Grandeur still in Baltimore

I'm trying to understand why the ship is still at the pier and has not departed. Passengers embarked yesterday. By delaying departure the hurricane situation doesn't get any better . The transit out of Chesapeake to open ocean will not improve today or tomorrow. Look at the map of Dorian. Maybe someone can explain it

Thanks.  I drove by the port early this morning and we surprised to see her still in port.

But considering where Dorian is and is predicted to track, if I were on board, I would be happy to be at port. 😄

I bet the crew has her polished from head to toe and will be very happy to see passengers finally boarding.

To bad our chance to revisit the Grandeur is still about six months away.

I think that the passengers are on board.

And I bet they are anxious to get on their way as I would be.

I am sure they are relieved to be on the ship after not really knowing if their cruise would be cancelled.

I hope this is being treated as a port day and they can enjoy the  city.

In my experience, guests are not allowed off the ship.  Depending on the reason for such a delay, conditions can change at a moment's notice and the captain has to be able to move the ship as s/he sees fit.

Also keep in mind that total traffic is a factor, Grandeur isn't the only ship trying to get out of the port as well as in.  Add in commercial and Navy traffic from Norfolk and Newport News and it becomes rush hour on the Bay.  Also, There is a finite number of pilots available.

Wonder what time they will be casting off.  I think I had heard earlier that the entrance to the bay was closed for a while.  Is that open for transit now?

Maritime has her sailing at 0630  Saturday

Someone posted on FB that they won't sail til tomorrow, prob afternoon.  They also said the CG has to inspect the bouys and make sure they are where they are supposed to be before they open the bay up.
