Ilovepj Posted September 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2013 HI, Just for fun, I was wondering if anyone ever had no balance to pay on the last night. In other words, let say, you already paid for tips, port stuff, and now you step on the ship, you don't drink, (only free stuff) etc. You don't gamble, I am leaving on my in 8 days, and I always have at least 1000 to spend, so just for fun has anyone ever just not bought anything on board. This does not mean OBC used, I mean you start out with no OBC, but all other things paid before you get on the ship. Again, Just for fun:D
hazeleyez3 Posted September 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Yep. There have been a number of times that we haven't had a balance. Actually, our bill has never been over $
DonnaK Posted September 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Yep. There have been a number of times that we haven't had a balance. Actually, our bill has never been over $100 Our bill is usually under $100 too. Outside of gratuities, we buy nothing (or next to nothing)

herbanrenewal Posted September 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2013 I usually have no balance. I prepay tips. I'm satisfied with the included food and entertainment. I usually self guided tours or walk or catch a cab in ports. Or I join my roll call to meet with others to share private tours, also may be prepaid. I take photos and don't need portraits - walking on the ship on embarking i never get that first shot taken. I am diamond so the only alcohol I drink is wine at the evening event. I don't gamble and other than Celebrity ships, I totally avoid the casinos. Nasty smelling places! When I have OBC I usually buy an occasional bottle of wine with dinner. I have also used it for specialty restaurants but only if I have the OBC to use. I have had balances of $3 to 15 when I didn't want a penny of OBC to go to waste so made a partially covered purchase
karena1 Posted September 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2013 never! We sometimes have a small balance due to OBC, but never ever had we had no balance and I know it will never happen.
xxoocruiser Posted September 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2013 The majority of my cruises I 've never charged anything on my sea pass account. Don't take ship excursions Not drinker be it alcohol or soda Very happy with the food included Don't gamble or play bingo. On board photos are ridiculously expensive. Even tell the photographer to not bother taking my photo. Not a shopper so the on-board shops don't get my money. If I happen to have OBC will find something to treat myself. If there's a balance I generally just donate it to RCCL's partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Darstime Posted September 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2013 We pre pay so that we have a small amount. But never $0 Darlene
reedl Posted September 27, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Most of the time my final amount due is under $100. On my last cruise it was higher because my wife won $300 at the spa, but we spent more than that. I do not drink, and do not do excursions. I prebook the specialty restaurants. Viv0828 Posted September 27, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 27, 2013 We usually only have an internet package to pay.

138east Posted September 27, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 27, 2013 I own stock, so I use that OBC to pay gratuities. On one cruise I bought a drink and a fanny pack and had a -$.01 balance!
Griswolds Posted September 27, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Ours is generally under $200. Typically a few soda's, maybe a portrait, a few things from those super sale tables they set up towards the end of the cruise (we get sucked in!) and maybe an occasional photo. We don't drink so I'm sure that helps. We only cruise when we catch a great deal so our vacation spending is really not that much. I would hate to ruin the savings on paying a large bill on the way out. :p
Colorado Babe Posted September 27, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 27, 2013 And here I thought we did good on our last cruise on the Allure. We usually run a tab of about $800 and a few weeks ago our bill was only $350. We were so proud. Since we were In a GS we didn't have to buy many drinks. Just a wine pkg, a few drinks, spa and some photos. It would have been more but our TA gave us $325 OBC and prepaid gratuities.

We like enjoying the drinks by the pool, the drinks at the bars, the drinks at dinner, the drinks with friends. Also I tend to have to buy a T-shirt and we have in past enjoyed the Speciality restaurants, so for us at least, we will never not have a bill As for gambling, we do contribute to the profits of Royal in that venue too. TEXASMUNK Posted September 27, 2013 #19 Share Posted September 27, 2013 many cruises where we pushed the $2,000 mark! Interesting thread. Onboard spending is one of the keys to profitability for RCI, I would wager they have a really great handle on the average onboard spending and that impacts the rate for cabins. The number crunchers have gotten darn good at knowing what to look for when pricing cabins.

esper10 Posted September 27, 2013 #22 Share Posted September 27, 2013 . The only time we would have a large balance is if we go to ports we never been and take an excretion the ship offer. Other wise small balance of a drink or 2 or 0 balance. We pay tip in advanced. We don't get exited any more with the $10.00 sale ....and everything else is so expensive. Did a specialty restaurant on the Oasis only.

Kesstral Posted September 28, 2013 #24 Share Posted September 28, 2013 I don't anticipate ever coming in at $0 after a cruise, although I don't want to repeat our last tab of about $1200 (I did win some money prior to the cruise so that was my excuse). For our next cruise we've pre-paid gratuities, 2 specialty restaurants, excursions and have a $100 OBC from the next cruise booking. I figure we'll use up the OBC with some drinks and maybe a photo or two. The only real expenditure that I'm not sure of yet is if we will break down and get the internet package.
