Smoking in Brilliance casino

We’ve sailed on the Brilliance several times, including a repo and a TA, and each time the casino was half smoking and half non smoking. In March of this year, there was some kind of casino tournament for the entire cruise and the whole casino allowed smoking. Just off the Brilliance yesterday, and am sorry to say that all but one small rear area of old slots allows smoking. It reeks in there, despite what I assume are their best efforts to filter the air. Please don’t flame me, as of course I know that we all have rights, etc., but at least half of the casino should be a non smoking area. A complaint to the casino manager was met with indifference, but I’ll mention it on my comment form. At any rate, we gambled a lot less than normal due to the very smoky conditions.

What’s the situation on the Oasis and Rhapsody re smoking in the casino?

Same on Jewel recently. It's laughable that they have a non-smoking 'half' as if the smoke stays in one half . The casino on Radiance class is just a smoking room with a nice bar right in the middle, perfect to sit and smoke at. They even had a note in the Compass that the casino would be a non-smoking zone on the formal nights - not a chance, no-one bothered to police this.

Yes!!! we were on the BOS at the same time....the smoking was bad...lots of people just sitting at a slot maching, smoking...and watching people play the tables. No one seemed to moniter the non smoking section..nor did they care to. Very annoying

The "non-smoking section" of one big room is a misnomer. The smoke still drifts. The ventilation is not sufficient, especially since the smoking policy was updated a few years ago and more people now smoke inside the casino (which they are permitted to do - I am not challenging that). No changes were made to the ventilation systems, hence the unbelievably bad smokescreen in there.

Yup ! The casino was an indoor smoking lounge even when closed. The smoke literally drifts up and down a floor or two through the Centrum. Maybe two casinos is the answer....as if that would ever happen.

Having a non-smoking section in the casino is like having a non-peeing section in the swimming pool.;p

Just off the Oasis and the casino was horrible. So many smokers and same tiny area in the back for non smokers. It really is a smoking lounge, many people just sitting by the slots smoking.

I do not understand this. On the September 17th sailing, the entire port side of the casino was non smoking, in addition to the entire bar area in the middle! So, more than half was non smoking.

Yes but the smoke did not stay on the non-smoking side. ;p Unless you are just being sarcastic in which case the use of smiley faces is always helpful. :D:D:D

Casinos love smokers.

If you are compulsive enough to undertake a pastime that statistically will kill you then you are the sort of person who will undertake a pastime that statistically will see you parted from your money.

Sensible complaining types about wafting smoke and poor ventilation probably arent the the sort of person who would then recklessly drop $2k on roulette in an afternoon.

Not saying it’s right but knowing Royal I am guessing that’s how we are all profiled.

I was not being sarcastic, I was responding to someone who said the non smoking area, on Oasis was "same tiny area in the back" when It was actually more than half the casino.

I was not aware any ship except OA class had a "no -smoking side". Even on the larger ships the smoke still travels. Plus they put the better slots on the smoking side.

We always "enjoyed" the ships that had non-smoking on formal night. Unfortunately, they quit that a few y aes ago.

A very reliable source told me that RC has considered going non-smoking in the casino but they are not willing to take the 18-month hit to the income at the moment. They know people will get used to it and the income will come back but have to find a timeframe where they are willing to have that adjustment to the income.

I realize it is not the case for everyone, but they would get much more of our money if it were non-smoking. We can't stand to be in there more than 5 minutes due to the smoke.

We were on the Radiance Alaska cruise in early June of this year. The weather was cold and rainy most of the cruise, so all the smokers sat in the casino and smoked all day. The whole Centrum and even upper floors were choking with smoke.

Pretty much ruined my desire to board another Radiance class ship.

I hope my upcoming Vision cruises are not the same.

I personally think the smoke smell has gotten worse since they changed the policy with balcony smoking and reducing the smoking permitted areas on the ship. I think I just makes the people that would have smoked elsewhere come to the casino to hangout and smoke.

RC needs to follow Celebrity's lead and due away with no smoking in the casino. Maybe someday. Glad the no smoking on the balcony was implemented on both RC and Celebrity.
