Carnival Breeze

Thinking about booking this ship. How is it what are the pros & cons?

Pros:  It's a beautiful, well maintained ship with a fantastic crew.  It has lots of included in fare food venues.  The Cloud 9 Spa is, in my opinion, the best on Carnival.  Deck 5 goes all the way around the ship offering great views forward and aft.  It has the Thrill Theatre, great for kids around 5-10.

 

It has cove balconies.  Any one of them forward of the midship elevators is a terrific deal.  It's also hard to beat the interior spa cabins on deck 12, or the aft extended balconies on deck 9, or any balcony other than those on deck 6, which I would avoid.

 

Cons:  More passengers per usable square footage than in previous classes makes it more crowded in public areas with longer lines.

 

I love the Breeze.  It's my favorite Dream class ship.  Given a choice at the same homeport, I prefer a Conquest class ship.

It was the first ship I sailed on and I loved it.  At the time it didn't have an Alchemy Bar but it does now and that's a huge plus.  love Fieri burgers, trivia, dive in movies, the Italian specialty restaurant.  live music was solid. 

 

cons: I didn't love the shows.  thought the buffet was adequate.  all in all a great ship!

The most crowded ship I ever been on, been on 91 cruises.

 

Buffet lunch just ok, but the best cakes.

 

If you get a cove balcony make sure it is not under the galley, very noisy.

 

Pools tiny for this size ship.

 

We are booked on the Mardi Gras, definitely considering cancelling after our Breeze experience.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Breeze is all the yellow in the ship.  I think Magic looks much nicer, but that is personal preference. For the reasons already mentioned, I think Dream class ships are Carnival’s best ships. We went on Breeze last month and I never thought the ship felt crowded, although we never ate at the buffet. I wouldn’t hesitate to book a cruise on Breeze.

Pros:

-With a couple exceptions, it has pretty much every amenity that Carnival offers

-It has a nice outdoor wraparound deck on the promenade

-It has cove balconies

-Nice theater, nice steakhouse, and I liked that the red frog pub had an outdoor area

 

Cons:

-Most crowded ship I've been on

-When I went in May the staff seemed stretch really thin

-I didn't eat in the buffet often, but almost everything I had there was mediocre to bad

-Not enough public spaces for a ship that size

-The regular balconies look down on the promenade deck

We have sailed both the Dream and Breeze and the Breeze is our favorite (we even like her more than the Vista!)

The only real con I can think of is that they got rid of Tandoor last year (the indian place on the aft deck).
Other than that, the layour is pretty near perfect!

We loved the way they had a small dance floor and music set up right next to the Alchemy Bar.
It was great for listening to the bands and having a drink after dinner. Doing a little dancing as well!

The water park was a lot of fun.
Especially after sailing the Vista, we really liked the way the auditorium was set up.
Great venue for watching the shows and not nearly as many blind spots as the Vista.
Also we liked that it had tables for your drinks or snacks.

As others noted, for the number of people this ship holds, it never felt crowded to us.
Also, do yourself a favor and drop by Afternoon Tea one sea day.
Tasty little snacks and very relaxing.
They also had the string trio playing music there during tea (the Vista did not, for whatever reason).

I loved the Tandoor on the Magic last year.  We ate there twice.  We're booked on the Breeze for Oct and I am so bummed they replaced Tandoor with Seafood Shack.  I'm allergic to shell fish.

We got off the Breeze last Saturday. The ship was clean an the staff was really fantastic. We were on the Magic last year, so we were already familiar with the design and layout of the ship, but the Breeze felt more crowded that the Magic.

I used to sail the 5 Conquest class ships as my go to, but the 3 newer Dream class ships are now my first look if thinking of Carnival.  It's a personal preference for the size, and layout, even though the 2 classes are more alike than not. Perhaps the decor of the Breeze, Magic and Dream relax me more than the heavily Farkusized older Conquest ships.

 

Posters here talk about differences, but they all have a comedy club, a steakhouse, a casino and mid ship, mid deck balcony cabins - that's what I have to have as my essentials on a floating hotel.

Have sailed both the Breeze and the Vista, and much prefer the Breeze.  I loved walking laps on the promenade deck on the Breeze.  Between the Havana area occupying the aft promenade and the additional glass partitions on each side, I only made one half loop on the Vista.  The atrium was almost ruined on the Vista by filling in the upper part and removing the glass elevators - the funnel display is a poor substitute.  

 

I hope they have fired whoever approved putting eight columns in the middle of the Limelight Lounge on the Vista.  From a cannon.  Into the sun.

We are going to be sailing the Breeze for a 2nd time next August. I prefer it over the Magic and so do our 4 older teens. Conquest class are my actual favorite, but when the whole family goes the Breeze wins out. The 3D theater is worth the money and even my in-laws enjoy it. I also agree with another poster, go to tea time at least once!

My only con would have to be our MDR table was a booth.  I enjoy getting dressed up and "going out" to dinner and having our family of 5 eating in a booth every evening was less than ideal for my expectations and thoughts of what dinner on a cruise ship should be.  It wasn't bad enough to complain, it didn't "ruin" our cruise, it just wasn't to my liking.  Enjoy your cruise if you do sail on her!

My favorite ship. It has the lanai, ocean plaza, larger alchemy bar, red frog pub, the best comedy club setup, Italian restaurant, BBQ, ropes course, thrill theater. I also had the best combination of bartenders, server, steward on that ship. Wish they didn't move her to Florida. Going back in about 18 months.

The Breeze is my favorite ship...have been on it 3x now and booked a 4th time for upcoming April.   

 

I have no cons for it....it offers something for everyone.

We will be sailing the Breeze in 16 days, this will be our second time aboard.  We have sailed the Magic on the first year Barcelona 12n RT itinerary and loved it,  As noted above I do like the Red Frog Pub better as you can sit outside.  I'm looking forward to trying the SeaFood Shack and the Pig BBQ.

I agree five in a booth, unless it is a large corner one, is less than ideal.  I generally request a booth but for 2 or 4.

 

I like the Breeze a lot.  It became less enjoyable when the area outside the Ocean Plaza and the Red Frog became non-smoking.  That change seems to have pushed a huge number of smokers into the nearby casino.

We are Platinum Members on NCL, but are considering going on the Carnival Breeze in November out of Port Canaveral. We still have the opportunity to sail on the NCL Breakaway out of Port Canaveral also. Has anyone cruised on these two ships and which one you would recommend and why? We have not cruised on either one.

I've been on both and if fares were equal, I'd return to the Breakaway.  I'd get priority boarding on both, but NCL Platinum perk gives me 2 free specialty restaurant dinners for 2 each cruise that would be $156 on Carnival.

 

I like the energy of NCL's dueling pianos better than Carnival's piano bar, but Carnival's comedy shows generally beat NCL's 2 City improv.  NCL's ships seem newer and cleaner to me than Carnival's, but a Carnival cabin is usually a bit larger.

 

Both ships sail fine in most types of seas - it could be a toss up.  Service is about the same.  Is there any difference in ports?  NCL's Harvest Cay is nice if you're doing a western.  If you're doing an eastern, is Amber Cove a stop?  That's one of my least desirable cruise line built port.

We have been to most of the ports on both itineraries so that is not a major factor. With the beverage package included for the same room type Carnival is a few hundred dollars more per person. Without the beverage package the prices are about the same. Familiarity with NCL can be a "pro" or a "con." We like all the perks with NCL, and we know what we are getting with NCL. However, we think it might be nice to try something different and explore a new ship and different dining options. That being said, we don't want to have "cruisers remorse" wishing that we would have chosen the "other" ship. Thanks for your help!

I've been on 23 CCL cruises on 12 different ships and I think Breeze is my favorite - I've sailed on her 4 times and have another cruise on her next month to Bermuda.  I did not think it was crowded on the cruises I was on. 

 

I thought the Sunshine was crazy crowded, but I know others didn't think the Sunshine was crowded.  Each cruise is a bit different, and though most sail "full," I believe how crowded they feel have something to do with the time of year that you are cruising.  In the summer when children are out of school, it seems that there are many 4-person cabins.

 

I loved the layout and décor of the Breeze.  It's been 3 years since I was on the Breeze, but unless things have really changed, I think the dining options were very good.  I'm not one who enjoys the Broadway type shows anymore, so can't comment on those.
