The new Elite+ level will include the Classic Beverage Package - from which you can upgrade to Premium for a small fee.

OK... OK... I can dream, can't I? !!

Not sure what additional perks they might be considering, but based on the perks already offered at the Elite level... perhaps something like additional internet minutes or a waived cover charge at a specialty restaurant (or a BOGO)... maybe a few drink coupons.

WHO KNOWS! :)

I mentioned this before on another thread. We're Platinum with Carnival, which is similar to Elite.

Platinum and Diamond (Elite+) board the ship first (after wedding parties). Our cabin is ready and we had our bags within a half hour -- we were totally unpacked a little after 12:00 noon. It was very very nice. This could be added as a + perk for virtually no cost

Carnival also sells a limited number of this perk for $49 a cabin. (they board after Platinum and before suites)

The last time we cruised Celebrity we were in the Elite check-in line and they kept taking people from the Concierge Class line --- I finally had to speak up and said we were also in a CC cabin -- I thought Elite would have at least been equal to CC

So you believe all current benefits will remain and there will be new ones added.

Good luck with that. :p Hope you are right.

I think one benefit they could improve upon is the cabin upgrades. The one cabin upgrade (inside to inside and outside to outside) is one of the first perks the CC had, long before there were balcony cabins, Concierge and Aqua. They could literally come into this century with some change.

The Diamond balcony discount on RCI is very nice :)

Yes, that check-on was the worst ever! I know you are happy with it since it is homeport for you but i don't think I would ever want to sail out of San Diego again.

With 2800 pax on the Solstice and 1500+ people having Elite status or in Concierge & Aqua class, it makes me think that being Classic or Select (or no status at all) is more of a minority and therefore more special.

For embarking at San Diego, we learned that the trick is to arrive at the pier later in the day, after the lines and crowds are gone when you can walk right on with no wait at all.

I hated that big, drab, ugly warehouse of a terminal, needing to wait there sitting on their uncomfortable metal folding chairs the time we made the mistake of getting there early.

We heard that they were supposed to be building a new terminal, but there was a problem with it. The people from the San Diego area probably know the details.

Nothing can happen till they get the website working reasonably well again. That could be a while.

If that is a pre-requisite for making changes to the captain's club program, we might as well close this thread.....or perhaps I should ask how many years there are in "a while"?

It's not just Captain's Club.

I can't access our future cruises and either can lots of people on our Roll Call.

I could and can get into future cruises, but not the CC profile:

"We apologize. Unfortunately we are experiencing a technical difficulty and are unable to handle your request at this time. Please try again later."

LOL, you may be right, either way we are going to have to wait.:D

Ok. So, supposedly, in TWO WEEKS they will be announcing the changes to captains club.

According to my source (the BDM for the NJ/NY region) there will be 2 new levels. I tried to drag more information out of him, but he wouldn't really budge. He did say that one thing they threw around was the idea of giving unlimited internet to suite guests (that's kinda outside of the club though i'd think). That would certainly be a nice perk. He wouldn't give me details about how it might impact anyone, even when i tried to get him to tell me if it would impact me (i'm select now, closing in on elite in 2014 hopefully - but now that they are changing - who knows). He also mentioned upgrades to the laundry options for the levels.

So, here's hoping he wasn't blowing smoke. I know we've heard this time and time again but he seemed to have a lot of info and was pretty adamant about the 2 weeks. So...lets all cross our fingers....

Crossing the fingers might be OK. At least you didn't ask us to hold our breath. :p

Can't eat the waffles if we hold our breath but we can still manage the fork ;-)

I just hope he wasn't full of it. We'll see....though i was hoping changes wouldn't occur until end of 2014 lol.

When Royal Caribbean made their announcement, did the changes take place immediately, or did they set a future date for the credit/conversion?

We'll be going from 20 to 24 credits over the next two months. If Celebrity uses a conversion formula similar to Royal, all current credits should be well "rewarded" in the conversion process.

Time will tell!

We are also Select and will be Elite in February so I was also hoping they wouldn't change anything until the end of 2014. :(

It would be nice if they just added levels and didn't take anything away from current levels.

We were on a RCCL cruise during the RCCL conversion. We should have received the new 14 points for our cruise ( 7 nights in a suite) but were initially given just 2 points – ( because the old version was 2 credits) It took a few months to get straightened out. Once they did the math and looked at the credits ( with the cruise during the conversion) and then converted to points was the same as the new 14 points, they were OK.

Also......Anyone have any idea of reciprocity? Will it still be in place? If there is a higher Elite will that translate to D+ with RCCL and the reverse with RCCL D+ to Celebrity “new” elite?

Hi chamima,

Lots of people worried about losing current loyalty awards, especially elite level, but Celebrity did post here officially about this on Aug. 13, 2013 on a different thread:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=39525331#post39525331

See post #81 by "Celebrity Cruises" but here it is:

"Hi all,

While we can't comment on the VIP program currently being tested, we can confirm that you will not lose any current Captain's Club benefits that you are receiving."

Had their been any announcement about changes prior to that sailing you were on?

Regarding the reciprocity - I would LOVE to see an Elite+ equate to a D+ with Royal. As it stands now, we're "honorary" Diamond with Royal owing to our Elite standing with Celebrity. That Diamond status in turn, thanks to a partnership with Royal and MGM Resorts, gives me a Gold card with Mlife which is handy at any MGM casino (bypassing taxi and buffet lines as well as 10% off in their stores). If I was D+ with Royal that would translate to a Platinum Mlife card and the store discount would increase to 15%.

Going the "other way", MGM Mlife card holders get some nice perks from Royal. Platinum card holders get a free cruise (ocean view) on any non-holiday 3-5 day sailing EACH YEAR. Noir Mlife card holders get a free balcony cabin on a 7 night cruise, again EACH YEAR. Though next year is yet to come - I assume (hope) this partnership continues !! I will add though, that the "free" cruise only applies to those who earn their card status from gaming, NOT from getting it from being a D+ (for example) with Royal! ;)
