Questions about B2B

Recommended Posts

You don´t have to take your luggage off the ship.

In the US you have to get off the ship, clear customs and reboard. In other countries around the world it can vary if you have to leave the ship or not.

The US requires that all passengers clear the ship. Once Zero count is confirmed . Passengers will be allowed board starting with In transit Passengers.

On our B2B's we just walked off and got right back on again...We had almost 2 hours onboard (nice) before the next group of cruisers were allowed to board.

No. You leave your luggage in your room and the stewards will move it if you are changing cabins. The concierge will escort you to customs and back onto the ship. It’s quick and easy.

It rarely (if ever) involves the concierge.

Someone from the ship's staff will be your escort.

WE did a B2B on Harmony in January, 2017. Did not leave the ship. All B2B cruisers went to the MDR & the customs people came

to us. Were issued our new cards & were done. Even had a special lunch in the MDR for B2B cruisers. Painless.

Our b2b on Oasis this last fall, we got off and had to hang out for 1/2 hour or so before we reboarded. They let us back on as soon as it was allowed, but that meant while we were #2 and #3 onboard, everyone was right behind us. We literally had no time between our b2b'ers boarding and boarding for everyone else. So, I guess it varies from ship to ship. We're doing another b2b in fall 2019, this time on Harmony, but also out of PC so we'll see how they handle it.

I have also heard from others that do a B2B that if you stay in the same cabin, tidy up your room yourself that morning and tell your room steward to skip yours today to give them a small but thankful gesture of a break.

I have my second B2B in a few months and I love this idea. It’s something I’ve never heard before and is such a nice thing to do.

Funny thing is about all my Sea Days I get up early go for jog, eat breakfast and then back to my room for sitting/reading on the Balcony. Well it's only 8:30 by then so I just make my own bed & have Room Attendant skip mine in AM. I'm traveling Solo, nothing in trash and will be showering later on so usually only does my room in evenings. I do B2B or B2B2B so get good routine going. Now back 30+ yrs ago Royal room Attendant had 8 rooms, would change sheets everyday and clean room 6 or more times or basically every time you left it during the day.. Of course back then one waiter per table and a 5 course meal that took almost 2hrs to complete

Tried that, steward thought he had upset me in some way.

It is helpful that you posted this.

At some point during the first week, mention to the Cabin Steward that you will be placing the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door to give him/her some relief on Turnaround Day. We also mention it to the Floor Supervisor when he/she checks on us during the week. They have always been grateful.

That's what we did also. Just told our cabin attendant that we did not need turn around service. He was very appreciative. :)

On our B2B last December we all met in the Viking Lounge, Customs was to board and clear us. After waiting 30 minutes we were told that Customs would not be coming on board and we were given new sea pass cards and let go. Easy process.

If you book a B2B do you have to get off the ship, with luggage, clear customs and then reboard? I’m asking for a friend lol

You will be given detailed instructions a couple of days prior to the end of the first leg of your cruise explaining what to do, what to bring, where and what time to meet on TAD.

I just looked into it.. We are on Harmony next September.. I can’t book the same cabin the week before or the week after.. The same floor is available with a cabin about 3 down from where we’re booked now.. I wish I’d have thought about this sooner lol

It’s no big deal. You just pack everything in your luggage except what’s hanging in the closet and the steward will move it for you.

This is correct. Several times in the US I have stayed on the ship but each time B2B's had to Ding off until there was a zero count then Ding back on. It is entirely up to ICE at the port if you have to leave the ship or not.

We stayed on the ship for our recent B2B on Adventure out of Bayonne. It went just as you described. An agent came to the Imperial Lounge and inspected everyone's passports. They dinged everyone off and took our old SeaPass. As soon as they had a zero count, they handed out the new SeaPass cards and dinged everyone aboard. Easy process.

Had to go to Guest Services later to get the old cards.

You didn't, if anything you will be hooked. Doing B2B saves on double airfare paid. I started with 4-7 nite cruises in 80/90s, 9/10nites in 2000's, since 2012 only been only cruising 10-17nites and in B2B or even more... Enjoy!
