  1. It must be the day for surgeries gone wonky.  I'm home, but Chuck is not.  Surgery unsuccessful with complications, and NO the dr did not call me or stick around to talk with me.  I was sitting in the lobby at the hospital because the first batch of nurses said I had to, He wouldnt be in long.  When two burly men nurses came to get him for the surgery, they said 4 hours.  I went and got some food, and sat in the car, and walked in the rain, went back to the lobby, called, before I left the car, they said he was not out yet.  Sat back down in the lobby and the phone rang.  It was one of the nurses to tell me that DH aka @catmando had to lie flat on his back for the next 4 hours, the surgery was unsuccessful.  They would call but it wouldn't be before 5 today, so I came home. She asked if I wanted to come down the hall, I asked if he was asleep, she said yes, and I said no, I have thing to do, let sleeping puppies like.  When awake all he does is curse and say OUCH a lot.   If he is asleep he is not in pain, or if he is, he doesn't know it.  And it is freezing back there.  So if there are changes, they will call.  Otherwise I am on stand by.

@Nickelpenny I too would vote for milkshakes, but maybe some clear broth.  Women cannot live off gingerale forever.  Please do as the doc says,  and maybe see if they can get a nurse for you when you get home.

Time to give momma cat her special food, I hope everyone is having a good day.

  2. I tried to open the quilt picture, and my computer said I had to add something, to look and since our computer is slower than molasses in January, I figured I shouldnt add something else, so thank you @kochleffel and @SusieKIslandGirlits beautiful, the colors remind me of the sea/night sky.

I did OK at the Pulmonologist, they had me walk for 6 minutes to see if my breathing got worse, and my oxygen go down, quite the reverse. The nurse could not keep up with me, so she just stood in the hall, and I would show her the oxygen level as I walked by.  Seems I should  get off my butt more.  DH has gotten to the point where they can't do a breathing test because of the holes in his face.  Doc just told him to quit smoking, or at least cut down.

Tomorrow morning is his surgery.  Be at the hospital at 9, surgery at 11. He wants to go to bed early, and I'm with him on that.

I did go out to add litter to Munchkins box, and when I walked out on the porch, the kittens were all bouncing around in their box, sat down and stared at me when I said hello kittens.

Reminded me of "the claw" in Toy Story.

@kazuI hope you are feeling better

@NickelpennyI hope that you are surviving today, even though -not admitted, I hope they feed you and take care of you.  I hope all went well.

    Hugs to all of you

  3. Good Monday Morning Dailyites!  ITs cloudy, 63 degrees and when i took the cat food out to the strays, it was raining, just a bit.  But only one stray showed up.  I guess he gets to eat 4 plates of food.

We took Donna out for lunch yesterday at her favorite Mexican restaurant.  She gave me a lovely flower  pin (she said it was from the cats) and another pin from the dog for mothers day.  How sweet.

Yesterday with Donna, (so there was a lot of supervision) we decided to let the kittens out of the box, and let them wander around on the porch.  When we took the first one out, Momma cat freaked out, then we took another one out, and then the third, and momma cat was going bonkers, and when we took the littlest one out, she ran over and tried to stop him from walking around.  Guess we will do that again this afternoon for just a little bit.  They all slept better after the exercise.

Today, it's shower, walk the dog, work, fix lunch, go to the Lung Dr's today, see if I cant send the oxygen tanks back, it turned out they are charging me 183.00 every three months.  And neither of us are using it now.  Need to talk to the lung doctor about it, as he never asked if and how we were using it.

@richwmnNice to have you back.  I hope that you had a wonderful cruise.

The combination of sweet potato and black beans, add some onions, and it sounds like a good home fry combo, but I like meat.  I have been hearing tree frogs at night, its a lovely sound, but other than a rather large frog/toad that got squashed on the road, I have not seen any of them alive this year. Yet. I like tomato juice. Leave the alcohol and spicy stuff out.

  4. Good Sunday Morning Dailyites! Its sunny, the computer says its 58 degrees, the weatherman said it would warm up to 80.

Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers, and I am worried about the outcome with @RedneckBob with it being Limerick Day.  I will celebrate Limerick Maine instead where I spent a wonderful week in 77 with a college friend at his Grandmothers house.  Yes there was running water, and yes there was a toilet, but she would have none of it, so there was an outhouse, and to bathe? We had to use the pond in the back yard.  I wonder how she survived winters..

I like baby bok choy, and since @dfish once recommended roasting veggies, I roast baby bok choy, and serve it with shrimp (along with other veggies) But not in soup. I will celebrate veggies, and all plants even algae.  I read last night that scientists have created a new plastic with algae.  It is biodegradable.  That's not bad unless it dissolves before its use is done.

We saw the ISS last night, but not the aurora, and I was in bed by 11.  I was tired!  I had to watch a zoom video on my next campaign, and while the video was one hour and thirty eight minutes long, with all the notes that I had to write down, it took me 3 hours to finish it.  Sent in my hours, and my boss questioned me on why it took me 3 hours to watch a 1.38 minute video.

And I dont even really get to work with them until 6/9.

We still have not heard if DH's surgery has been scheduled yet.  Neither the hospital has called regarding Tuesday, but Carrie Lynn at the doctors office cant find out if the laser is now operable.

I hope everyone enjoys the day.  Time spent with Moms or memories of Mom. My nick name for my mom was Mimsy Whimsical which I started calling her the day she decided to start dancing and singing "Who wears short shorts?"  in front of my friends.

  6. Good Saturday Morning Dailyites!  Thank you @grapau27for the information on the rolling foam.  I first thought it was taking the foam off the futon and rolling it back up and putting it in the closet.  Which I always find challenging.

Last night DH and I went outside to see the ISS go over, and we saw a lot of red in the sky.  At first I thought it was a neon disaster, but it turned out it was the aurora.  This far south!  The solar storm in this area had increased, so I am thinking those up north must have had quite a show.

The temps dropped yesterday, very low humidity, had to turn the heater back on on the porch. Kittens are trying to escape from the box, and Munchkin will have none of it. They stand on their back legs, get those tiny claws into the top of the box, and start pulling themselves up , poke their heads  over the edge to see the rest of the world, and Momma cat runs over and bops them on the heads until they let go, and drop back down into the box.

I followed the nurses directions on sleeping with my head elevated, it actually helped with the pain, so I slept on the sofa, with one cat (who had me pinned so well, that I had no idea who it was) and slept for 8 hours.  The whole time sliding down off the pillows, until I became a ball at the end of the sofa, but I slept!  8 hours in a row!  No waking up!  No leg cramps!  No one getting up and turning on all the lights.  Sleep, it's so wonderful, if I didnt have to go to the laundromat today, I would consider doing it all day....

  7. I'm back, I ate, I slept, and I am glad I didn't die at the oral surgeons,  whether OK or not  Being as hungry as I was though, and in no pain, Donna and Chuck ran off to get me some chick fil a strips, a vanilla milkshake that I ate with a spoon, and a bag of potato chips.  My request.  I still was not in pain when they returned, but was still very hungry, and I ate it all.  My tummy was happy, my blood sugar didn't go sky rocketing, and I felt fine....for about 20 minutes.

They decided to put me under, and not use the laughing gas, and there were 4 techs and nurses, and they all had a terrible time trying to find a vein...I hate needles, but when you don't let me hydrate the night before, then my veins just hide.  So I had bandaids on both arms when I de- fuzzed I removed both of them, and my arms are pretty bruised up.

I remember before we left, that they said I could chew real food on the right, and the mushy food on the left.  Figured I was ok.  After I ate, and took a nap, woke up and I read that I was only supposed to eat mushy food today.  And I was in pain, BUT the pain pills are hard core, so I told DH not to get them filled, and then after that nap, I told him to get them filled.  But then, I read the small print, that I would not be able to drive if I took them, and since in reality I am the driver, and he is having surgery next week, that's a no for me.  I did not pick them up yet. And I will stop by tomorrow and tell them to put them back.

Last week I washed too many clothes, and the washer took all that cat fur and clogged the drain. DH monitored every load, and then when I was drying the last load, it stopped in the middle of the drying, and everything was WAY TOO HOT!  There was still 30 minutes on the count down, and i shut it off.  So we are off sometime to look for a washer and dryer, and until then, I get to meet my neighbors at the laundromat.  So that is what I will be doing tomorrow.   The machines I have are over 25 years old.  I bought them used from two guys who wanted to upgrade, and they have worked fine until about a month ago.  But now I am scared that they will catch fire, and it turns out that DH never fixed the smoke detector that was part of the original built in alarm system.   He says I worry too much, but there might be a good reason for that.

@StLouisCruisers You had a lucky drive, seems the storms hit Tallahassee quite hard, and kept on heading east.  And it got quite cool up here last night.

@JazzyVIf there is a downstairs bed for your BFF, maybe the two of you can be together and help each other out.  I take it you have gotten back to the upstairs bed, and I am so glad that you are sleeping now.

Speaking of sleeping, I have been told by the nurse that I have to sleep with my head highly elevated this evening. Bleeding should stop in 2 days.  Sofa time with the cats again!

For those who get to see the aurora tonight I am jealous.  The scientists did say it could interfere with radio and broadcasting, but I am still jealous.  I get to see the International Space station tonight -if I can stay awake.  If you are interested in seeing the ISS, you can google ISS and register.  They will send you notices of date and time when it can be seen in your zip code area.  I have notices set up at 12 hours in advance.  There was a 7 minute viewing this morning, I was up, but the clouds were too.  It's clear now, and the viewing will be a 6 minute sky view.  I always wave as they go over.   I doubt if they see that.

@erewhonI have seen that notice years ago.  I shut off the computer, and DH put black tape over the camera hole.  Now we have weekly zoom meetings for work to go to, so the tape is gone. Our sound is always turned off, unless we are listening to Father David.

  8. Good Friday Morning Dailyites!  I thought I'd pop in to say "Hey" before we left for the Oral Surgeon, and I plan on sleeping the rest of the day.  I think we got 3 hours sleep, not from nervousness, just DH couldnt settle down to sleep. Which with the lights coming on, and going off made it like a lightning storm.  Speaking of which, we had several huge bangs and crackle yesterday, without rain involved.  Just "out of the blue"  no pre rumblings.  The storms were heading south so I do hope that @StLouisCruisers is having a safe drive south.

I was doing really well trying to make a sale last night, and the very nice man said, well, I really only want one production.  So after 34 minutes of giving price quotes and seating availability, I said if he really only wanted the one, I would erase this info, but he would have to call or go on line to just get one opera, as I only can sell a 3 pack.  We parted ways, and DH said he was sorry I really had my heart in on that sale.  10 minutes later my boss called me to commiserate with me, as the call had been monitored, BUT he said the man actually called the number on the phone back,  which had been made active yesterday and asked for me, so I called him back and I made a larger sale than I had quoted.  And once again, the computer screen did not add correctly. So I worked more than 8 hours yesterday, and the bosses have to make some adjustment for me to get paid the extra 30 minutes.  Poor bosses though, they had to make adjustments to get the total right.  The computer keeps charging more than the sale.  Talk about hidden fees, we cant see them.

I had a hamster (due to cat allergy).  HIs name was Hubert Horatio Hamster.  They are cute, but you really cant snuggle up at night with one, and they lack a lot of personality.  Huberts's biggest adventure was escaping from his cage, when we were on vacation,  and he took all of his bedding and food and moved into my mothers' shower.  I dont think a Hostess cupcake is on my menu today, but I ate my fair share when I was in high school.  I prefer to never eat ground turkey, and I have never been to Nova Scotia, but would love the visit.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Friday. I hope I can eat something once this is over this morning, and I really NEED coffee, but again, no food or drink until post surgery.

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites! Currently 72 and cloudy.  The computer says its mostly cloudy.  It is completely cloudy.  We are under a tornado watch until 1, the rain they said would be in Stone Mountain at 3 am never came this far south.  But they keep saying it will get here.  My neighbor doesn't like to leave home or the dog when the weather is bad, so she is home today.  Since DH has informed me that if he takes his pain pills the night before, he wont be able to drive me to the docs tomorrow morning,  I asked Donna (the neighbor) if she could take me, and she said yes, so I guess she gets two days off.  I am so grateful to have her as a friend and neighbor.  I thought that if they gave me "laughing gas" I wouldnt have a problem driving home, but have been informed by my friend Penny, that it will put me in a twilight sleep, and I wont be able to drive home.

Years ago during a tornado watch my boss told us to flip the shutters in the office to up, not down, in the event that the building was hit.  This would keep glass flying all over us if we got hit, so last night I turned our shutters to the up in the bedroom.  I felt safer, but way too warm.

Yesterday while we were out,  we had lunch at Pastries a go go.  They make a great chef salad, and when they reopened for seating after Covid, they didnt have a baker, and the pastries were gone.  But they must have hired someone because they had pastries again! And free samples of Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread).  I bought two for our breakfast this morning. They are about the size of a mid size bagel, and while not very sweet, they were good, so I cant wait til my stomach gets hungry.

I hope you all stay safe today with the weather and the world, have a wonderful day!

  10. Back from todays adventure-DH is scheduled for another 4 hour procedure  next Tuesday to replace or clean out the stent in his leg.  They are going to call to verify. They were unable to finish the procedure last time because they needed the laser to work, and it didn't .  Hoping that they verify that it is working before the next surgery.

I almost forgot about work this morning, as I stopped to talk to the kittens after walking the neighbors dog.  They are SOOOO CUTE!  More pictures to come soon.

  11. Good Wednesday Morning Dailyites! The sun is not up high enough for me to verify it's existence for today, but it seems that since the birds are up and feeding at the feeder, it must be as it is light in the front of the house, and still dark in the back.

The trip to vet for Munchikin and the 4 "monster" babies was a bit of a learning experience.  Turns out kitten food should be fed to the mother to help produce milk for the kittens.  I thought it was food for the kittens when they are old enough to eat.  And it is , but it should be Munchkins food for now.  She hates it.  But she is not producing enough milk for the babies.so now DH and I have to take over supplemental feeding.  And I can mix the food in with her regular food, so we are hoping that  helps.  The babies are growing, and slowly walking around in their box. The white and black one, is even standing on her back legs, pulling herself up to the top of the box to look out and see the world.  The "herd" consists of two girls and two boys.  The vet didn't really know how much they should weigh, but based on Momma's lack of milk, she thinks they should be a little more in weight.  Sadly I could find more on the internet regarding kittens, than this vet knew.

We got the kittens and Momma all settled back on the porch, and then ran out to get what we needed, more kitten food, litter for mom, litter for our indoorians, paper plates to feed the cat gang on, and lunch, and whatever dinner might be.  On the way home on a 3 lane highway, and me driving in the right lane, some idiot turned from the center lane into my lane, so that he could drive into a business parking lot.  I saw the motion to get in my lane,so I started slowing down, but he crossed right in front of me  and I had to slam on the brakes.  I told DH if we had two cars, I really would have slammed right into this idiot, but we dont, so DH and I were both pretty shooken up by the very quick stop, and I probably wore flat spots on the tires.  I was still shaking by the time we got home, and got the groceries out, and I  learned once again that Stress will affect your blood sugar, as all of a sudden my diabetes meter started screaming.  I checked it,  the graph showed it had shot straight up. Sat for a few minutes to calm down and then went to work.

I owe my boss one hour this morning, and then take DH to his heart and vein doc appointment.  Since the PET scan showed irritation on his leg stent, more surgery is in the very near future. This was the area that the doc could not clear without a laser, and the laser was not working the day of his previous surgery.  So back to the hospital, soon!

I now need to go back and catch up on reading yesterdays daily.  I hope you all have a wonderful and safe day.

Before I forget, my Dad told me that one of the worst days in history for animals was in the late 1890's.  Vermont. August. The cattle were up on the hills, and a snow storm-really a blizzard came in, and no one could get to the animals, they pretty much froze to death, so it is important to be aware of National Animal Disaster preparedness Day.. Hugs-Annie

  12. Good Tuesday Morning Dailyites!  Its sunny and 69, expecting to go up to 87. Today we take Munchkin and her babies for their first vet visit.  She will go in the large carrier, and the 4 little monsters will go in the small carrier.  When I took the food out to momma, it appears my stray male pack is building back up.  Getting quite the regulars. The porch still seems to be the safest place for momma and the kittens, but we will have to introduce them to the indoor herd soon.

I worked 8 hours yesterday-havent done that in a while, today if all works out, I will work 7.5 hours....tomorrow back at 5 hours.  One campaign does not work on Friday, one does not work on Saturday. I am planning on doing some local museum trips.

@kazu You can complain here.  We love you ,and it lowers your blood pressure.  I do agree with @dfish that this all came from a pedicure, you might want to sue them. Or slap them.

@JazzyVI am so sorry about your BFF's broken foot.  How ironic that it all happened on the first day that you could drive. I can just hear my mom going on about how unsafe flip flops are... and yet I still love them.  I havent been wearing them at any time that I have fallen.  I hope that his pain is relieved soon.

@smitty34877Thanks for the tip on the air conditioning.  Its been so warm here, and the pollen is terrible, but we need new filters before we can even think about turning it on. And the temps are supposed to drop this weekend -down to 54.  Ah, May....

@Cruzin TerriI'm glad that you are changing plans where both of you can be happy.

Off to wake up hubby, walk the neighbors dog, and get the fur babies ready for their first vet trip.  Whoopee!

  13. Time to make the afternoon coffee, slice the steak for steak salad (leftovers from yesterday) that I will crunch and munch on sometime later this evening between making phone calls.  I've had 3 days off from the opera, and now I have to rethink and relearn.  OMG!  Time off is wonderful.

I have been hearing thunder all afternoon, on and off, but no rain here. It's all happening south of me-again @StLouisCruisers be safe!  At least you dont have to drive in to Atlanta.

Just got an email that all events at Emory have been cancelled during this commencement weekend.  Didnt have anything planned over there for once, and got another email from the Atlanta Master Chorale that it will be time to renew at the end of May.  We sit in a row with 4 seats, and we are a group of 3.  This next season we will buy the 4th seat, so we can take Dan, the BFF in October before our vacation, take the neighbor for the Christmas concert, and Deb can bring a friend to the last two concerts. Well, off to send my report, send a text to my boss to move me to the other campaign and get the coffee going!  Hugs, to all of you!

  14. Good Monday Morning Dailyites!.  We got the house clean before our guest arrived-and yes, she is adopting the white and black kittner, who she named Jersey (as in cow). Now to get the washing machine to drain, so I can do loads of laundry.

It rained a lot yesterday afternoon and night, but now it's cloudy and 67 degrees. I actually dont know what it is supposed to do today, but Sandi-be safe on the way home. Which brings me to the question, Now that Morgan has graduated, where is she headed?  Or will she be staying on with the Aquarium?

The weatherman just came on with the local weather-um.....unsettled weather for the week, with temps going down at the end of it.

Well this is new, getting up to go to a job that starts at 9:30.  I still have to walk the dog before work, and get breakfast.  Then off for 3.5 hours then back on for 5.  Then off at 9 at night.

  15. Good Sunday Morning Dailyites!  So much happening today with everyone!

@kazuNice to have you home, glad that Ivan was happy to see you and that the sitter worked out well.  Get in to see the doc again about the foot, and sorry you have to make your own coffee again.

@YourWorldWithBill and @Heartgrove Bon Voyage!  Enjoy the cruise, and relearn how to be spoiled again.

@dfishThank you for the recipes.  Those steak ones look fabulous!  Especially since Cannibalism is illegal, and not very appealing, it was a much better choice than Eleanor.

We went out for Mexican last night before we went grocery shopping.  I had something fabulous, very tasty, and cheesy.  I did try the non alcoholic Sangria soda pop.  And left over half of it. Way too sweet.

Today is CLEAN THE HOUSE!  As our friend Debbie is going to come over to see which kitten she wants to adopt. We are pretty sure she is going to take the white and black one.  We never did settle on a time, just sometime after noon.  She really is not a morning person so I have a few hours to make this place look clean.  Since it's a home, an office and a cat rescue center it seems that papers fly, dust settles and fur balls blend into carpet.   And I get to make breakfast too!

With so much going on between appointments and the jobs, I sometimes have no idea what day it is, and I thought today was Monday, and woke up way to early. Oh well.

@grapau27Thank you for the sermon this morning.  Not only history, but a straight forward approach to a good life, and when DH is ready I will play it for him.  I also meant to thank you for this week's food porn.

One of the reasons I love cruises is that I dont have to cook, or even think up a menu that will be best for the two of us. Me low carb, DH something he will actually eat.
