Royal Caribbean bucket list!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've read a few posts recently about things people hope to do someday...so thought I would post my Royal Caribbean bucket list. Please share yours and if anyone is reading that have completed something off someone's bucket list, tell us about it a little so we can day dream some more!!!

* A Trans Atlantic - hoping to do this next year! Would be lovely to enjoy the ship once my body has adjusted and I've found my sea legs!

* To tick off each ship on the list!

* To book the most expensive stateroom aboard...and not have to re-mortgage my house in order to do it! (though I guess that may involve fulfilling one of my on land bucket list items of my business doing fantastic...or winning the lottery!)

* To do another B2B and appreciate it this time, did one as a teenager but hoping to take my family on one some time!

* Meet the captain! I'm sure there are LOTS that have done this but I'm not one of them...yet!

I realise that my items seem quite materialistic, but I look for and achieve those other special moments wherever and whenever I can...the above is just my to do list I hope to achieve before I take my last cruise!

I'm sure that my list I'll change and grow over the years...or maybe after reading some of your replies :)

. Milford Sound in New Zealand.

. Panama Canal (Get to see more scenery than the TA).

. Round Cape Horn.

. Unfortunately RCI doesn't do it at the moment but South America to Australia without going via Hawaii. (Look at the islands that you visit).

. Alaska.

1. Back-to-Back. (Actually doing this in September!)

2. Freedom of the Seas (see 1)

3. Allure or Oasis (or both!)

4. Sail on a Radiance class ship (because people here really seem to like that class)

5. A southern Caribbean itinerary sailing from San Juan.

6. Mediterranean!

Jules815, fellow Chicagoan here. How about that winter we just had?! Yikes!

We did the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan on the Jewel last July. Flew American out of O'Hare. The flights were $535 pp but when I checked about a month before leaving they were like $800! We stayed at the San Juan Marriott Stellaris Casino & it was the BEST way to start our vacation. Walked out on to the beach so my daughter & little cousin could go in the ocean. Ate in their resort restaurant for dinner & breakfast buffet the next morning. Very good.

The Southern Caribbean was everything I thought it would be & more. Beautiful islands. We did a ship sponsored excursion every day except St. Croix where we went to Sandcastle Beach. It was like having a small private resort to ourselves. If you can try to do this itinerary. You will have a wonderful time.

That sounds wonderful! And I'd cover two items on my bucket list in one cruise.

Worst Winter EVER! And I'm a pet sitter/dog walker. You'll note I don't have Alaska on my list! And while I know an Alaskan cruise can't be compared to a Chicago winter, if I'm going on a vacation, I want to be able to wear shorts and a bathing suit, and smell the aroma of suntan lotion! (I have a Yankee candle that smells like Coppertone!) Steel drum music while sipping a margarita. I want to go NOW!

-Trans-atlantic

-Panama Canal

- Baltic- I want to sail to Finland

Then- I'd love to cruise as transportation. So take a TA to Europe, spend some time there, and take another back. That's my dream.

Hi Jenni. I share a lot of these items on my cruising bucket list. Although, meeting the captain is pretty easy. One of the formal nights is always meet the captain and you can get your picture taken with him or her.

I could just never bring myself to book a really expensive room. Mostly because many of the expensive rooms are such because they hold a large number of people. I'd also rather spend the money on some good wine and eat in a different specialty restaurant every night. (There's a bucket item for me!)

I've done all these except the Southern Caribbean and I would say you have a great list. I love the Oasis and Allure and Freedom and for my money the Med cruises are the absolute best.

We have done two TAs on Royal and loved them. It was on these TAs that we booked the Owners Suite. Not the most expensive, but Number 2 :D And we didn't have to mortgage. Just make sure you book the day that the sailing is made available and you can get a good deal. Honestly, we paid less on a per night basis than we did for a regular balcony on some Caribbean sailings

And, I realize it depends on the captain, but sailing in an OS helped us meet him as he came on the bridge to help give the Bridge tour.

Doing the TA should help you knock off several of your items at one time :)

It will be a long time before I can do one of these, because I will have to be retired. But, I want to do one of those 90+ day World Circumnavigations where you actually do a full circle of earth.

Royal does not do any of these so I know it is going to have to be on another cruise line.

My first goal was to sail on every class ship Royal has, and I've now done this, as of last month.

So my new goals for the bucket list:

1. Get to visit the bridge on any ship.

2. Sail on a T.A. sailing (any ship/port will do)

3. Reach Pinnacle by the time I retire. (currently 29)

4. Sail on the Freedom of The Seas. (gotta happen one of these days)

5. Complete a true B2B sailing. (mine was 3 day/4 day)

6. Get invited to the captains table for dinner.

7. Get invited to a 2 night pre-sailing of a brand new ship. (keeping my fingers crossed for Quantum & I have a weird feelings I might get invited for this ship)

Oh, they should definitely invite you. :)

I still need to sail on Vision class and Freedom class, but for some reason I keep ending up on Radiance class :D

I want to do the TA from Harwich to Boston. I suppose by the time I can afford it, and have the time, Royal will change up its itineraries again :(

-Norwegian Fjords. With any luck, I'll have this booked for our big 2015 trip

-Bermuda

-NE/Canada

-Pacific Coastal

-Southern Caribbean

-Panama Transit

-Transatlantic crossing

Of course, I have to have my fill of regular Caribbean cruises, preferably one per year with the bucket items in between.

On an unrelated note, I see in your signature you had a B2B before you signed up for C&A. You can call them and they will add it into your account. I don't think it was too long ago for their records, but if it was, if you can find anything as proof, they'll add it (like your sea pass card, onboard photo of you on the ship, etc.). That would make you platinum for your next cruise :)

  • Do a B2B - to be accomplished this fall!
  • Australia/New Zealand - in the early planning stages for 2015
  • a river cruise - OK, not RCI, but . . .
  • Diamond Plus - a couple of cruises away, so possible - forget Pinnacle!
  • an invitation to the Captain's Table would be nice

My bucket list is most of what others have said that I haven't done yet. But a few are :

B2b

Fjords and Northern Capitals

Greek Isles

Alaska (leave in 3 weeks on Rhapsody)

Panama Canal

Any Radiance Class ship (only class never on in 18 cruises with RCI)

Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific

Royal Suite

Owners Suite

As for your list, only thing I've missed is B2B and Radiance class.

Do a TA! Fantastic. We did Vision for 14 nights. Were in a GS for a great price! Worth the extra room as we were a group of 8 and would gather in there on at sea days. Plus cabins are cheaper on TA's.

If you are flexible on travel you can find a high priced suite for a reasonable price. We booked a Crown Loft (L-1) on Oasis last Sep. for the price of a balcony. It was $1649 per person and we also got the D+ discount. Booked it 3 weeks out, so you need to be able to cruise in the off season at the last minute (we really had a JS booked for the cruise and was able to upgrade for only $300 total). But if you price CL's you'll see what a great deal that was. One we just couldn't pass up. Oh... it was FANTASTIC!!!!!

Have had dinner with the Captain on 3 cruises. It's a very nice experience. A separate menu, free wine, and on Legend last Feb. we met in the R Bar and were comped a round of drinks before dinner. The Captains we ate with were all very nice and genuine. They have led interesting lives and it always makes for great conversation. No formula for getting invited. The first time was in 2000 and it was because we were a "fun group" (according to his assistant), and he liked having one dinner with "fun groups." The second time was in 2012 on Vision (the TA). The Captain was very visible and really a great guy. We were a group of 8 and we guys had "flamingo ties" on for the Captain reception. He asked about our ties, we told him a bit of background and someone jokingly said we'd like to have dinner with him. The night before the last Formal Night he personally came to the Diamond Event to seek us out and issue the invitation! Go figure.

The last cruise (Feb), we got to know the Dining Room Manager very well. He took a liking to us and set it up. One piece of advice. If you aren't into dressing up for Formal Night, or wear T-shirts and jeans to dinner, you'll likely not get invited. It seems, at least in my experience, everyone who I've seen have dinner with the Captain have been dressed in Formal Attire. Just my observation.

Great thread. Good luck with the bucket lists. It's sure a fun goal!
