molly361 Posted July 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I wonder if RCL will follow NCL? I guess it is only a matter of time. It has been heading in that direction http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=5931

Rare LMaxwell Posted July 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Seems to represent decent value; 10% off main booking, all tips included, etc. If you want the food and booze and plan to do excursions it's a good deal. I always see the highest OBC offers from NCL; maybe they are trying to get away from that and get cash flow instead of handing out credits? pe4all Posted July 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I wonder if RCL will follow NCL? I guess it is only a matter of time. It has been heading in that direction http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=5931 Interesting. We would pass, however, as all 4 of us in the cabin must purchase the program. 2 of my adults don't drink (medication issues) so the unlimited alcohol wouldn't be used, and the 1,000 minutes of internet time would be wasted. (250 min. x 4 - we use around 50 min. per cruise). I am sure some people will be thrilled, though!

cruzsnooze Posted July 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2014 The cost is too high to interest me. At $899 Per person that's almost the cost of of the 7 night cruise, and I don't drink enough to make it anywhere near a decent value. RCL will watch carefully I'm sure and if they think they could make a profit will follow suit.
George C Posted July 31, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We did get the all you can drink package on last cruise and love AI's so we would consider this if offered by RCCL or any other line we like
ryano Posted July 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Thats expensive to me but just paying for one Ultimate package alone and you already over half the price of the AI. I dont like that they will make everyone purchase it either. Im wondering if they will rethink that like RCI did with their drink packages. Not much of a drinker and basically satisfied with the D lounge offering.

Just seems to me aside from the drinks and gratuities, they've got a LOT of stuff listed as free that was already free. Pools. Cinema. Room Service. Also notice the Specialty Dining still has an extra charge. Not as inclusive as I'd expect. My idea is I'm going to get any all-inclusive thing, the only time I bust out money-- or Sea Pass in lieu of-- on that ship is in the Casino or tipping above and beyond. spiritkat090909 Posted August 1, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Sounds like a good deal for a Med or Europe cruise booked in the US....my husband says...only if the JEWELRY is included.
robandana Posted August 2, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Hey I just did 2 mock reservations: 1 on the UK website with the all inclusive and 1 on the Canadian website No All inclusive. I used the Freedom sailing Nov 09 2014 in both cases and a PR Interior Stateroom (the cheapest) and the UK site was $1000 CAD more than the Canadian one so if you add the basic drinks package and the tips it's still cheaper to book out here....and I did not use the resident discount which sometimes makes a small difference. Just for your info. Edited August 2, 2014 by robandana

knittinggirl Posted August 2, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Ran some totals on the Norwegian offer, but I had to guess at some of the numbers. That's assuming we use everything. Also, some people have said they don't get all their money's worth w/ the drink package. Some I got off the website, and some I guessed. Shore Excursion $200.00 Bottled Water $28.45 Photos $400.00 Internet $150.00 chocolate covered strawberries $9.00 dining $120.00 wine $40.00 bingo $25.00 tips $85.00 beverage $440.00 total $1,497.45 Edited August 2, 2014 by knittinggirl
gkny Posted August 2, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 2, 2014 I probably would use it if it went down to $600 pp.

phoenix1181 Posted August 2, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 2, 2014 I just ran the numbers for how we cruise & it would work for us. We certainly wouldn't use all the internet minutes or take all those photos but if it's offered the next time we cruise NCL we'll probably take it. Our next two are with Royal & I'd love to see them offer something similar. But..... one of them is 15 days so I'm not sure I could swing it!
