Is this just lip service from RCI CEO?

Anything that taste's as good as it looks....Celebrity did a very good job at this....RCI just can't seem to get it right...even the hot apple pie in JR's has changed for the worst....:eek:
Sorry, that's not an example of a dessert on Celebrity. I agree on the pie. Crust is warm, but not the filling

You think that Michael Bayley is eating the pizza? 😳😉😄

Likely not!

My point is, everything for the cruise should be perfect, and even the cruise before for those who are on B2B. I am sure the company does not want to leave anything to chance for passengers to complain to Mr. Bayley.

I compare it to visitation at camp. Many years ago my children went to overnight camp for a month. The night before parents day visitation, they always served the kids steak for dinner. That way, when we asked “what did you have for dinner last night” the answer could be “steak”!

It seems like those on the cruise are having a wonderful time.

It was just as good the previous week.

Your previous cruise was likely to be a “presidents cruise in training” especially for those who are on B2B.

I’m sure you will have many opportunities to sail on Harmony when she is docked in Port Canaveral. I would like to know your thoughts on how the service and food from this particular cruise compare an ordinary harmony cruise. I’m not talking about the gifts and the parties, I’m just talking about the quality of the food and service.

Continue to enjoy

Just saw this on the Royal Caribbean blog. Gonna post a link but I guess you can't post links? Is that true? Anyway the CEO had a question and answer session. It all sounds great but like I said do you think it's lip service?Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

We were on the President's cruise a couple of years ago and Michael Bayley came to the Meet and Mingle. He spent quite a bit of time there answering questions. Probably the first question was about making the casino smoke-free. He said that RCI was "looking into it". I call that corporate speak for "no". I'm guessing that some changes will happen, like better pizza, but others will fall in to the company is still "looking into it" category.

I've never had a great tasting slice of pizza on any cruise. I don't eat many desserts, but after waiter found out it was my birthday last year on Allure at the Pinnacle lunch, he brought me a huge slice of cheesecake on a decorated plate. It was to die for!!! If I ate many of those on any cruise, I'd put on the pounds. My husband likes rum raisin ice cream on Celebrity. Celebrity definitely has Royal beat on ice cream always, not just occasionally. IMHO, I really like Celebrity buffet and MDR food much more than Royal's, but I can always find something tasty at Windjammer, too. Now, Coastal Kitchen is a very nice food venue for breakfast, lunch and some dinners on Royal for PC and Suite guests. Blu and Luminae on Celebrity for Suite guests. Some meals in Coastal Kitchen and some in Blu, I haven't enjoyed at all, but there are many other choices on where to dine on nights we don't like the menu, either cruise line.

I don't recall which Royal ship, but one did have crepe station set up several times in the Solarium. I'm thinking it was either Vision or Brilliance. They were very good.:D

That was Radiance class, and we also enjoyed those crepes on Serenade.:)

This brings up a question I have. How much leeway does a ship have to mix things up, or change things or do their own thing with food? I would think if there is any it would be in the windjammer but what do you think?

The ship has some limited leeway. One example I remember was from Explorer a few years ago. They offered the Kummelweck (roast beef) sandwich, on the Royal Promenade, right outside of Cafe Promenade. This is something that is normally limited to Park Cafe venues, which are not on Voyager/Freedom class ships.

Nice answer, thanks for the info.

The part about the pizza and desserts improving. I mean they must know everyone complains about the food not being as good as it used to be. Seems like if they wanted it to improve they basically could very quickly. It shouldn't take time for the pizza to improve. I don't know but something about that seemed like lip service.

Hi. We just got off the Serenade of the Seas this past Sunday. The pizza was as good as we have ever had on any line, and we've been on Premier, Carnival, Princess, Holland, Celebrity, Disney, and other RCI ships. It was very good, and our desserts in the main dining room were excellent.

Yeah, but 90% of people always give everything a 10, so you have to drop the 9 and multiply by 10.

Then maybe RCI shouldn't make us feel bad for giving less than 10 since we know someone's going to get in trouble if we hand out a 9. Punishing your workers for not always getting a perfect is stupid for a number of reasons, chief among them killing morale, and skewing your own statistics to the point of uselessness.

I love the food on RCI all the way around. I am looking forward to Anthem a second time because of the food partially. I should have said that in my first post. I corrected in a later post. I'm just saying most complaints from other people is the food. I loved the windjammer on Anthem by the way, loved it.

Happy to hear that. We will be on the Serenade in 3 weeks.

The numbers are useless no matter what you give. Your 5 might be my 7. Someone else's 4 might be another's 2. Numerical grades, without an objective standard are meaningless.

I guarantee that they aren't looking at the numerical value of any grade as having any meaning. More probably, Apparently, 10 is a pass and all other grades are fail. The approval rating they tout are simply that pass or fail grades. How do you determine that a key lime pie is an 9 and the pecan pie is a 6. What is the standard for pecan pie? What if you have never had my grandmothers pecan pie? How can you even think of giving it a 10 when Gran made hers so much better? Food is subjective and the grades are mostly meaningless. So many other things go into the overall grading process. A bad experience on the pool deck in the afternoon can cloud your judgement in MDR that evening.

The desserts seem to have too much gelatin in them...making them taste like “fluff and mush.” Even the chocolate desserts don’t taste chocolatey. I guess in a way that is good so that we don’t pack on the pounds:)
