I celebrate them all.The recipe sounds great but would be made with pasta here. It is a tough crowd at times!

I find the quote funny. I have not been to the port. I will never understand Isolationism and not ratifying the League of Nations covenant.

@StLouisCruisers, Sandi, I was so happy to read that your DGD is feeling better. Also, the carrot/Easter tree is beautiful. We should send Debbie a small copy of it.
I find myself laughing as I chop  up carrots for soups and stews these days. Thanks for the laughs.

@Haljo1935, Elizabeth, I have been in your situation and it is very difficult. I could no longer do my very physical job and held  out as long as I could. It was hell getting specialists and PCP’s to fill out the disability paperwork . I was not able to wait for Social security payments by age as DD DH had already been forced to retire himself. The plus side of all of the angst was that I was able to improve in some areas and continue to do fairly well today.I was grateful to be able to do the work I loved for as long as I did but it is rough on the body. Sending hugs your way as it sounds like there is an awful lot going on medically for you.

Enjoy the day today everyone!
