Breaking News - C&A Changes/Enhancements

Recommended Posts

If it were just the free drinks perks, we would simply go to any lounge with our

vouchers...or even just enjoy our own wine on our balcony.

We are ones that love to talk with those like minded people (birds of a feather),

as we all enjoy that same love of cruising and love to share stories.

And I do love my Latte from the CL/DL coffee machine...as long as it is working.

Hmmm...Bucky thinks we should all have a nightly "meet and mingle" in a lounge of

choice at happy hour time, if it needs to come to that. Then watch pax complain about

those darned C&A upper tier people taking over "their" favorite lounge! :p

As most here know, I am very quiet and shy, so would love to have the bar servers just bring my three drinks to my cabin.;)

John, LaLa, Pat and Bucky......if they kick us out, we'll find some other lounge for conversation.:D

Carden.....is on the same TA as me next week.....sounds as if we may be having another overflowing diamond lounge, like the one I just visited on Liberty 4/3-4/17.:( I booked the Brilliance because I really enjoyed the Concierge lounge in January!

Given the cruise lines have staff reading these boards, people really should be careful about what they suggest here, or the suggestions will indeed come to pass - although probably not the five vouchers daily though!

I agree. Back in October of 2015, I started a thread asking about what perks people wanted to see added to Crown and Anchor levels. The one that won out was a percentage discount for drink packages based on ones' tier. We now are now starting to see that aboard many ships.

Actually was looking at the Norwegian Escape for my next cruise.....may need to check out MSC, if they give many perks for my RCI points. RCI for the week I want is way too expensive! :( If all the loyal to Royal's go somewhere else with our money for six months, maybe they would have a tough time filling all their ships, and come to their senses. I was hoping to reach Pinnacle Club by the end of the year, but not paying double prices to get kicked out of lounges.

Yup, I totally agree Kay! You "quiet and shy girl" :p

We will find a way! :D

But I sure would love those specialty coffee vouchers loaded in as well! ;)

But nobody goes for the cocktails according to what I read. They just want a place to mingle with like minded folks. ;)

Oh, and the coffee.

This is what I am reading also, the main argument so far has nothing to do with free drinks at all. So basically all we want is a daily "Meet & Mingle" of like-minded top-tier cruises in a designated venue where it's easy to find and everyone knows about so everyone knows to meet at that spot.

How is this different from the old days of ships without lounges when the nightly Diamond event was offered?

600+ posts on a rumor. Too damn funny!

I may as well add one more:D

How about reducing cocktails to two hours?

I was just offering up a new rumor. Besides it was already mentioned.

We usually only go for 45 minutes as it is. Rarely make the return after dinner. Cuts into Laura's casino time. ;)

Did you ever receive your block from Serenade?

Nope. LA was full of crap on that one. :(

But....no matter. We actually did not have one from beloved Enchantment yet, which

was our next scheduled cruise. So the LA on board the Enchantment really did it right

with presentation at the upper tier welcome back, a beautiful fold out framed picture

with certificate that was taken with ourselves, the captain, and herself. Felt really

special...unlike the snub we felt on Serenade.

Ironically it looks like we are due for our next block...on Serenade again.

Think I might take the printed info from RCI website stating getting your block on

"the ship you make the milestone" along with my printed points from website.

Wonder what she will say about that??!! ;)

I'm there for the drinks.

Have met many nice people and enjoyed talking with them along the way; but I go for the drinks.

Our Freedom cabin this August is right by the Sky Bar.

I've read about those new deck 12 cabins having vibration, so you will get complimentary massage in bed.

During our morning walk on life boat deck, we round the bow near the helicopter

pad. We glance up and wave to the camera and the bridge crew. Often see sleepy

pax in those deck 12 panoramic cabins open their curtains wide to the view...in various

manners of dress/undress.

Heads up John...the world may be watching. :D

If the cabins rockin, don't come a knockin.

Actually, I just wanted an easy route to commandeer a lounger for the balcony. :D

Add us to this and to be honest it does not matter where we get them. Find ourselves using the coupons more than the lounges.

Typically too many cliques and windbags in the lounges but hey that is what many seem to enjoy.

I know some will not want to read this so go away now if it offends you. We only sometimes cruise in a full suite but always go to the CL. Believe it or not, the concierge depends on tips for a living so we always tip him/her as if we were in a suite. Trust me, after a few cruises the concierges like having us in their lounge just as much as having full suite guests. Honestly ask your selves do you honestly think he/she really cares how much you gave Royal for your room or do you think he/she cares who much you give them?

We tip the servers nightly and Concierge at end of cruise.

I like the idea of making the vouchers good any time of day for use (if they kick D's out of lounge). Also like the idea of upping to 5 a day because we did get specialty coffee in mornings in the lounge. We can negotiate it down from 5 to 4, up from 3 ;)

Have never had a concierge I was really impressed with; honestly find most to be glad handlers that insert themselves into trivially simple processes in seek of money and not really problem solvers or magic makers. Do feel bad the servers will likely lose out on a lot of cash tips if D's are ousted.

Regardless of WHEN changes come, or WHAT changes come, I am expecting there to be cutbacks for all but Pinnacles. I do not foresee net gains.

Perhaps it would be useful if there was a confirmed list where a ship gave someone a discount on a beverage package based on status. I'm on Allure very soon and they are offering 20% off for everyone but that isn't enough for me to consider it given my D+ benefits. I think the 40% that has been mentioned and verified on a ship or two would put me in the range of strongly considering it. I would love to know if anyone recently got a discount based on C&A status.

Below is a list. If anyone has confirmation put a yes next to the ship name.

Adventure

Allure

Anthem

Brilliance

Enchantment

Explorer

Freedom

Grandeur

Independence

Jewel

Legend

Liberty

Majesty

Mariner

Navigator

Oasis

Quantum

Radiance

Rhapsody

Serenade

Splendor

Vision

Voyager

Bob you would assume Royal would want the same policy for the Ovation to China cruise departing England 3 May.

What will they do about Independence TA departing 1 May?

I'll be on the 3rd May sailing and happy to report back here. Perhaps someone should create a new thread 'It's May 1st and this is what's happening in the CL on (insert ship name)' :)
