After reading all of these reply's, I am getting super excited about my upcoming Transatlantic in a GS, both of which I've never done. Reading it on the website and hearing actual accounts make it much more real. Thanks for the advice everyone. :D

Everyone has answered your post well. We had our first grand suite last year and have had an owners suite and another grand since. Our next will be in an aft jr. Which we have never done. Looking forward to the anticipated large balcony but I agree with fellow posters I think I have been spoiled. Just want to add one thing, the reserved seating by the pool must be a ship to ship perk because while we had it on Explorer, we did not on Liberty. Have fun!

We just got off the Liberty a few weeks ago and were in a RFS and OS (B2B) and there is reserved seating at the pool area. We used it on our sea days as all the chairs were taken by the pool deck (Chair hogs).

We did the Liberty 2 weeks ago and the only gold card seating, near the pool, was way on top of the sky bar.

Did I miss something closer to the pool:confused:

To the OP Enjoy your first GS, we sure did. SO much so, GF was trying to see if we could book another, for our next cruise:D

You are correct, it was on top of the sky bar but had a great view of the big screen and all the action below. Loved the arrangement.

You will have a Suite check in desk and waiting lounge in the terminal. Your SeaPass cards will be gold colored. Most drinks will be available between 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM at n/c for suite guests in the Concierge Lounge. There is a reserved seating area forward of the pools for suite guests. You will also have reserved seating in theater and ice show.

Here is a link to the full suite benefits:

You do have a check in line for suites only but there isn't a waiting lounge in San Juan. They just have a bunch of chairs set up along the wall but they are for anyone. Or at least that was the way it was last month.

I'll be in my first grand suite next month and I'm just curious about a few things.. I'm. On adventure out of San Juan. When checking in, do we get to go to a special area? Are our seapass cards different looking? The conceirage lounge, can we get almost any mixed drink? I believe I saw adventure has a special area by the pool for suite guests? What about luggage tags, do they still send the tags in the mail for suite guests? What else special can I expect?

Enjoy it.

I don't think anyone mentioned my favorite feature -- being able to order room service from the dining room menu instead of an abbreviated menu. We don't do it much for dinner, but it's quite nice to have Eggs Benedict (or other hot breakfast) on the balcony every morning... the view cannot be beat. :)

other days on Explorer which is also a Voyager Class ship we received cheese plate, chocolate covered strawberries - H'dorves - something was delivered everyday

You also can order enhanced room service or direct from the Main Dining room during dining hours

Oh and sit down breakfast served in Portofino's!

We were escorted off the ship for disembark - which was great!

You will love your GS!

Our first Royal Caribbean cruise in a Grand Suite is a mere two weeks from today and I can barely contain myself. So excited to read about all of these little extra goodies floating around on the Explorer, counting the hours till we board. :D

We are on Adventure in March our first time with RCCL and our first Owners Suite for our 10th anniversary--I am even more excited now! Thanks to everyone for adding to it!!!!

We were in OS1600 on the Adventure for our December cruise. It was very nice. We loved having both a jetted tub and a separate shower stall. The balcony was very nice, too.

You might enjoy seeing pictures my wife took and made into a slide show for her website. Just click on the link below.

Happy cruising!

My favorite part of being in a GS, too! We always order right before we go to bed for whatever time we want to get up the next morning and use the phone call from room service telling us they are on their way as our wake up call. We love eating on our balcony wearing our PJs and the robes provided in the GS. We have ordered dinner a few times and lunch once, but breakfast is a daily event for us. The room service attendant on Liberty knew our order after a few days and would ask if we want our "usual" before we could order. :)

We did IOS 8 day in Feb 2013 and the only gold card seating was on top of the sky bar with none closer to the pool. We repeated the 8 day in Oct 2013 and there was both - On top of sky bar and the stadium seating just below the sky bar. Go figure!

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you for finding this for me! When we board, are the suites typically open right away to put any carry on's in the room or is it still 1o'clock? And for breakfast we can use Portofino's if we can't find seating in the Windjammer, what about lunch? Can we go in there as well?

Suites open at the same time as the other staterooms.

Thank you so much for starting this thread! We, too, will be in our first OS next summer, and reading this sure adds to the excitement!

I'm wondering something about the Concierge Lounge.....Do people tend to sit and enjoy a couple of cocktails in the lounge, or is it ok to take it back to your cabin to enjoy on the balcony?

Thanks, again. Sure hope you get lots more opinions and advice about your first suite! Enjoy it, and I'm sure it's hard to go back to a regular cabin after enjoying a suite!

The cocktails are intended to be consumed in the Concierge Lounge.

That's a great question! I'm curious to this as well. Since myself and my girlfriend are typically quiet and reserved and keep to ourselves for the most part around people we don't know

Your welcome. I can't add anything that others haven't other than we've always enjoyed Grand Suites. Have a blast. ;)

This will be our second GS on the explorer and yes it is hard to go back to a regular room once you been in one. Sitting in portofino for breakfast is the best, the pool seating is great not having to find a seat, CL for a before and after dinner cocktail is nice. And all the little things that come with the room, 21 days till we are there, and enjoy yours too.

Just back from a Grand Suite on Adventure and I'm doomed. A regular balcony is going to seem like a closet after that! I practically lived in the lounge chair on the balcony. It was the most painless de-embarkment ever, too. Continental breakfast in Portofino and the Concierge escorted us to the gangplank. Easy to find our bags, too, since they were in a very small group. I think the whole process took about 20 minutes, and we were super-early for our flights. Not that I'm complaining. But it's hard to go back to being a regular human today, after being treated so well. :)
