It’s too late now, we would lose most of our money as our cruise is in less than 70 days. We loved Central Park, Vintages, the entertainment, and speciality restaurants. We did not care so much for the crowded, loud pool decks. And our children are grown. We will be traveling alone, celebrating our anniversary.

Summit has had a recent reno so much of the ship will be refreshed. But it will not be like Oasis with big malls and Central Park and lots of hoopla!

It may  well be more sedate...less lively in the evening , and not  very much like Royal C.;  but cruising  to Bermuda for your anniversary  will be so romantic.   Dont forget to kiss under a Moongate for good luck!

Lots of  fun things to do there! We like the Frog and Onion right in the port.  Good food and drink and music!

You can go to the  CC port board for Bermuda and get some other ideas for day and night activties!

Celebrity's martini bars are quite lively, and usually there is a dj and dance music for a period of time in the evenings. I've been very entertained by a few of the guest performers on my 7 past Celebrity cruises. Also, the production shows are OK , just nothing like Mama Mia, Grease, or Hairspray on RCI.  On a good note, Celebrity has partnered with American Ballet Theater and now has limited performances on select ships and sailings. Unfortunately for me, none of my upcoming cruises have been scheduled for an ABT performance. I hope  to get lucky on this someday. There have been some very interesting guest speakers and presentations on my cruises. These are in the daytime, however. But look for them in the daily. You might find something interesting to you..

OP is sailing on Summit, which is the older M-Class ship.  The S-Class ships have more to do (more restaurants, more lounges, more space for things like pop-up events/bands).  They are different experiences, and neither of them rival what RCCL offers in terms of liveliness.

I personally love the M-Class experience, but the OP should be aware of the situation in order to set expectations.  It's an older, smaller ship that offers a more traditional cruising experience.  The evening entertainment will usually be limited to the shows on the mainstage (which vary in quality, many of which are frankly ill-conceived); music in one or two of the lounges (house band in the the Rendezvous Lounge & DJ at the Martini Bar, for example), a game show in the Sky Lounge with a late-night dancing event in the same place (mix of live music & DJ), and the casino.  There may also be something like a guitarist in Cellar Masters.  Sometimes they do karaoke.  Celebrity cut way back on their entertainment staff several years ago, and it shows.

Some of the best entertainment we have had has been on NCL. Broadway shows like Rock of Ages, A Cirque de Soleil type show with dinner, fantastic comedians...I don't find Celebrity to excel in this department and other than some good live music occasionally there is not a lot to do at night. Silent disco and sometimes movies on the aft are about it other than maybe a game show thing which we have never been to. We wear ourselves out in port and don't worry too much about night activities.

The closer we get to our date, the scarier it gets with regards to evening entertainment.

A friend of mine mentioned that outside ocean view there was a lineup of wheelchair, like an old age home. They can hardly converse because all these oldies gave them the “look”.

If there is not enough entertainment, we have to entertain ourselves, but that could get noisy.😳🥴. They might put us in a naughty room, facing the wall😩

That is what I was getting worried about. Lol When we sailed on Princess that’s how I felt. It didn’t help that we were seated at an 8 top, we were in our 40’s at the time, and everyone else was our parents age.   They were very nice, but we also wanted to hang out with some couples closer to our own age.

I will miss not having a comedy club. We always looked forward to that. We also very much enjoy live music and shows (well I enjoy the shows, dh just comes along to make me happy. ☺️), so I’m sure we will find plenty to keep us entertained.

Princess was our least favorite at night, so hoping Celebrity will have better entertainment. It was also an older ship and kind of worn out looking, although the pool deck was very relaxing. However, we paid extra to be on that deck.

Season matters! Size matters 🙂

We cruised on Princess since we were 33-34 with with 14  years old .. and in the Summer in Caribbeans there were always plenty of young folks.. Our last cruise on Royal Princess was for New Year. There were amazing celebrations, dancing etc.

Princess (depending on the ship) has nice smaller scale entertainment is smaller lounges and decent shows in theater.

Celebrity will not have more active entertainment than Princess. If you like comedy... well you cannot call it a comedy, but try to attend Liar's Club. It is hilarious! (At least it was hilarious with Captain Leo last time on Summit)

However Celebrity and X cannot compare to RCCL and especially to NCL in this regard. Last two spend much more $$ for entertainment and less for service and food.

Celebrity has other "pros" though.

During the day I’m using by the pool reading a book and soaking up the sun.

We are thinking of taking our first X cruise and this info is so helpful. I'm 55 and my husband is 57 so I don't think we are too old (hahaha). We have always cruised on Disney (no kids) but we are wanting to try something new. We are not into the "party" boat but would like something relaxing and at a a much lower noise level. This is sounding better for us!

If you loved Oasis, I doubt you'll care much for Celebrity. You might want to re-think your plans. We are Pinnacle on RCI and have sailed Oasis class ships 3 times. As we have gotten older and don't travel with kids, we much prefer the more elegant ships and laid back atmosphere of Celebrity.

We loved Allure (which is a sister to Oasis) .. and other RCCL large ships, we also love Celebrity ships.

Different reasons.

That’s disappointing to hear. So what do people do at night on Celebrity?

We are not late nighters 🙂 as I exercise at 6 am daily, but from what I remember we liked guitarist in Sunset (aft) bar. We like overall shows in theater too.

One of the reasons we chose Celebrity was they seemed a more 'adult orientated' cruise liner

while we did see kids on our cruise last year, there were not a lot of them and the ones we did see seemed to be well behaved - and the last thing we wanted on a 12 day cruise was screaming kids everywhere!

We were surprised though at the amount of people boarding the cruise with zimmer frames, walking sticks, wheelchairs / mobility scooters..... but we had a fantastic cruise and have booked 2 further cruises with Celebrity.

they had music playing throughout the ship in different venues - they had a 'house band' which was a full band and they played in 2-3 different locations as well as a solo guitarist / singer, String Duo and jazz type band. We felt the house band were a bit loud at times but otherwise all ok

we had 2 comedians and 1 impressionist on our cruise - as well as the celebrity shows

They are in bed because what they use to be able to do all night now takes all night to do.  🥰😜😍

Don’t worry about what others do.  Take the cruise and you  may be surprised that is better than your perception.

Compare it to  Vegas if you ever been there.   Do you like the Belaggio, Venetian, and Wynn, or Circus Circus,  Excalibur, and Downtown.   If you like the later than you won’t like X.

On X you are treated like a adult and not a wanna be spring breaker.  It is promoted as Modern Luxury (debatable about what that is) and not the Fun Ship.  It depends on your idea of what you want in a cruise.   A nice relaxing experience for adults or a go go go need to be entertained all the time  with constant reminders to do so?

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Never been to Vegas, not my style at all.  I like to relax by the pool during the day, eat a nice dinner, and then find something to entertain us, such as live music, a show, or a comedian.  Since we are cruising to Bermuda, we may spend our evenings on the island instead of the ship.  Never been there either, so I don't know.

I agree with a lot of the comments from other Celebrity guests. We have only been on a few cruises. Our first one was during the summer in the Med. a couple years ago.....and there were A LOT of KIDS and families (a bit too many since the pools were always full of kids). It was the best vacation I ever had though. We had another Celebrity cruise to the ABC Islands -- and it was the more elderly crowd and a very different vibe from the Med. cruise we took. We concentrate mostly on itinerary, but did notice the lack of "life" in the entertainment. It was OK, but could have been much better. But......You are going on a Cruise!  🙂  🙂  In my opinion -- that combined with a land vacation is The Best of both worlds!  🙂

There are a few bars near the port that are jumping during the evening.  Problem is they are expensive.   Everything cost more there.  Why spend for something you already paid for if you already have a drink pack?  You can get a Dark and Stormy or Swizzle on board that is already part of your package.  When in Bermuda don’t make the mistake that many do.  The TIP is included in the price and it claims so at the bottom of the receipt  Don’t TIP extra unless you want to add to it.  Many don’t realize it and end up TIPing 40 % . 😱

i think that  you will enjoy X as it will give you the experience you are looking for.  There is always different styles of performers in the lounges,  the flair BTs at the Martini Bar are entertaining,  and usually is a comedian.   The X shows that you need to attend are the Liars Club and Not so Newly wed shows.  They are adult and hilarious.

The Production shows are typical song and dance that some like  and most don’t,   Those that don’t are long time many time cruisers and there are many on X (wonder why?). Same old same old and the shows are about HS level, or could it be that I am  bias and spoiled by our local HS that just produces an exception show? Sorry.    The guest performers are usually  SRO and the encore Matinee performance isn’t for others to see the show as it is always completely different.   Just another option on a sea day.  Why not the performer is on board and can’t get off until the next port.

Book it, enjoy it and I guarantee that you will book another while on board.  (You need to look into it while on board, the benefits are great)   We were hooked as soon as we walked on board and were greeted with the glass of bubbly and then walked into the atrium and said WOW that was after 20 cruises on Carnival that we loved and enjoyed and 15 on Princess.    Haven’t gone back.  Now have 24 on X  most have been over 10 days except for Bermuda cruises.  The other thing to consider is that the Summit is a M Class ship that has been refurbished.   The S Class ships are much nicer and different but both have their charm and we book both.   Don’t judge by one cruise.

Another thing to considered is the passengers.   You are sailing out of NJ and the crowd is different than the passengers out of FL.  🤗.   The residents in both areas use those cruises as cheap vacations and we enjoyed their company and life experiences.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Entertainment on some of our recent celebrity cruise was better than any other cruise we have ever taken , Foreigner, Boz Scaggs, America, Micheal McDonald, B J Thomas etc of course these were music charters. Have this booked again for next year.

We are late 40's.  We love Celebrity but the entertainment is lacking in our opinion .  We only do 9 night plus on Celebrity so the average is is late 50's. We so appreciate the lack of children under 12.  We just went on a Royal cruise and they had to shut the pools down to bathroom accidents and a vomiting episode.

Never saw issue like this in my approx 20 rccl cruises.

We are late 50s and it does depend where the cruise is for age range. Sept Med cruises from the UK we were in youngest 5% but Asia cruise was much younger.

We went on our first M Class in Feb, Milennium which had been "revolutionised", the music around the ships in the various bars from  2 solo guitatists, a classical duo and a swing bar was so good we missed most of the Main Theatre shows. Add to that the Martini Bar which was always rocking and late night in the Cosmos Lounge with the house band dancing and games. We reallly enjoyed and hope to get as good on the Equinox in Sept

Longer cruises - older the cruisers!

We have sailed Celebrity over 25 ( of 60 plus cruises) times during the last 20 years and as we aged so did most of the passengers and the Ships!

On our recent transatlantic on the Edge there were over 90 couples married 50 years or more. Silhouette B2B (9 day & 12 day)in February, was the same demographics with “some younger crowd” and minimal children.

Next month we’re doing Alaska on a Princess ship with our 14 year grandson, and his concern is that he might have 2000 grandparents!!

As has already been posted, destination, length of the cruise and season will determine who has the time and the costs. September to Bermuda is already the no (fewer)children (school) which means fewer school age parents.
