pullen0 Posted September 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Registering online for my Celebrity cruise and it's asking for passport city of issue. Is this where I applied for it? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
theriac Posted September 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2016 It usually means United States State Department unless you went to one of the offices that can issue you a passport in person. It will say this at the bottom right of the information page.

theriac Posted September 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2016 No the Info on the passport info page. If you did it that way, it will most likely say United States State Department where it says "issued by" and that is what Celebrity wants.
pullen0 Posted September 8, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted September 8, 2016 I went to change the City of Issue to United States Department of State and it will only allow enough characters for United State. Then when I go to look up my wife and daughters immigration documentation, I'm only seeing country of birth, document type and citizenship. Nowhere to edit the passport info when I'm sure I've already entered it all for them.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted September 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2016 No where on my Passport does it indicate a City, only a State. I'm sure I just enter Pittsburgh which is the city I lived in, and still do, when my passport was applied for.
Oville Posted September 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) I would put the city and state you received your passports in. Edited September 8, 2016 by Oville

Cruisercl Posted September 9, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2016 I typed in New Orleans, LA..It was listed on my old passport before I got it renewed. I did the same thing and listed the city that was on my old passport. My current one (2014) does not have a city listed. Maybe this is something Celebrity needs to update on their profile pages since it is no longer on Passport in the USA.....is it only the USA? 2theship Posted September 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2016 It's referring to what's listed under "Authority" in the bottom right corner. I think our earlier passports listed a city but our passports issued nearly nine years ago say United States Department of State. I believe I usually abbreviate it to US Dept of State or maybe just Dept of State.

RickT Posted September 9, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 9, 2016 Not that it matters, but Canadian Passports do list the city the passport was issued from.
montekat Posted September 9, 2016 #14 Share Posted September 9, 2016 My first passport was issued in Philadelphia. Now it just says Dept. of State so I put Dept of State, never had a problem with that.

starcyl Posted September 10, 2016 #20 Share Posted September 10, 2016 If you look at your passport down the page near the date there should be a note that says something like authority and underneath that there will be a code on my UK passport it is IPS. This is what the cruise line is looking for when it ask for place of issue.
FreestyleNovice Posted September 10, 2016 #21 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Nope, we don't have a city on UK passports either. Not that it matters, but Canadian Passports do list the city the passport was issued from. Dutch passports also list a city/township of issue. DZalumni Posted September 10, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 10, 2016 They want to know which agency issued it. Even though we have an agency in my home town, ours always come from Seattle unless you applied in person. Here are the passport centers. https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/where-to-apply/agencies.html
kitty9 Posted September 11, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 11, 2016 On my passport it says National Passport Agency.
Rare broberts Posted September 11, 2016 #24 Share Posted September 11, 2016 Not that it matters, but Canadian Passports do list the city the passport was issued from. It does not necessarily list a city. My last 3 passports under "Issuing Authority" list "North York", which has not been a city for some 18 years. It is, however, the name of the passport office location where the application was processed.
