And yet the ketchup and mustard are still in those little plastic packets. Go figure.

Because the environmental geeks went crazy on straws, and did not consider anything else.

Not quite. Heinz is in the process of overhauling all of their single serve packaging. Straws already had viable replacement options available.

so no straws for frozen drinks?

Not on our New Years Navigator cruise.

I got a couple of frozen drinks. By the time they handed them to me, the end of the straws had completely plugged themselves closed.

YUCK.  I was in Florida on vacation last May and all the bars there had already switched to paper straws. They are awful. I will be bringing a stash of my own straws on NOS this May....

So you cannot bring a few plastic straws on board? Had planned on doing that for kids.

Who said you cannot bring plastic straws?

If so, how would they even know if you did?

What are they going to do, rip it out of your drink?

Think it though...…..

Someone joked about bringing a large pack of straws and having them confiscated from your luggage. Since I haven’t been following I did not know if this was a real thing or a joke.

  • 4 weeks later...

We had several drink on our cruise last week.    We were given a straw with each  tall or frozen drink. Never even asked.    Had several frozen drinks and had no problem using the paper type straw.  Sorry don't understand the big deal with the paper straws or why the cruise line  cares if you want to  bother bringing some plastic  straws.

I would  hate to get a drink and then run back to the cabin to get a plastic straw.  Or,  plan my drinking around my straw availability, or carry some straws  with me, or wash out  the metal straws!

Yikes......
